NA Black 3ds XL Launch (Aug. 11th)

When I transferred my system, my time got screwed up and when I started Animal Crossing I saw that there was snow on the trees... it felt like I was spoiling the game lol. I switched the time immediately.
 
Played some Donkey Kong Country Returns with the 3-D on full. Kind of puts a strain on the eyes after a little while. After I beat 1-2, the game told me to take a break. I can always turn off the 3-D effect, but that's the reason I bought the thing. ^_^
 
$161 with my discounts at target n___n looks awesome, goes great with my pink one. happy.

only downside was the surprised savings and then feeling the itch to get dream team, which i did...
 
I'm thinking of trading my original black 3DS for a black XL at Gamestop. How am I supposed to perform the system transfer? Is there any way to do it without wifi? Has anyone successfully performed a system transfer at a Gamestop?

System Transfer has been designed for Nintendo's convenience, not yours. You'll have to buy the new system first, then trade in the old system after your transfer.

I might be doing the same.
What I planned on doing was getting the XL first, doing the transfer at home, going back to GameStop to return the XL, then buying it back with the store credit from my original 3DS trade-in.

I did a google search and saw some people have done this before, but I'm gonna check with my GS first. It would suck to buy a new XL and find out after I can't return it lol.

Yeah, I made some calls and a few Gamestops suggested this as their solution. It seems to be kosher but you should call ahead to make sure.
 
Originally I really wanted a black XL, but now I will bite the XL for a big game bundle. If Pokemon gets bundled, I'm buying that, keeping my OG 3DS, and buying a physical copy of the opposite Pokemon game to trade between consoles.

If that doesn't come, I'll wait for a Zelda XL. I've been burned by Nintendo bundles every time, now I'm going to wait for some amazing special edition (that doesn't look like embarrassing like the Animal Crossing 3DS).

Just got back from talking to a guy there.. Picked up the XL and I'm transferring now.

Might sound weird but the 3D on the XL seems better..? Maybe I wasn't holding the original 3DS close enough to my face lol.

where exactly are you talking? Yes they are sold in stores. I guess it just depends if you are in a popular area and they sell faster. All the Best Buys in my area list in-stock.

I think I'm going to try to do the price match at BB this week. Thinking of picking up Kid Icarus used with the $25 I save.
 
Just upgraded mine with the GameStop deal. I love the black, it's so discreet. I don't have Wi-fi at home currently but when I do I'll post some nice pictures.
 
So I redeemed my best buy warranty on my blue 3ds xl and PMed Target to get the black 3ds xl.

Although the cashier kid PMed it at $150 and not $175. So I basically traded m blue for a black and made a net $50. Pretty stoked.
 
I'm located in Australia and picked up a Canadian region 3DS XL. If I want to register my copy of Shin Megami Tensei IV (for the $30 eshop credit) what should I input as my country of residence in my profile? I heard I should use Canada instead of U.S because the U.S shop doesn't allow international credit cards? Also is it possible to change my profile information (e.g username) later on?
 
I'll admit I'm a bit jelly.

I do still adore my blue one, but I love black electronics. I'm not going to trade as my blue one has MK7 on it from that holiday bundle, but I'm still a bit jelly.
 
Picked on up on Sunday. I had the original 3DS at launch and sold it before the slew of games came out. I bought, Super Mario Land 3D, Fire Emblem, SMTIV and Kid Icarus. Any other games you guys recommend? I can't seem to find a thread on some recommended 3DS games on here.
 
Will Best Buy just look at Target's price on my phone? Or do I have to grab the ad from somewhere?

I bet they've done it so many times this week they already know.
 
The black XL doesn't look as nice IRL tbh. I think silver is the color for me. Or maybe I'll held off for a cool special edition (Smash Bros?).
 
I picked this up on Sunday and am loving it so far. First time messing around with a 3DS, and damn is the XL big after only ever using the DS Lite. Plus, just being able to connect to my wifi without having to turn off it's security is worth it for me.
 
Black looks great. I wish we had this in Australia. Might have to get the silver instead if there are no LE's released for Pokemon here.

What sucks is DS games can't access WPA networks. What I do is just turn on my guest account with no security, do what I need to do online, and then disable the guest account again.

I actually saw someone playing AC on an XL on the bus this morning and yes, it's bigger than I thought! She was a smaller Asian girl though, so that may haves skewed things a bit.

Just claimed my Club Nintendo Zelda DX prize, I'm all ready for my XL now.
 
How's everyone doing with the 3D? I was excited about this guy but compared to the 3D on my OG 3DS it's just really hard to look at on the demo units I've tried. Never had an issue with the OG; I basically set it to full blast day one and never looked back.

In my case, XL's 3D is way much better than OG 3DS. I didn't even bother using it on my OG 3DS because it gave me headach whenever I'm using. But that's not the case with XL, it's much more fluid and doesn't even give me any headache unlike with OG 3DS

I don't even think you need that. I just told an employee about it, they checked on a computer and adjusted the price.
 
Wow it's amazing how much better that looks with the nice matte finish versus the glossy black of the OG 3DS. People who like glossy black shouldn't be allowed to design electronics. :P
 
Bought one yesterday and so far I'm loving it. It's a lot better than the regular 3DS. Maybe I'm just in the honeymoon phase, but all I want to do is finish all my backlogged 3DS games.
 
I thought I liked the black the most but i still think the blue looks better.

This does look great though.

Do you have any trouble maintaining the 3D? Does the sweet spot seem narrower?

Honestly, yeah, it does seem narrower. Slightly more difficult to maintain, but I tend to feel more immersed with the larger screen. So it is absolutely worth the "trouble" to maintain the 3d. It doesn't require much effort.
 
Did anyone trade thier Blue/Red 3DSXL at gamestop to put the credit towards a black one? If so how much did you get for it and how much was the new 3DS afterwards?
