My Nintendo Thread: Mii Nintendo, U Nintendo, Wii Nintendo

What exactly is the issue? You have too many DSiWare titles?

Yeah. I had forgotten that they only ran off system memory and that there's about 12kb of system memory on the 3DS. Had to delete a bunch of stuff to make room for WarioWare and will probably just copy it to the SD card in the end anyway.

They need to rename the plaTINum coins, so people have more realistic expectations of how worthless they are.
Once more mobile games and NX hit, I fully expect Platinum Coins to be strictly for in-game rewards (like the Miitomo stuff), with the occasional small discount. Gold coins will be for free games and big discounts.

Have no idea why Nintendo was unable to implement a Wii-like system which automatically moves data from the SD card to the internal memory when launching a DSiWare title.

It's safe to shuffle around WiiWare, since the only data actually touched is the software data. DSiWare introduces a lot of more problematic scenarios since the software data and save data are treated more like a single, atomic thing. This makes it preferable to avoid the copy step entirely, which would cause a considerable increase in complexity.

I'm having a different issue. I was able to download the game just fine, but when I launch it, I get a black screen with the message "An error has occurred. Press and hold the POWER Button to turn the system off. Please refer to the Operations Manual for details."

I tried deleting and redownloading the game, but the same thing happens. The other DSiWare games I have run just fine, and this is using the latest firmware.

EDIT: I think I might know the cause. The other DSIWare games were downloaded in sysNAND, while Warioware was downloaded in emuNAND.

300 platinum couns saved me 3 bucks when buying mario 3d world. plus i got metroid fusion, super punch out for free and now 30 percent off Xenoblade Chronivles X cuz its my birthday month. MyNintendo is not as good as club nintendo so far but i'm digging it

Yeah DSi Ware memory management is annoying but just be glad you actually got Wario Ware and aren't now stuck with at least 1,000 or more worthless platinum coins expiring in October like some of us.

Yes, spread the positivity!
I love My Nintendo so far.

Considering My Nintendo works in Finland, it's already a huge step-up from Club Nintendo, which did not. So I'm happy with this, I got some games from there which I probably would have never bought. And I didn't even use any money on them. (OK, I bought Pilotwings with gold coins, but I would have bought those games even without My Nintendo).

Man i made a mistake getting Zelda Picross before Wario Ware. Now i'm afraid my Platinum coins are going to expire before they update again.

I also have built up enough gold coins to get some 3DS games but not sure what, they all seem ok. Metroid 2, I loved that game on Gameboy but not sure if it will hold up with Time. Never played Wario Land 3 and not DK 3 sounds good also.

Mmm, I don't like that - Club Nintendo had expiration dates for codes but once they were used they were safe, and Platinum points expiring is fine since you can get them for free.

So if I have 40 Gold points from 31/03/2016, I'll need to use them before 31/09/2016 - do the Gold point rewards get updated monthly or on the first of September?

Wario 3 is good.

Guys the Curve Digital sale that is currently on is amazing for earning cheap gold.
If you buy all the games you can get 120 Gold £7.30! (enough points to claim both Metroid and Pilotwings on My Nintendo)

I think OlliOlli is only cross-buy if you get the U version.

And the Curve sale is amazing for other reasons as well, since those are mostly awesome games. Bummer I already got most before the MyN program.

So essentially if you wanted Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, you could buy 4 of those for £3.23 and get 40% off £19.99 on the eShop

For me, the Nintendo web shop shows the 1 EUR price for a second, and the next second it switches to "free". So I guess it also works the other way around as I bought the 3DS version yesterday. Wouldn't recommend buying it though, feels more like one of those free Armor Games titles - hard to believe they had it for 10 EUR originally..

Sadly, the other Curve 3DS game on sale is supposedly also not too good. Stealth Inc 2 and Thomas Was Alone are great games though.

Nope, I bought the 3DS version first yesterday and the Wii U version was automatically unlocked for me.
It's possible it changed when they implemented the new system as wasn't all the cross buy stuff handled using codes before?

If you have a 3DS you only need to get 3 as OlliOlli gives 10 Gold for each version and it's cross buy. So it'd be only £2.40 for a £8 discount on Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, and 3 other games!

Titan Attacks? It's basically a beefed up space invaders, played it for about an hour last night it's not bad doubt I'll revisit it any time soon though, 80p is about what it's worth.
Stealth Inc 2 and Thomas Was Alone are both great, anyone who hasn't played them should pick them up.

That was the case with Mario vs. DK: Tipping Stars. Either cross-buy systems allows for exploitation though.

- OlliOlli system:
Every NNID on your Wii U gets a copy, allowing a download of the 3DS version to as many systems as there are NNIDs on your Wii U

- Mario vs. DK system:
You can just sell the other code. That's what I did - in the end I sold the Wii U code for more than I paid for the 3DS game.

Yeah, reviews for Titan Attacks are rather bad.

Yeah, Titan Attacks isn't that grand. OlliOlli though I like quite a lot, if only for the soundtrack. You need to readjust your brain for the controls, but it's sweet gameplay.

Would you also get 30 of those Gold coins back through buying the game as well :D

Super Mario 64 is £8.99 on the eShop

For £4.83 (would be +80p if you don't have a 3DS), you could buy:

OlliOlli (crossbuy)
The Swapper
Lone Survivor
+ 3 more games (4 if you don't have a 3DS and had to buy an extra one)

Gain 90 Gold Coins

Claim Super Mario 64 as a reward

As I was saying above, a full game DL for free won't give you coins, I don't think.

I'm going to end up spending all my 4000+ platinum coins on Miitomo stuff, aren't I
Why haven't you already? :P
Just threw out 1265 silver to complete these sets.

I'm hoping that AC or FE mobile comes out by October and they load the store up with related rewards.

'cause I really don't need more crane drop game tickets.

I see I'm not the only one taking advantage of the Curve Digital sale to work the system. I picked up
-- Lone Survivor
-- The Swapper
-- Thomas Was Alone
-- Ultratron
-- Stealth Inc. 2
-- OlliOlli
which left me with enough Gold Points to pick up Metroid Fusion for free (with 20 left over). So yeah, I spent £4.90 and got £59.23 worth of software in total. I almost feel bad... Clearly, I'm terrible at capitalism.

...That being said, I'll probably end up getting their other two Wii U titles before the sale ends, and I've still got a half dozen or more VC titles still left to upgrade as well. Harvesting super cheap Gold Points is weirdly satisfying! I'm hoping for some more good VC games to be added as freebies when most of the current EU batch expire on August 1st.

I mostly wanted to chime in and say that this was my first time using the web eShop, and also my first experience of collecting and spending Gold Coins with My Nintendo, and I was thoroughly impressed with both. The eShop was slick and fast, a welcome change from using it on the Wii U. I had My Nintendo open in a separate tab and noticed that the coin total changed instantly (with a page refresh) after each purchase, and when it came time to redeem the Metroid Fusion reward it only took a couple of clicks to have it added to my download queue. Switched the Wii U off, made myself some dinner, and by the time I came back everything was installed and ready to go. Very pleased with how well the system works.

It looks like Animal Crossing and Captain Toad offers expired, and there are two new ones on European portal:

20 Gold Coins for 40% off of Earthbound Beginnings
180 Platinum Coins for 30% off of Hana Samurai: Art of the Sword

I have those two already, but Earthbound Beginnings was quite good game. People should get it for... better future proofing the series outside of Japan, if you know what I mean.
