My Wii is crashing like there is no tomorrow!

so ever since i imported my Wii from the U.S, it's been crashing on me like mad. Crashing happens mainly on the main channels screens and in some games such as Rayman and Super Paper Mario(which im playing lately, but i can't seem to play the game for more than 15 mins without crashing).

my question is, do you think the problem is from the Wii itself or the Wii PSU? i'm running all my systems through the same transformer(PS3, 360) and not a hick-up.

I have 2 choices, either get a new Wii PSU or buy a new Wii all together(i dont mind getting a new one since sending the first one to the states for repair will cost just as much)

and last, if i get a new Wii, can i move the games i purchased from the Wii store onto the new one by copying them to the memory card?

edit: and no my Wii is not over-heating.

thanks!

m,

If you don't have a My Nintendo account linked to your Wii you might be out of luck. Some people have reported that with a linked username Nintendo was able to know what VC games they purchased and was able to give them Points Cards or downloads (if they sent it in to be fixed). That might be your only option.

Unfortunately, no. DLC is linked to your Wii, and Nintendo is the only one that can make transfers (really unpractical, and the main reason I sticked with european Wii this gen).

As for your freezing problem, I have no clue, sorry :(

Could someone give me a link/info on how to do that. I have an Nsider Nintendo account, but how do you link it to your Wii? I have yet to buy any VC games, but I my buy Paper Mario today.

There is, in fact, no tomorrow.
Also, send it in. A friend of mine had his Wii crashing at least 20 times a day, he got a new one from Nintendo and it works like a charm.

Unplug it, plug it in...

...or feed your friggin' Pikmen every once in a while. They aren't slaves, ya know.

1- disconnect it from the internet
2- turn off Wiiconnect
3- leave it in a more open place (could be GPU overheating issues)

speaking of GPU, it seems 360/Wii ATI cards are causing a lot of heating issues...

so it was a Wii problem and not the PSU.

anyways, screw the DLC,i only have like 4 games....i dont mind re-buying them.

as to the GPU over-heating, my Wii is in an open place where it's always cool.

i just go out and buy a new one....send it to the states will cost and take forever.

Just plug/unplug it a couple of times. That's what I did for mine.

no way, that's not gonna work.....i did that several time already.

i would still ask if nintendo will fix it where you live, even if they wont cover you it should still be cheaper than buying a new one.

you could also format the system in the options menu...

I have a small question as well.

While playing with the Wii, these little black dots will appear and flicker at random on the screen. They usually cluster in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. I've tried different games, and hooking the Wii up to different TVs--all with the same result.

Could someone tell me what's up with my Wii?

*Edit - And sorry if this has been asked somewhere before.

I keep seeing many problems with the Wii. If it is not crashing then there are blue dots on screen or the disk drive rejects disks. Why there is not an official thread?

Your video card is overheating. Call Nintendo.

I got mine chipped and ever since WiiConnect24 doesn't work unless you manually go into the channel and get updates, and Wii-Mails don't come threough at all!!

Stupid thing. Apart from that its all gravy

Because its about 1% or less units that have an issue not 33%

I think your maybe right about those ATI GPU...

Please tell me
And please don't say take the chip out, as that isn't the solution as mine is fitted externally to mount and dismount as required.

it involves opening your wii and the battery inside. read up on it on any mod site forum and you'll find out.

Just go to the Wii shop Channel and go to options, I think it should be the first option.

Linking your My Nintendo account with your system will not allow you to save your VC games and Wii points. That is all tied directly to the Wii you purchased them with. The only way to save your Shop Channel data is to have Nintendo do it. You'd need to send in your system for this.
