I feel bad for the guy if he is just trying to make ends meet but if it were my next door neighbor I wouldn't take any chances with that shit.

Well it's not always that cut and dry. Does the guy grow his own weed or does he have a supplier? You will have some problematic people to go along with the harmless folk. I live in an area where it's pretty common and living next to a guy who slangs anything including weed is not optimal. deals go bad, people get robbed.

They take you hostage the cops come to rescue you but you got Stockholm syndrome now and are in love with these gangsters. My neighbor in an old building I used to live in had a grow house there and in a couple other units in our building. WHole hall would reek of weed 24/7, nearly. He ended up found shot to death in Riverside.

Population of cannabis users is more pacifistic than general society in general terms.
Additionally though, cultural rulings and preferences have pushed users into fringe territory making them more unpredictable (and thus dangerous) at the same time.
What ever. I personally consider marihuana to be an important plant and psychoactive drug and I don't think anyone should be incarcerated for it's production, distribution or usage no matter what laws a country developed. Violence and other negative behaviour connected to the drug trade is a wholly different issues however.

How do we know he sells weed? He could just be a big time smoker and he has friends that come over now and then. He has no proof only the smell and people coming to his house now and then.

You'll find a much more open-minded and positive response to it here than on almost any other forum.
Personally I'd be more afraid of the people he deals to than the dealer himself (if they come to his house). Illegal trafficking, regardless of your opinion on the legality of the item in question, is bound to attract people you probably don't want near your home.

You can also kind of tell who has a family to look after and who doesn't. I'm not against weed or it's legalization. in fact I want it to be legalized but it isn't. The guy potentially bringing problems into a quiet neighborhood. People think all weed smokers are hippy pacifists or something? What about the trade associated with it which can be very volatile?Shit goes down over weed quite a bit and it can bring negative attention to the area where it is available. I think the OP has a very valid concern. Not sure how I would deal with the situation but it is not one I'd want to be in.

Weed is harmless there are just assholes that smoke weed that would steal and kill without the drug and take hardcore drugs along with weed that actually do mess you up. There are losers in every community.

Calling the police for something non violent is pretty shitty. Everyone on the street will know it was you and most likely ignore you forever. The dealer will get a short sentence and have a boring few months in prison. All his consumers would have to buy from a sketchy dealer elsewhere.

And if I were in his situation I'd knock on his door, try to talk it over once and if the problem continues I'd call the cops. I'd rather have a solution that doesn't involve me tolerating skunk odor in my house and yard. Somehow his livelihood comes second to that, mysterious huh?
