NA PSN Essentials sale is up

It's past time to take Celceta off my wishlist.

If we get it on next month's PS+ (lol), I helped with that.

Next month's list is announced tomorrow. You've waited this long can't you wait a day lol. It's on sale for a week.

As I said before, I never buy in sales launched the day before the PS+ announcement because Sony is gonna be Sony.

Thinking of nabbing Disgaea 4 when I get paid, played through 1-3 and want to get 5 on the Switch, so closing that hole would be nice.

And perhaps Trails of Cold Steel on PS3 so I can have the nicer looking version in addition to the Vita one.

picked up SOMA been waiting for it since I missed the last sale on it. Gonna hold off on other stuff with Switch so close around the corner.

Is it just me or does Atlus never puts up their Vita (and PSP) games on sale anymore?

Hell the last time Odin Sphere was on sale it was only the PS4 version. And I think the previous time as well. The Vita version has never been on sale as far as I can tell.

I guess I'll never buy P4DAN then. I'm not paying $50 for that game, no way.

Well to be honest it's not just Atlus, but they used to do Vita/PSP sales almost every other week so their absence is the most notable. Pubs just don't give a fuck about putting up Vita games on sale anymore. NISA being one of the rare exceptions though, as seen this week.

Only 1 game this sale as most things I already own

even this I already own and played hours on STEAM

CRYPT OF THE NECROMANCER

Superb game. Get it

Might also buy: SHADOW COMPLEX

Is Axiom verge worth the 10 bucks? Any impressions?

Whoops, I just noticed a couple of replies up above. Still, any impressions? It looks very Metroid-y, and that's def. a plus.

Got this last week from the Humble sale. About 3 hours in and not really enjoying it so far. All the weapons I've found (4, not counting the starter gun) have been dissapointing in terms of range and damage output. There are powerups that increase your bullet size and damage that I haven't found a lot of, so maybe it gets better later on, but right now it's slow going. The enemies are all designed to be approached in an optimal way to avoid taking damage. While I get that from a design perspective, the combination of enemy placement and the weak weapons just makes it feel tedious to me.

The dialog I've read so far comes off as nonsensical and badly written. I don't really need much in terms of story for a game like this, but what's there isn't helping.

I really dislike the BGM in the fourth area.

The areas don't seem to really overlap or interconnect, besides the entrance/exits. Feels like a missed opportunity.

I guess I was expecting something more like Super Metroid...fluid exploration and combat, less pixel bitching.

Maybe it gets better later on, IDK, but I think this isn't really for me.

Just my 2 cents.

As someone who recently bought my first PS4 (a Pro, even), you guys can imagine my reaction when I look at this list of "essentials".

Nice one, Sony!

I did get Dark Cloud 2 for a good price this weekend, though, so there's that, I guess.

This has been the case since the company was acquired by SEGA.

I remember there being a "PlayStation Essentials" sale about the same time last year as well.

Pretty sure they continued sales a good while after the acquisition.

I remember P4DAN being on sale once but it was like 10% so I skipped it. Little did I know that was the best it would ever get...

Tempted by SOMA as $9 is a great price and the lowest previous sale price was $15. And I love horror, atmospheric, and story-driven games. But I just have a feeling it'll be on PS+ soon.

How long is the game? Hoping for about 5-7 hours.

Really thankful that we've been getting sourced for these lists the past few weeks. :D Means a lot.

As someone who recently bought my first PS4 (a Pro, even), you guys can imagine my reaction when I look at this list of "essentials".

Nice one, Sony!

I did get Dark Cloud 2 for a good price this weekend, though, so there's that, I guess.

I recently got my first PS4 too (also a Pro!) and i've been patiently waiting for the real essentials for what feels like forever.

Managed to snag Bloodborne and Until Dawn but they really really don't wanna put the likes of Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Last of Us and Infamous on sale.

Looks like the usual suspects are on clearance again.

Battlefield 1 is new. I imagine it'll be down to $9.99 eventually (RIP Arkham Knight). Overall it's a great sale, but there aren't any hidden gems like Life is Strange for me to dive into. :/

As a recommendation, Batman: The Telltale Series is pretty good. Although given the poor state of the game performance wise, and the janky animations, the current sale price is a bit much. I bought it for far cheaper a while back on PSN (maybe like $3-4) and it was more than worth it at that price.

I would suggest waiting on any TTG in general. The first episodes usually end up going free and the seasons start to get heavily discounted once all episodes are released. Frequently see previous games for $10 or less all the way down to $5 if you are patient.

Way of the Samurai 4 very rarely if ever goes on sale, so I grabbed that. It may be a completely flawed game.

I also got Adventures of Mana. Almost got Mount & Blade: Warband but I'm not sure how active the multiplayer community is. I would end up boosting it anyway.

I still have Tactics Ogre and J'eanne D'arc to beat on the vita. How does Disgaea 4 compare? And as a non-sale related question, how does Banner Saga compare?

What are the top SRPGs that I can play on the Vita?

Tempted by SOMA as $9 is a great price and the lowest previous sale price was $15. And I love horror, atmospheric, and story-driven games. But I just have a feeling it'll be on PS+ soon.

How long is the game? Hoping for about 5-7 hours.
It took me 10-12h to finish but I love to explore every bit and get all the intel I can. Best sci-fi story I've ever seen in a game definitely.

my general thought process is if you feel like there is still room for the price to drop and you have a backlog of stuff you can play...wait haha

waiting for something to go ps+ on the other hand...thats not something that may necessarily ever happen. albeit i guess its always smart to wait until the end of the week for new next week's ps+ games to be. announced. although would be a dick move on Sony's part if any of these sale games will be ps+ next month lol

Tempted by Mount and Blade, heard about it before it launched on the console. How good is the game? How active is the community?

I'd like to know to see if it's worth getting into for the price it's at lol

(edit) Same goes for Grand Ages: Medieval, any impressions on the game?

Is dead or alive worth it for $16? Never really played one but I'm tempted after seeing Tekken 7s release so far away...are they similar at all?

How's civ revolutions?

Solid, if you don't mind a simplified [streamlined might be a better word] civ [less units, etc]. Ultimately, I think I might like it more than regular civ because it doesn't steal your life for months at a time.

Sausage Party is essentially a movie that exploited its workers through intimidation

huh?

Well it is essentially the most disappointing movie of last year

My wife and I had the opposite experience. She picked it up from the library and we thought we'd last maybe 2 minutes before putting something else in. We both found it absolutely hilarious after expecting complete dreck.

Ys Celceta but not Ys Seven? Dammit. I guess it's because the latter is on PSP...

Adventures of Mana is any good? Or The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel?

If you enjoy turn-based JRPGs, Cold Steel is pretty cool. It's looong though. CS2 is wayyyy better, but you need to play the first one first to understand any of it.

I would recommend playing it on Hard, 'cause otherwise combat is too easy. (I played CS1 on Normal and CS2 on hard and CS2 had much better combat)

How is Shadow Complex?
It's pretty bad. The blandest Metroidvania ever. Soulless, grey, boring. Avoid, there's at least a dozen better Metroidvanias out there.

well it's not a game for everyone
Unlike Trails of Cold Steel and the super-essential The Technomancer? xD
