My Nintendo Thread: Mii Nintendo, U Nintendo, Wii Nintendo

Somebody here on GAF once didn't know how to change the brightness on their 3DS.
Not everybody is an expert or hardcore fan, no need to be condescending to those who need help.
A forum this big can feel pretty unwelcoming at the best of times.

On Nintendo's website they do not show up for me. Where in the history do they appear?

They won't show up in the history on a device aside from the 3DS (the history couldn't be displayed linearly if it did), but they are associated with the account.

The account history is less of a purchase list, and more of a transaction history.

I guess the 'obviously' wasn't necessary but otherwise ... *hops back on the saddle*

edit: and that corporate cheerleader bit ...shove that in the attic please.

Posts like that one tend to get the label of corporate cheerleader, yeah. Particularly, ones that dismiss people's arguments in this area, especially in the way you did it, as being disrespectful and antagonistic. As I noted, My Nintendo is not a charitable thing, it's a service that gets people on the eShop and Miiverse and on email lists and on Miitomo and buying games from their service, and in exchange, we can get things. And really, aside from WarioWare Touched! and TP Picross, the Platinum awards are either passable or things that encourage people to spend money.

I just like to think Moon keeps it real cuz for real tho 99.9℅ of the questions/issues/whatever the fuck you call a discussion on this site is utterly pointless with no foundation whatsoever.

Because if it didn't work like that, someone would have gotten screwed and complained about it on the Internet by now.

Also because the alternative is pretty illogical for a multitude of reasons.
as far as I remember, it irked me that the help pages on this didn't spell out this backwards association.

Probably because you can re-download all your content on a different 3DS after migrating your NNID to it
I suppose this would be a confirmation then.

Well, there is a lot of complaining about transfers out there. In fact, a new thread popped up today.

Right. This was why I was so concerned. I have to wonder what is going on at this company.

Back to My Nintendo discussion, I am going to make a guess and predict that new rewards will pop up in the middle of this month.

That's quite a possibility. At least on EU-portal, we have discounts of Xenoblade Chronicles X and Xenoblade Chronicles 3D expiring then. Strange that they would not update with anything, but weren't most of those gifts there from the start? Maybe there's a same kind of bulk coming up.

I guess I just tend to be more relaxed about these things then? Seeing lots of complaining about how MyNin sucks or CN was sooo much better (aside from the rare OST CD in Japan/PAL that's just nuts) just ticks me off. Never said they're executing this perfectly either. I want all the same things everyone else wants, I just don't see the point on complaining. Especially here. If something really bothers me, I'll annoy them directly via email or whatever.

Not saying you come off as a blind shill or anything but constantly acting like folks' complaints either aren't valid or pointless for being brought up comes off as though it were some kind of negatively generated corporate loyalism at the least. Maybe it's the brand of saddle you're using.

I might look into another saddle but some of these just come with the territory.

I have no idea what that means either, I'm tired.

Yeah, those downloads were from the initial batch, and also available in all regions.

The issue is that there are some things that they can do that they did not do - for instance, why didn't they simply extent the length of certain games, if they didn't have new games to get? The only game that I would have spent my gold coins on (partly due to it being the only one I didn't own) is gone, but since they weren't adding any games, perhaps they could have given me another month to try and get it. There are a lot of things they could have done, but they went with the choice of "nothing."

Sure, Club Nintendo was shit, but I'll say what I said about the DS to 3DS: just because the 3DS may be doing better in a lot of respects than what the DS was doing at the same time, that isn't hard to do. If they're going to drop Club Nintendo at its best, then please don't replace it with something that is as good as Club Nintendo at its worst.

I'm not sure I'd call the last year or two of Club Nintendo "at its best".

Certainly not of you were into physical goods, although those are just all together gone, now.

As someone who actually likes digital games, I was usually getting at least one free game a month. Usually a VC title, but it was still nice.

I've only claimed one thing since My Nintendo started and that's Zelda Picross. Most likely my points will expire before anything else I want comes up because rotation is so slow.

EDIT OH thats a total lie. Warrior Land 3 and Metroid Fusion were my gold rewards. I"m still underwhelmed by the selection, though.

Rewards should update monthly, coins should last longer and physical games should have points vouchers.

I know. I've seen the constant "fuck you NOA" post walls in every thread announcing a OST CD/physical thing on EU CN :)

Agree, the final years of the EU Club Nintendo were pretty terrible. It started out great with The Legend of Zelda Collection for GameCube, limited edition controllers, the SNES Wii Controller, a Game & Watch Collection for DS and other actually useful stuff. It ended with cheapass toys/bags and useless soundtracks that you can find on Youtube just as well. To get rid of my stars, I even had to buy one of those soundtrack discs.

With My Nintendo I at least got Wario Ware Touched and Picross already for free - both are much better than what I got from Club Nintendo during its final days. Perhaps Nintendo is not updating until the MSL sale is over.

I have no idea why people defend this garbage program. The website is better, it works well. No surveys. That's about it, which is worthless when the rewards are garbage.

So far I have:
- £40.50 saved
- 2 free games
- 3 free 3DS themes
- 4 free Miitomo items

In 3 months. My Nintendo much better than Club Nintendo confirmed

That's why.
Club Nintendo was terrible. I spent thousands over the years and got back two statues, a soundtrack CD, a coin and some Wii points. We didn't have digital games from it in Europe.
There would be huge stretches without items, then when something physical went up it would run out in a day. Stars expired frequently.
My Nintendo is more generous and offers far better value.

