Name the most ridiculously impossible Achievements / Trophies in games

I'll go with a couple that haven't been mentioned.

Kick the Bucket - Beat Jordan on Expert (Guitar Hero 2)

I would consider myself an above average Guitar Hero player and I still have never come close to beating this song. I know there are videos out there of cyborgs getting 100% on it but I play with a lot of good players and none of them have gotten the achievement.

Tony Hawk's American Wasteland - Complete

It sounded easy enough. "Completed the game 100%" is all it says. So I get every other achievement, finish all the story and classic modes and unlock all the skate park pieces and nothing happens. I go online and find out that you need to find every gap in the game as well. F that.

Getting all 1000 points in DoA Extreme Beach Volleyball 2. I heard it was absolute hell.
This is the correct answer. Getting 1000 points in DoAX2 without cheating is the most ridiculous feat in the history of gaming.

The achievements are all related to collecting swimsuit collections. You play as one girl, and you can only buy her swimsuits. An entire collection costs about 15-20 million points or w/e. You need to buy this collection for yourself. Then you need to buy the same collection 8 more times in order to give to your partner. So that's about 140-200 million dollars per girl. So 1.8 billion, about. There are activities you play, earning about 200k if you win and nothing if you don't. You can only play about 60 activities per playthrough, if you ignore the other part of the game completely. To get more money than that, you can gamble in the casino, but it's entirely a gamble if you don't cheat it.

Okay, so just earning enough money for the swimsuits is a gigantic pain in the ass if you don't cheat. But getting the girl to actually take the suit is beyond the worst shit ever. You have to do one of those silly relationship games where you work your ass off giving your partner gifts and such and they are still snooty bitches that won't accept the swimsuit. I think with the patch the game got there's an amazing ~40% chance of a girl accepting a swimsuit, assuming she's head over heels in love with you. And can cost up to a million bucks to buy. And there are like 30 per girl, so you need to give like 250 this way, per girl. And once you do buy em, they have to be rebought to be gifted again. Furthermore, you can only have one or maybe two partners max per playthrough.

Oh and that's ignoring the last achievement, which requires you to get every item in the game and each girl's items count individually, so that means doing it 9 times. Oh and one of the items requires you to throwdown at least 50 million on slots hoping to hit the jackpot like 10 times in a row. Per character.

It's so fucking wonderfully terrible. I had wanted to earn the full 1000 points a few years back as a sort of terrible badge of honor, but gave up after like 5 soul crushing hours. I'd estimate it takes about 600 total, to do it without cheating.

One that sticks out in my mind - it's doable, but probably just a huge pain in the ass - is the Ridge Racer 6 Complete All Races Without Bumping Other Cars achievement. I never really gave it a serious try, but I don't think my fragile mind could've handled it.

Does anybody in the world have all 200 points in Super Smash TV for XBLA? Or Robotron or Joust?

Now those are fucking hard!

I like online achievements, because when I do get them I feel proud because I earned it.

Street Fighter 4, 10 Ranked wins, 500 online matches or MVC2 100 ranked wins.

Love both games and felt good to get those ones.

Getting 5 million dollars online in GTA IV takes a lot of grinding to get that top rank trophy.

About 50 hours of "noosing". No idea how I got suckered into doing this. Promised myself the GTA Platinum is the last absurd trophy I go for. Not that I don't somehow enjoy it, but I'd have a lot more fun clearing my awesome backlog. :/

You people saying Late Boomer is easy can go to hell. :'(

Shock and Awe is doable, though. Just hoard bombs for those annoying waves of red rocks, hope you don't get too many of those, and immediately go for the nukes when they spawn.

Not impossible but ridiculously tedious would be finding all the pidgeons in gta4.

Not something I am ever going to do.

there are plenty of video guides and maps for that. Spend a few hours and you can get it if you want.

Anyone who has 200 in Smash Tv is a cheater... the last Achievement is glitched and unattainable.

I can't believe that you guys thought Blue dragon was difficult O_o Most of the "tougher" achievements could be gotten by letting the game play itself for a couple of hours. The bosses were pushovers as well. Getting a million in cash wasn't that hard either when a certain 2-hit enemy gave you like 50k each time.

Lost Odyssey though. Treasure Trove. Without following a guide, you could go insane. Only 1 or 2 truly missable items in the game but having to spam the A button all over the map to check every tree in every forest, all pots, posters & open all treasure chests in every area, including invisible chests & search the entire sea floor for random items. Having to search every nook & cranny is usually just a saying but in LO you can take that literally. That's quite high up there on the annoyance scale. And you get 20 points for it...

