My Nintendo Thread: Mii Nintendo, U Nintendo, Wii Nintendo

Looks like MyNintendo has categorized the rewards. So all the coupons are in one section, all the games in another, all the Miitomo stuff in their own section. They only show up that way if you click the "All Rewards" link.

Oh wow I just noticed that and yeah, now it looks much better.

Yeah, I was wondering because I traded a Steam game for a Mario 64 code the other day, and didn't get points. I also realized that I redeemed a Mario 3D Land code I bought in the BST thread earlier in the month and didn't get points either. I was trying to figure out if it was the source of the codes that was the issue, or if it's because I redeemed them both on eshop.nintendo.net.

I've redeemed stuff through that website and gotten the gold coins for it.

The Mario 64 code was probably from the current my nintendo rewards catalogue, which doesn't give coins on redemption.

Don't know about the Mario 3D land one though.

Because I don't want to give up hope, I decided to see when the Kirby Fighters DX and Dedede's Drum Rush DX coupon was added for My Nintendo JP and it was 6 days before Robobot came out in Japan.

I wonder if we'll see it go up tomorrow for us...

New for Japan tomorrow:

Kid Icarus: Medusa’s Revenge - 80 Platinum Coins
Kid Icarus: Palutena’s Revolting Dinner Part (1 and 2) - 80 Platinum Coins
Kid Icarus: Thanatos Rising Part (1, 2 and 3) - 80 Platinum Coins

All the Kid Icarus animated shorts, for 3DS.

....huh. That's interesting. Never thought Nintendo would do anything with the Kid Icarus anime shorts again.

Sad as it may sound, these are probably better rewards than most of the stuff we have over here lol.

Amazing value, loved these. Would love them on HD too.

WHOA what
how do these videos work? download them or something?
because they better bring this offer to the US

Any eu people here who're also unable to get my nintendo to work on the main site? at first it showed an indefinite loading icon in the upper right corner and now it's gone completely. I want my weekly coins. :(

After we started with Zelda Picross I had high hopes...

I have been very disappointed in what has been made available so far. I hope they are just treading water until NX or something.

They were obviously never going to often give out free, original games for grinding a bit daily on miitomo very often.

That said, I wouldn't give up until warioware and TP have expired to see if they're going to be replaced.

I would definitely get Dedede's Drum game if it has a discount.

Seems we doesn't have an nx thread anymore.
Don't want to create a new one, but maybe interesting to post it:

What's your opinion of Nintendo at the moment? Do you think NX can restore the company's fortunes?
Nintendo in their current state and the way they choose to do business I am definitely not a fan of. It shows a typical corporate Japan mindset with a Galapagos view on the world and an arrogance from past successes that doesn't translate to future success. I cannot go into the details of the NX but it does have good ideas and unfortunately its execution will undoubtedly fall short of consumer expectations. This may be Nintendo's Dreamcast. I see them becoming more of an IP creation company and exiting hardware as large M&A of expertise they are lacking is not in their DNA.

As Nintendo fan, I don't like this, but it seems that he has information about the nx and it isn't positive.

Eh, Nintendo's Dreamcast is the Wii U, they can only really improve on it. Plus why would they give up handhelds? They're more likely to stop being international and focus on Japan only than go out of hardware.

Reads like someone who wants Nintendo to go third party to be honest.

Who exactly is this guy though? Why would he have NX information.

Nintendo missing expectations, that's ridiculous.

Completely unrelated to this thread though.

Seems like Japan is the only place getting somewhat good stuff on My Nintendo again. Cannot wait for new Miitomo costumes in Europe...

Wow, super tacky, fan boyish and also stupidly tone deaf of this guy to insult Nintendo when M2's 3D Classics line is Nintendo exclusive and only available on 3DS where the series has done very well on the eShop to the point of even meriting two physical collection releases. Also, he's not even an M2 employee, he's a PCB collector and helped contribute/lend PCBs to M2 for part of the development in order to aid with accuracy, very cool of him to do that but not sure where he gets off acting like he knows details on NX and has the liberty to speak in absolutes unless M2 already has the main details on NX (as much as I love M2 they're too small so doubtful) and someone at M2 spilled the beans to him (extremely unlikely). I do agree with him though that Nintendo's Kyoto management is terribly conservative as Dan Adelman went over in detail last year in an interview with Emily Rogers but how does anybody knowing that qualify as NX insider info?

M2 would have knowledge of NX since they made the GBA emulator on the Wii U and either are porting it to NX or making new ones for it.

M2 handling GBA on Wii U is not proof they are going to have a major role on NX and are privy to everything on it, that's a pretty big assumption. Unless someone has proof that M2 already has dev kits and proof that they will be handling anything major on NX VC, we don't know that they have knowledge of the exacts of the system and even if they did, this guy would be helping them break NDA and he'd also be potentially poisoning their future business relationship with Nintendo by speaking so unprofessionally on their behalf. Anyways that's all I have to say, don't want to derail the thread into a bunch of NX talk.

I will not be satisfied until I have GameCube and Dreamcast games on the NX VC, and lots of cheese! Oh wait. *eats cheese*

But seriously, I'm still shocked Nintendo literally left money on the table by not allowing GC games on Wii U VC and just requiring the GC adapter. They're very easy to find from what I've seen.