I have to disagree. The Mario kart trophies alone that I got from CN are worth more to me than digital content/discounts will ever be.

To put it blunt, Club Nintendo (in its final days) was better for compulsive hoarders and fans of dust collecting stuff, whereas My Nintendo is more for those who want to have something that can be consumed. ;)

What's that?

Download these:
  • 4 Elements (MSL) - €1.00/£1.00 (Ends August 25, normally €11.99/£10.79)
  • Azada (MSL) - €1.00/£1.00 (Ends August 25, normally €11.99/£10.79)
  • Hidden Expedition Titanic (MSL) - €1.00/£1.00 (Ends August 25, normally €11.99/£10.79)
  • Jewel Quest The Sapphire Dragon (MSL) - €1.00/£1.00 (Ends August 25, normally €11.99/£10.79)
  • Jewel Quest 4 Heritage (MSL) - €1.00/£1.00 (Ends August 25, normally €11.99/£10.79)
  • Jewel Quest Mysteries 3 - The Seventh Gate (MSL) - €1.00/£1.00 (Ends August 25, normally €11.99/£10.79)
  • Luxor (MSL) - €1.00/£1.00 (Ends August 25, normally €11.99/£10.79)
  • Mystery Case Files Return to Ravenhearst (MSL) - €1.00/£1.00 (Ends August 25, normally €11.99/£10.79)
  • Mystery Case Files Dire Grove (MSL) - €1.00/£1.00 (Ends August 25, normally €11.99/£10.79)
  • Mystery Case Files Return to Ravenhearst (MSL) - €1.00/£1.00 (Ends August 25, normally €11.99/£10.79)
  • Secret Mysteries in London (MSL) - €1.00/£1.00 (Ends August 25, normally €11.99/£10.79)

And you get 20 gold coins for each. That way you were able to get Super Mario 64 for 5 EUR instead of 10 EUR for example. Or you get Pilotwings for 4 EUR instead of 8 EUR.

If you're going to put it like that...

Giving away downloads is either for people who weren't already buying the games that they want to play or people who are unable to afford them, in which case tying the rewards mostly behind the typically overpriced eshop games vs retail, or buying games you don't even want just for coins is hardly a good idea.

No, a unique piece of Nintendo memorabilia is still far better than a download that I've probably already bought if I actually wanted it.

I've got to agree with those saying My Nintendo is better than Club Nintendo.

I've already got more out of My Nintendo in a few months than I ever did from years of Club Nintendo. Cheaply made nonsense was always disappointing.

Sure, it sucks that they haven't updated it these past two months, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Club Nintendo was a thinly veiled survey system and not much of a "Customer Loyalty Program".

I like My Nintendo. I liked Club Nintendo. I liked the random bonuses Nintendo gave for registering games before Club Nintendo. I liked the Nintendo Power Supplies Catalog (buy stuff for money for NP subscribers). I liked the Nintendo Power annual subscription bonuses.

I look at it as a bonus for already getting the games/magazine that I was going to get anyways. Sort of like how the on-foot missions in Rebel Strike didn't make the game worse, since those were mostly (all?) bonus levels.

MyN has lots of potential, and I expect NX games will feature missions much like Miitomo which will only make it more compelling.

The real issue right now is there's hardly anything to use platinum points on, which is the core of the MyN experience. 15% off games I already own isn't doing the trick for me.

Ah, those things.

Wondering if it's worth buying all that £1-£1.50 shovelware for the gold coins. Anyone else gone for them? I have all the gold rewards I want already.

I did, I spent about $5 to obtain about 80 gold coins... not that I have anything to use those Gold Coins on, but hey they're there. At the very least I can flip the download codes on GAF to someone in the B/S/T thread, so everyone wins.

You'll have an extra couple of weeks before the coins expire in six months time.

No, the coins expire at the end of the month that is 6 months from the point of sale. Since the sale ends August 25, there's no extra time gained by waiting to buy them. Either way, they'd expire at the end of February 2017.

How is Wario Land 3? I don't think I ever played a Wario Land game. What makes them unique?

The Wario Land games moved away from the Mario formula by focusing on exploration. Wario Land II and III move even further away by making Wario invincible. The main gimmick as a result was bad guys would transform Wario rather than harm him. Wario Land III takes an interesting approach to the exploration element by making it a bit similar to Metroid, where you'll often come across areas you can't access until later, so you'll find yourself revisiting levels to find all the treasure.

In the end I got the Zelda Picross for fear of the coins expiring. Do the codes expire after a time too? I'm not into this kind of puzzles, but maybe I can trade it with somebody.

I'll echo the sentiments that it is a very unique platformer. You don't take damage, and instead (for most enemies) are transformed by their attacks instead, which can be used to clear puzzles and such. It's one of the best games Nintendo has made.

They're not going to update the rewards before the end of this month, are they?

Got 40 Gold Coins from March and there's fuck all to spend them on.

Known already? There will be up to 300 platinum points for Gamescom visitors.

1. Get a special card at the counter at the Nintendo booth
2. Get that card stamped for playing Mario Party: Star Rush, Monster Hunter Generations, and two Indie titles
3. Participate in a match in the battle corner (game competition)

If you do all of that, you get 250 platinum points. If you signed up on My Nintendo beforehand, you get 300 platinum points.

In other words, not really worth the effort. But if you want to try everything at the Nintendo booth, it won't hurt.