The mini-games Blue Dragon Achievements were a pain... and the few missable enemies made it more difficult then it had to be. I got 100% on my first playthrough in 80 hours... but if you miss one of those mini-games... ugh!

Yeah Treasure Trove I lucked out on... I got to the final chest and it didn't open!!! Then I went underwater and found a chest... I prayed and "plink" Achievement Unlocked!

Star Ocean 4 - collecting the Battle Trophies... I got to 20% collected, getting all 900 trophies seems like it would take another 400 hours on top of the 120 I've already put in... not to mention that some of them are ridiculous (like, defeat 45000 enemies with one character)

2. Pretty much any Achievement in Pain

I used to think this exact thing until I realized that I just never played it enough to get the hang of it. After I looked up some youtube videos on how to do them, I got most of the non-DLC trophies after a few days of play. They are still somewhat hard, but not ridiculously impossible by any means.

I refuse to buy any of the PAIN DLC though, so I'm not sure how hard those trophies are.

Oh and since it hasn't been brought up yet, not a hard trophy at all, but 100% ridiculous. The USB Camera required trophy for Burnout :lol I'm at 99.9% or whatever, this being the last trophy I need (minus the DLC I won't buy) for every trophy in the game and the plat. I don't have a video camera that works, and don't feel like going out and buying one just for the trophy :lol

Also stupid are the online trophies for Skate2, as they require not only you to be good, but EVERYONE grouped with you to be good as well :lol Got 8 people trying to do one of the over 100+ events you need to do, but only he fails? Well you have to do it again and hope he doesn't fail this time (HE WILL).

Beat Smash TV with 1 credit. I didn't think it was possible, but some people claimed to have accomplished this feat... and have the achievement fail to activate. Nice Midway.

Can you survive the Apocalypse Flame?

I almost got this once and then I missed a Gatchi Counter and that dream died pretty quickly. One of these days I'll try it again when I'm feeling lucky.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKed_rrLUQs -This is a video of the achievement being completed.

Nice, was going to post that. And mad props ReXXX, that must've been a helluva lot practice.

You forgot the actual requirement: on the final boss, parry his 22 hit super move on Very Hard and then get a perfect victory. :lol

Wipeout HD: Most of the medals are tough as hell to get and some of them are just flat out stupid.

Pain: I havn't played the game in a long while, but just about every trophy is hard to impossible.

WarHawk:See above. Insanely difficult.

Wow, thats awesome. I have to get back to GTA4 some day. Its one Platinum I really want in my collection. The thing I dig about the inhuman/impossible/tedious/demanding trophies/achievements is the glory that comes after. Its like a testament to what other players didnt dare or didnt have the patience to do. The satisfaction is totally worth it.

Mad respect dude.

I think some of the Trash Panic ones are pretty much impossible.

I often tend to browse through trophies of people whom I have met online in a match. So I came across this japanese dude's profile, and going through his list I see nothing really outstanding... mostly half finished progress. Untill I came down to TrashPanic... it was like 67%... and get this... it was the 100 yen version.

Anything in Trash Panic or Pain.
In Wipeout HD, Beat Zico was a maddening 5 hour ride for me.
All the literally impossible achievements in Rayman Raving Rabbids that require a score that is unattainable.
Most of the achievements in Far Cry 2 seemed very time consuming and not fun for me.
'No Challenge Too Hard' in SF4.
Answer All Calls from Otis in Dead Rising. F*** him.

holy cow...that's exactly where my final one was. I spent days (well, several hours per day) combing every nook and cranny for that thing and BAM!, there it was in plain view at the top of the dome. I would have never thought that was a commonly missed one...I just felt stupid, haha.

Ok, so it isn't just me. I also DETEST online achievements/trophies with a passion. I think achievements and trophies can add replay value to a game and can be fun to show off to your friends, but I typically don't even mess with online achievements if they are ridiculous.

The problem with GTA4 is, that noosing doesnt take a lot of skill. Getting to 5 Million $ is just a test of patience and commitment.

Still, the payoff you get from finally hearing that final (trophy)Ding for the game youve been "working" on for some time is just 100% satisfaction (que haters saying "YOU PLAY GAMES FOR FUN NOT WORK).
I dont play many games, but i make damn sure that every one i have has either been platinumed or 100%ed.

But who needs proof of patience when you can have proof of m4d skillz right?

1. Beat the Ultimate Endurance Tournament in Trials HD without a fault

Seriously, no one in the entire 360 universe has that achievement. The best anyone has done according to the leaderboards is 10 faults.

