My roommate thinks gaming is for sinners

People like that give Christians a bad name. Sorry, bro. Maybe one day she'll pull her head from her ass.

*Might also want to remind her that we're all sinners. So therefore, gaming is for everyone. :)

but did you turn it off? I would've told her to fuck off. Now if she asked kindly to put some headphones on cause she didn't want to hear that I'd respect her request and had done that. but I'm not going to stop playing my game when I also pay rent there as well, especially with the attitude she gave you.

The guy is my best friend. His girl doesn't do anything at all. No school, no work, has a trust fund, goes to church all the time.

It's time to be HIS best friend and have a long chat about what his life is going to look like in 3-5 years if he continues dating someone that strikes a look of absolute fear in his eyes over his roommate playing a video game.

Your roommate is an immediately unlikable person. I can't say anything more about them than that, without knowing a little more about the living situation and her herself.

So I was playing Plants vs zombies in the living room a couple of weeks ago, when my roommates come home (they are a couple) and the girl demanded I turn off that garbage. She told me to get a life and the guy came in the room and begged me to turn it off, with the look of absolute fear. I have had plenty of dicussions with her about gaming and is super against it because religion and "it's wrong". Someone remind me why I live here again. FML

Tell them you don't believe in their religion and their rules don't apply to you. If they are unable to handle that you are playing a game then they are weak and should go pray to their god.

Set out some magic cards and a D&D rulebook in the room next. Let us know if she breaks out the holy water and prayer beads.

I think this would be my move. (I'd have to buy the cards, but I have plenty of D&D rulebooks.) Alternately, (if you're up to it) start quizzing them on things that actually are sins according to the bible, like eating shrimp.

If it's an XB1, you should snap some porn onto the screen just to add to the effect.

Tell her that zombies are based on Jesus. You are practically in church when playing a game with zombies in it.

Your roommates are a couple? Are they married? If so, why the hell do they have roommates? If not, ask her why they're living in sin, and if she claims they're not ask to see the two twin beds in their bedroom.

I grew up around some really conservative religious folks and I have never heard of games being a sin. Even the mom I knew who wouldn't let her kids play Ocarina of Time because it had evil spirits in it let them play Mario Kart and a few other games. Your roommates sound kind of insane.

My buddies mom and step dad thought playing games meant their son was mentally unstable and belonged in an asylum.

They also would watch GoT together too.

Have you tried having an intelligent discussion about it? honest question, I would like to know why she believes that video games are a sin. Don't let it turn into an argument, I just want to understand (so we can all lol)

I'd also like to know her stance on books, movies, comics, tv shows, etc. I have a feeling any given reasons on video games can be applied to them as well

That's why these people are great. People like this make more atheists than any evidence or factual arguments.

We need people like this to help others see that the whole outfit is bullshit.

You can go to a new place with new roomates that accept what you do or...

You can start criticising everything mildly bad or something she really likes to do until she gets fed up and start a war with you until one of you gets out of there.

I advise the first one.
I would do the second one!

Tell her to mind her own business.

Tell them to leave you alone so you can sin a bit more, because you like sinning because you are sin incarnate.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to hear their argument.

As a Christian, I find gaming utterly offensive.

Gaming as a whole should be more inclusive of other genders, races, and such. Gaming needs to mature as a medium, pulling gamers along with it.