They should put Gamecube games as rewards.

Also, something interesting to note happening in next Tuesday:

Nintendo eShop sale: Starting at 11 a.m. PT until 8:59 a.m. PT on June 21, Nintendo is offering discounts on some of its most popular games as a special treat for fans. My Nintendo members who are signed in will also get a special bonus if they buy select games included in the sale. Anyone who hasn’t signed up for My Nintendo yet is encouraged to do so now to avoid the E3 rush. To get the extra discount, My Nintendo members must link their Nintendo Account to their Nintendo Network ID and access Nintendo eShop on their device at least once before they make a purchase. The discounted games can be purchased in Nintendo eShop or at http://e3.nintendo.com. Details about the discounts can also be found at http://e3.nintendo.com.

Sooo ready for them to move past the 8 and 16 bit eras. Saturn would also be great since it seems like so many people missed out on that console. Would also help fill out the extremely anemic fighting and racing game selection (there's about 1 game from each genre available now on wii u virtual console).

Lol, the E3 rush? Hmmm, wasn't expecting much, but the special bonus must be pretty good if they're anticipating masses of people to suddenly sign up that didn't sign up day 1 for free Picross and WarioWare.

Third party stuff like that requires Nintendo's partners to put effort into it. I'm not sure Sega itself sees much value in its Saturn library, which probably kills this. Dreamcast is more likely.

Seriously, which Saturn games does Sega still even remotely care about? Nights into Dreams got a remake and eventually a sequel...what else?

Anyway, even if we're working under the assumption that the Wii U Virtual Console games are available at launch for the NX (I'm actually not ruling that out and I think it's more likely than some people here do, especially because Nintendo specifically is not calling Wii downloadable titles Virtual Console, which indicates that maybe NES/SNES/GBA/N64/DS titles will carry forward but Wii ones won't), there's plenty for them to do with the systems they currently have out. The DS alone has a vast, vast library. Between filling those out and filling out the Gamecube library they'd probably have enough stuff to keep the Virtual Console people busy for years to come without adding Sega platforms.

Maybe the new Legend of Zelda demo...

Sega released loads of games on wii virtual console that weren't at all priorities in terms of future viability of the franchises. Panzer Dragoon still carries a little cachet as a name, as does virtua fighter. Really anything by Yu Suzuki could work given the recent enthusiasm over the Shenmue sequel.

Now live in Europe

50% discount on Kirby's Dream Course for New Nintendo 3DS - 25 Gold Coins
1-hour ticket for Wii Karaoke U - 100 Platinum Coins

The notification for the Kirby discount is really misleading. Makes it sound as if you can get the game for free with coins.

Yeah, I actually thought the same thing. It just says "Kirby's Dream Course has been added as a My Nintendo reward". Very misleading.

So I've linked up my 2DS with everything possible (Not Google +, Twitter or Facebook) and done some of the mission, I currently have 250 silver coins.

My first impressions are Nintendo tried but they are clearly way behind in rewards, how to make coin collecting more easier to collect in a way that won't cost them too much and not shoving social apps in people's faces (Not that I don't mind it). The fact that you have to buy your own money tin is amazing and weird.

Anyway, this is a great thread and I'll be subscribing to it right now.

EDIT: Can anyone answer this question? If you buy something on sale that has been reduced and the price is under the gold coin limit, would they count the original price or the sale price?

I believe it's just for them to show how to use the system. Otherwise it really wouldn't make any sense.

You get coins from the original price.

Just as slight piggyback on this. Another poster pointed something interesting out about this decenrly that I wasn't aware of. Occasionally, Nintendo discounts games on the eShop by replacing the price with a lower price temporarily, rather than their usual "strikeout the old price and show the new price also" method. With the former method, you may (will?) get coins at the lower price. But generally, the latter strikethrough method is I believe more common and will give you coins based on full price. Regardless, this is all subject to change because the actual MyN FAQ, at least in the US (and this is the only place where I can with any degree of certainty say the above replacement vs. strikethrough difference may apply, since I don't know if the EU shop ever does sales that way or if coins are similarly subject to potentially change based on this), this FAQ says you'll get coins based on the new sale price, not the full price, so seemingly the intention is for us to get fewer coins on sale items, and thusly unless they changed their minds, they might alter the system to match this philosophy at any time.

I'd like 8/16-bit to fill out more first. More Game Gear, MSX and TG16 in the west, Genesis, SMS and Neo Geo back, plus additional systems like Sega CD, 32X, Wonderswan and NGPC. All should've been across (n)3DS and Wii U too. And even 1st party wise no Virtual Boy on (n)3DS still seems like a real missed opportunity.

As far as we know, this is what US is getting instead of the 5th Anniversary Sale. It's unclear if EU will get an E3 sale in addition to the current Anniversary sale, or if such a sale would include a MyN bonus (which it's still kinda unclear for the NA sale if that means an additional discount or a digital good such as a game, theme or MyN point bonus).

There are hidden My Nintendo coins on Nintendo's E3 website.