I fucking LOATHE achievements like this. It's a poke in the eye, and it makes me uninterested in going for the rest of the achievements, because I know I'll never do that. In a game that's already masochistic, that achievement is just crazy.

No problem broseph.:D

Really want to get started on Demon's souls, but alas its not out in Europe yet. Im holding out my hope for a european release.

But in a sense trophies are for us "nerds" an e-sport. I LOVE working on my profile and collecting those trophies tedious or not ... the end result of seeing that platinum next to a game you have strikes a smirk across my face.

So I noticed with the new Xbox interface you can scroll through your achievement panels lightning fast. I went through the 200 or so that I've got. Not one was maxed out. Go me.

I've read the thread and it seems that the vast majority of games mentioned here are from Japanese developers. I'm an achievement whore and I've never been a fan of JPN game achievements. It almost seems like they feel they should be too hard instead of fun and challenging.

I think playing the endless setlist 2 without stopping or pausing or failing is pretty ridiculous. It takes about 6 hours to do.

My wife and I did the endless setlist 2 on expert and that was another crazy trophy. We started at about 6:30 or 7 at night and paused it to eat dinner, get drinks, have some dip etc, but once 10pm hit and the kids were to bed we pretty much played non stop until 4:30 in the morning when we finally beat it.

I'll tell you though, I was playing bass, and getting to that mother fucking Dream Theater song and not being able to do it, knowing that there was only one or two more songs to go, and having put 8 hours into it nearly made me lose my freaking mind. I just could NOT fricking play that song, and by some miracle I made it through after about 10 tries. My hand was doing its thing, and my brain was turned off. I don't know what I would have done if I wouldn't have been able to beat that song after investing so much time.

:lol

They probably take the definition of ''achievement'' or ''trophy'' quite litterally.

I hear Metal Slug XBLA is friggin brutal too.

Another L4D achievement after people mentioned Nothing Special: Untouchables. Maybe there's an easy exploit way to get this but I've never seen it. You have to have NOBODY get hit after contacting the rescue vehicle in a finale. Note that typically 500ish zombies and 12+ special infected and 2 tanks spawn during a finale, plus more can spawn while you are waiting to get to the rescue vehicle.

I'm about to get my 10th 100% complete game with Shadow Complex, but one thing annoying about this thing is when DLC achievements are added, I'd have a couple more otherwise.

Yeah, this is hard. I did it I think 3 times but only on Death Toll, it's really easy for the Tank to come and a boomer gets a lucky barf on you, then it's pretty much over. Nothing Special was way harder though, I even had that the whole campaign and a smoker grabbed someone while we were going to the rescue vehicle...arg. L4D was easily the hardest 1000 I have.

Yep, there's an achievement for 1CC'ing the game of course, and each level has an achievement for completing it without a death. That, and there's no level select or save states to allow you to practice on trouble areas, so that's another kick in the balls.

I've only managed to beat the first 4 missions without a death. The final level is soooooooo fucking long, I don't think I'll be able to do it without devoting an entire day to practicing it :lol

Only the "Complete the game on one credit" is hard, the others are kinda easy to get. (I still have yet to time the zombie attack and complete it totally as a zombie in Mission 3 on the XBLA version like I can the X-box version. :|)

Yeah, Dead Rising has a lot of hard ones. Saint in particular for me, which is save 50 survivors. I forget the amount of survivors in total you can save, but that allows for basically no leeway and the survivors are idiots so babysitting all of them on a tight schedule is terrible.

Glad so many people are with me on this. GRAW is the epitome of shitty online achievements. I quit the game because I knew I could never 100% it. Same with the shitty GTAIV online.

CoD4 got it right at least with points for single player and a whole separate list for multiplayer with it's own rewards (though they could have scaled the points better on a handful).

As for easy but time consuming. DMC4 collect a million proud souls. Took me 100 hours to get that.

Nice to see this thread back as I just finished maxing out SoTN xbla version, I beat the game originally 2 years ago when it was launched on live but with having to change my gamer tag I took a break out instead of playing the entire game again so soon, finally 200.6% the castle and beat it with Richter at last, best thing is that I never ever played the game at all before the live release so it's the first time I have explored all the game and done everything, feels good but it's taken me a year too long to achieve :P

Any webcam "should" work, but they dont. I tried 5 different webcams from the various people i know and none of them worked =/. "unknown usb device has been connected / detected" or something like that.

As far as i know, the xbox cam is one of the few that actually work.

Its a shame, the mugshot trophy is the last i need for the burnout plat.
