N.E.S Article: Should Indie's Embrace WiiU?

What Nintendo should do is make all the games that you could download on the Wii Shop from the first Wii instantly available on the Wii U eShop. If they want to re-released HD versions of some of those, so be it....

Doing this would give the eShop a huge library of games right away.

I think they already confirmed this for launch, but they're being vague on whether or not you'll be able to transfer all your Wii purchases (VC stuff in particular) to Wii U on day one.

yeah it would be good, was DSiWare available on 3DS? I figure Wii and Wii U will do at least whatever those devices did in relation.

I think they said it'll work like the 3DS transfer. You'll need both consoles in the same physical space and a wifi connection.

Yeah, we know how it's gonna work, just not whether we'll be able to transfer everything at launch. The Nintendo reps have suggested that transferring your VC titles may not be a possibility from day one.

I see. I tend to give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt for many of the issues they haven't publicly addressed. I think they'll have much of these issues resolved. Transferring, online support, friend codes, off TV play, etc...

Although it is starting to get annoying. Not only are they hiding details (presumably due to competition), but they are also waiting to announce future dates where they might give more information.

I guess the reason that I'm worried is that it took them ages to allow you to transfer your DSiWare to 3DS, and even longer for 3DS-to-3DS transfers. Hell, they didn't even have the eShop ready until three months after launch (although they've confirmed it for day-one on Wii U). It seems like it should be a straightforward thing to expect, but then again, Nintendo.

Yeah, I see what you are saying. I think maybe another issue is that they are reluctant to hire additional staff to get all the work done early, so they'd rather just be busy juggling all these balls and progress slow.

so how did the games you bought online on wii carry over to the wii u?

As someone said three or four posts up, same as DSi > 3DS most likely.

You start with two systems: the source and target system. Both need to be connected to the internet for the license migration from one piece of hardware to the other.

Some content (presumably saves, photos, etc) is transferred onto the other system via wifi, and the other content (full games etc) is transferred via SD card. Some others might need to be updated by redownloading them from the eshop (free, you dont have to pay again).

It's pretty easy when you sit down to do it, but on paper it sounds convoluted.

The real questions are:
1. When can you do it?
2. Will everything be transferrable or will there be an exclusion or not?
3. How will they fit in to the new account system?

Is this a Nintendo PR site?

As one of the writers for the site, I can safely say no.

We have $0 budget and don't get paid, everything is volunteered submissions.

It's Guek's Website (a neogaf poster)

The site's authors do mainly love Nintendo games, I personally also love my 360 and would love to have more Microsoft articles, I'm looking to preview and or review Halo 4 soon.

What we really need is more authors to contribute to the site, especially those with more opinions beyond the nintengaf community and it's a community site so there is a submit button on the site for people to list their own content. As for the majority of the site being about Wii U, well it's a hot topic right now and one that a lot of us are excited about.

It's an emily rogers article.

If you read the article, 90% of the opinions given are directly from developers. I don't understand why her being the writer even matters in it's context.
