NA PSN Sale - Disney Day Sale

Played the kart racer a bit. It's not car, it's ok. Karts actually seem to be more rc than kart though.

Not sure on how many tracks but so far I behave raced in an attic and around a neighborhood around houses and through the street. Quite wide track actually

Inside the house was a really good track. Going down the stairs feels fine, up stairs and through the vent shafts to the bedroom on these tighter tracks the cars have a tight turning radius and it works well. Reminds me just a bit of revolt but not as good of course. A

A little slow but not bad. But sure if it will speed up but I do want to play more. Not bad.

So far played elimination, race and Smash the toys which is similar to battle in mario kart.

Controls are fairly right. Not perfect but not bad.
Graphics are sufficient, not a lot of pop in. If you have played toy story 2 it's a bit similar.

If you like kart racers or rc racers is definitely recommended . Keep in mind it's more focused on tight turns of you miss a u turn you can literally turn the opposite way and make it.

Anyone else having problems purchasing?
I talked to customer support and they said to buy a cash card from Gamestop. :(
I've tried 3 payment methods. --Maybe it's my network here at work. I'll try from home tonight.

I don't use my CC on PSN but you have to format your address weirdly for whatever reason.

Huh, the Customer Service rep asked if I had tried to add funds from the console, and since I was buying PS1 games I didn't try to do that on my PS4.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that when I get home.

Hercules PS1 and Split second.

GO.

Hercules PS1 is the best Hercules game outside of Herc's adventures

I tried Peter pan a bit yesterday. Sometimes I love the artistic looking textures in ps1 games. I didn't play much but it seems to be a sidetscrolling hold x to fly and release to descend game. From the first level you had a small multi path game. Creates a map guide for you as you go along. I'm intrigued to play more though.

i bought A Bugs Life and Monsters Inc since i had the other ps1 games that were 3d platformers.

neither of them are great sadly, but i kind of like Monsters Inc. its main conceit is you need to collect ooze to power up your scare level. Theres robots in each stage that require varying levels of scare power in order to be "collected". i dont think the level design is super great, and the concept doesnt work as well as it should - but directly tying the "coin"-type collectibles to the main one is a really interesting concept from a design perspective. also theres a swingy jazz soundtrack so thats a plus

A Bugs Life feels like it should have come out in 1996 when no one had time to copy Mario 64 yet. everything from its weird feeling movement (i cant really describe it but the acceleration on Flik is so bizarre) to its barely there level design littered with respawning enemies just feels dated even for an early 3d game. that this came out in 98 and that the team went on to do stellar work a year later with toy story 2 is kind of mind boggling to me. the games main mechanic seems to be slowly carrying seeds around to solve rudimentary puzzles which could be cool in a better game.

ill probably stick with monsters inc since its light, breezy and seems fairly short even with some blatant padding (every level needs to be visited twice).

I'll try them later and see how I feel in comparison to what your saying. I may like monsters. I will test bugs physics

If you seriously haven't played it yet, Split/Second is one of the funnest racing games I've ever played. Amazing little gem that went unnotice because it came out around the same time 2 or 3 other mediocre racing games came out. A shame Disney will probably never make a sequel to it. I actually bought the game the same day I got Red Dead Redemption and ended up getting the platinum in like 2 days. I didn't even want to touch RDR(which I consider to be a top 5 gotg).

Split/Second is that good.

Played it. It's ok, but not a lot of tracks and some samey tracks. Not the best but an ok mid tier game.

Careful guys, if you pick up Emperor's New Groove, beware of something scary beyond all reason

Bugs Life just has bad design and gameplay. I may continue through just to see if it has any redeeming parts.

Monsters does feel better. Better mechanics and gameplay without a doubt. I also prefer Peter pan over bugs life. Didn't try the other games yet.

Toy Story 2 is great. Played it a ton back in the day.

I remember a Bug's Life being all right too.

Edit: And no Atlantis? Was that never put on PSN? I recall liking that a good bit.

Then again, this is child me speaking, and game reviews from the time don't necessarily reflect the good feelings I harbor for these games.

Just figured to bump the thread, as the sale is still going on :).

If you missed out on any of these games on sale, the sale is going to be up until Tuesday Morning (before the PSN Store Updates).

I bought Toy Story 3 and Split Second.

Having some fun playing TS3 with my girlfriend. It's a fun enough co-op experience, and you can definitely see where the infinity series grew out of this game.

Split second is pretty fun, though it's harder than I expected. It feels like a mix of Outrun and Burnout, but lacking some of the satisfaction that the Burnout franchise offers. Worth 5 dollars if anyone is looking for a fun arcade racer.
