My Nintendo Thread: Mii Nintendo, U Nintendo, Wii Nintendo

In conclusion: My Nintendo REALLY sucks. It's so bad. My hard earned money was spent and I received gold coins. Now you want me to spend more money because you only offer me a discount? Give me a free game Nintendo and it's RIDICULOUS that my gold coins are about to expire. This system is more unrewarding than rewarding.

Bring back Club Nintendo. I will cherish my commemorative Club Nintendo coin because that was an amazing rewards system while this one is terrible.

Looks like you can get Gold Coins for games you already own. I had Mutants Mudds claimed on Wii U, which is cross-buy with 3DS. Therefore, the game is free to claim, but it still gives you the Gold Coins for it. Need to see if I still have other cross-buy titles somewhere in there...

No, you got the gold coins for "buying" the Wii U version. Or did you get gold coins for the 3DS purchase just now?

You get 10 gold for each version you claim.
So for example you buy the Wii U version for £9 and get 10 gold, then claim the 3DS version for free and receive another ten.

Yes, but so you don't get coins for games you already own. You just get coins for games you purchase now. In this case, the purchase was free due to the cross buy promotion.

I assumed themes would be in, that was pretty obvious. Hopefully they look nicer than the 3DS theme. Most 3DS themes are just way too busy. The low resolution does not help.

What I would like to see is an achievement program. Just like the mobile titles, performing certain tasks in a Switch game would unlock an achievement that gives you points. These points don't need to be give you access to free games or discounts or anything, but it would be cool to use them as a universal currency to unlock Switch themes, Mii hats and outfits, DLC costumes, additional consumable items, etc.
 
A bunch of Zelda rewards were added (back) in NA: Link to the Past and Skyward Sword joined by the Oracles and Majora's Mask 3D.

New option within Other Settings, Friend Suggestions.

"This feature lets you easily connect with friends across multiple Nintendo Account linked services by providing friend recommendations in one service based on your existing friends in another service."

Guess our Mario Run, Miitomo and FE Heroes friends may pop up on Switch...

You can use Nintendo Account parental controls to apply restrictions on accounts you supervise, like restricting spending/purchases on Nintendo Switch eShop and nintendo.com and restricting viewing of content on Nintendo Switch eShop.
If you would like to create a Nintendo Account for a child, select "Create an account for a child."
If you would like to supervise a Nintendo Account that has already been created, select "Supervise existing account."

So is the "Just for You" birthday coupon kind of useless/crap? It looked at first like it applied to essentially everything, so I decided to go with something I didn't have but knew I wanted (since Switch is so close, my hype is kind of down for feeling the need to dig deep and get the most out of this discount), so I was just going to grab Picross e7. But it didn't apply.

I clicked on the coupon itself, and... is it just seriously 14 (primarily retail) games that it applies to? Because that's the list it brought up, and if so, this thing is 100% useless to me. So... that sucks.

I don't think Zelda will have MyNintendo missions since I think they probably would have integrated it in time for reviewers to be able to comment on it. Maybe games like MK8D and Splatoon 2 will, though.

Yep, it's just those. It is frustrating that it offers you games you already own digitally.
 
Why is it being assumed that Switch games will have missions? It sounds nice in theory, but I keep seeing this thrown around and don't recall any indication from Nintendo on the topic. They serve a purpose as a free-to-play element in the mobile games and to encourage mobile users to sign-up to My Nintendo for email spam and what not. That's not the case for Switch games; they already have gold coins for purchase as an incentive.

Is it too much to hope for a theme? ...probably.

Although I don't know what else there could be. No way they have discounts on Day 1.
 
I doubt we'll see any Switch related things before 3/3, if they exist. I also don't think there will be any themes at launch, they would have announced it if there is.

Rant: All JP My Nintendo new rewards in Feb is FEH, disappointed.
 
All games should have my Nintendo rewards and it should be an os level achievement feature.

Amiibo should give my Nintendo coins and also unlock icons and themes.

Mobile games should use amiibo too.

Nintendo's horrible feature integration is so painful.

That was one of the things I was really hoping for, but admittedly it's a lot of clothing items that would need to be stored in the (limited) Switch memory.

Agreed! They need to just give us percentages off based on how many points we have. Up to 50% off any game.

I'll be shocked if there isn't something for Switch if only to help advertise the existence of Switch to all MyNintendo users, because they've been advertising Switch pretty aggressively. At some point I would expect there to even be a free Switch game to entice everyone into thinking they should buy a Switch just to play the free game like they did with Zelda Picross and Warioware to try to get the cell phone people to buy a 3DS.

So for the first time in ages I found myself on My Nintendo. I had 350 coins expiring this month and apparently let some other months slip. Well I bought 3 Zelda videos as it was better than letting more coins rot.

Didn't Japan get those Kid Icarus shorts at one point as well? If they're not going to offer exclusive games (well Wario Ware Touched was a DS cart) they should offer more things like that and not have them up for a limited time only. The intent should be making a catalogue that grows rather than one that stagnates or contracts. The short shelf life of coins already gives incentive to spend (something Club Nintendo struggled with at times)

At the end of the day I don't find myself logging in each week to the services and have forgotten what Miitomo and Fire Emblem Heroes are (partly due to technical issues other part not enjoying them) if they even have recurring missions so my coin income is pretty limited.
