My Vita's rear touchpad has stopped working

I was just playing Tearaway this morning and my rear touchpad wasn't working. At first I reloaded the level, because Tearaway has been throwing all sorts of random glitches at me over the past week, but the issue persisted. I then loaded up Welcome Park to test if it was just Tearaway or the console, but it was the console. So THEN I turned the console off and loaded everything up again and the problem didn't go away.

Is this a common issue? I've never had any console ever crap up on me in such a huge way before. I've only had this thing since August, so it's fucking shocking that it's already crapped up with the little use it gets.

I've had this happen a few times, but completely restarting the system (as in holding down to power off completely) always fixed it. Not sure what to do other than call Sony if that doesn't fix it.

I wiped the touchpad with a damp cloth and it's working now. My Vita was just protesting about not being cleaned, apparently. The big question is now, why the fuck does the Vita's touchpad not work when it's covered in general finger grime? That's ridiculous.

You're supposed to finger it.

It does...

Mine works fine with general grime. Had mine since the First Edition bundle.

Not to sound mean, but stop being gross. ;P

Maybe it is protesting how little you finger it.

Same thing happened to my Vita on Friday when playing the Tearaway demo. I was ready to return the Vita and get my money back but luckily, rebooting the Vita fixed my problem.

So does that mean Tearaway is screwing with the Vita or is this just an example of Mark Cerny's excellent work?

Putting Tearaway in the sleep mode sometime cause the rear touchpad stop working. I have been spent about 15 hours on it with many times on sleep mode, and it happened maybe 3 or 4 times.

I think it is bug from the OS or Tearaway. Reboot Vita will fix it

Tell me about it. The button to change hover zones in Jak II is mapped to R2, which is a really shite thing for it to do. You need to dodge traffic at the last minute? Lol no, grimy touch pad, fiery crash of death.

eh, I just found that unresponsive in general. I think it's just the game. No matter how clean my rear touch was, it didn't work well.

Use a grip on your Vita, the accidental rear touches go away and it becomes easier to feel where they are when they're recessed into the grip's plastic edges.

Mine only had that problem once and a restart of the system worked, haven't had the problem ever since but given that few games and apps use it, sometimes you might not notice it's not working.

Didn't know you got a Vita, afoni.

What games do you have?

P4G and Tearaway.

Tearaway just isn't good for the Vita then, it seems.

somebody will take offense to this and it will be funny

I hope so.
