Name the most ridiculously impossible Achievements / Trophies in games

Be Gentle With Her in Prince of Persia. The requirement is to have Elika save you less than 100 times. It's not difficult per se, but I dislike how it's all but impossible to earn in the same run as the 1001 light seeds achievement. I prefer games with linear campaigns to have achievements that are all unlockable in a single run. Mass Effect's achievement are alright because the game's ridiculously replayable. In general, though, I like to do one run for achievements and the rest for pleasure. It cramps my style to spend too much time chasing after pointless awards, but I feel obligated to raise my gamerscore as much as possible because I have a sort of running competition with some friends.
Another really, really irritating one is GTA4's Liberty City Minute, for which you have to speed run the story missions. Not cool, because the last thing you want to do in an open world game is rush through the experience.

Socom has got the most impossible trophies among all the PS3 games.
I can always get at least one trophy for any Ps3 game that I play except for this game.

I'm surprised noone has mentioned DMC4. Getting S on every level on every difficulty (except one or two) may not be impossible per se but they sure as hard. Ironically, easy mode is the hardest :lol Enemies die too fast so you can't get that many style points.
The Hall of Famer ach in Rockstar's Table Tennis is a bit annoying too. You gotta win 50 ranked tournaments to get 100 points.
Someone mentioned RR6 too. You gotta complete (and get in first place ofc) every level, normally & reversed, with every car class without using nitrous & without hitting other vehicles or walls. Combined, that's around 500 races if you win every race, which you won't
Then there's the "story mode". And I think you need to win at least 250 online battles, usually against insane Japanese guys. GLHF.Hypereides

There is no luck involved it's just all skill which is what I think makes this trophy particularly noteworthy. However the skill needed to get this trophy is insane. So much so that I'd bet that no one on NeoGAF has gotten the trophy and very few of you are capable of doing so even if you dedicated the rest of the year to just that game.

IIRC, if you get a decent combo in on Robotnik early in the match, he has a hard time dealing with it. The second-to-last stage is often more difficult.

I have two cameras and a web cam, and the PS3 doesn't support any of them. Call me crazy, but that achievement/trophy is dumb.

80% of the dynasty warriors gundam 2 trophies. i've played for weeks, every night, for 2 or 3 hours a night, and i only have 2 fucking trophies. all of the rest are like "100,000 kills" or "clear mission mode with 5 characters". im sure most of the top tier trophies will all be obtained around the same time. ie: by the time i have 100,000 kills i will have also gotten all rank 4 parts, cleared mission mode with several characters, as well as story mode, etc.

Got the last 3 or 4 weapon master achievements that I needed within an hour :lol
Figuring that out let me outpace another guy for the first 1000 GS in the game (excluding the two people who got it early).

I don't consider myself a great gamer but I managed to get Zone Zeus, mostly through sheer force of will. I think I got about 81 zones in the end.

That's sort of wrong, it relies on a trust system. If you KS you loose trust and it depends on who you play with as well.

Apparently there's an easy glitch to get this trophy. You have to save and quit just before confronting the final boss on your first playthrough. Then start a new game on a new save file and after playing a few minutes save and quit this one as well. Now reload the first game, beat the final boss and after the credits you get the trophy as well as the speed trophy regardless of how many times you died becasue it takes the info from the last save.

Mile High Club on Call of Duty 4.
It's the only achievement I don't have for the game and I doubt I'll ever get it. It's so frustrating due to it being cheap and requiring some luck on top of being skilled. Just thinking about it now pisses me off.

I agree. A million times over. Most recent offender being Monkey island. You have to skip half the dialogue in order to complete the time achievement.painey said:

Also QQ. I did it/beat the game all on Veteran with a three day rental of the game. Sure, MHC takes a bit of luck and is frustrating to do, but if you want it enough it's doable and looking at Youtube for videos (there's a good one that shows where to throw the flashbangs, where to pick up the extra flashbangs, where to spray with the MP5 to kill enemies) you can do it.

In fact the only hard ones are the 1 to 100 item worlds and the total luck of getting the item world enemies to appear. Everything else is do-able in a day.

I did it for my first play-through of GTA4. It's COMPLETELY possible to do without cut-scene skipping if you do the above.

The main trick with survivors is to follow them instead of having them follow you. Clear a path, set a waypoint in the clearing, clear more, send them ahead, etc. Ideally they're armed, but that isn't always feasible... But yeah, it's much more efficient this way, at least much better than trying to have them follow you. Maybe.Papercuts said:
And this topic has really opened my eyes to what "achievement whore" really means. I think the only game I've completed is Banjo-Kazooie on XBLA, and those are all stupid easy and all but one is gotten in a 100% run through of the game anyway.

Yeah but like most of us, it eventually became learning where the enemies were about to appear and memorization because it took so long.
I must have spent 4 hours trying to get the damn achievement.

I posted earlier that I got the 1% trophy in KZ2, but you people who got the Elite mode trophy fucking blow me away. I made it to chapter 3 in Elite and was like, FUCK THIS. Stupidly, insanely hard. And then just imagining the Radek battle.........

As for impossible achievements, I'd have to say the old school XBLA games. I will never get all of the achievements in Smash TV, Robotron, or Joust.
5 starring everything on expert in GH2 and GH3 is pretty hard as well. If only because I'm so close to them. Damn you Miserlou, Psychobilly Freakout, and Raining Blood.
