Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 demo impressions

The 360 version looks insane. Like I didn't know if I was playing a game or playing an anime.

Um, the game looks far better than the anime ever has, even with the good animation team. :lol

Kind of unrelated to the demo, but I wanted to know this answer already for a while.

So I watched Naruto untill the big Naruto VS Sasuke fight. How far do I have to keep watching after this untill I can skip to Shippuuden? Because there is a lot of filler, right..?

Episode 135 is the last canon episode of Naruto. The last 5 mintues of episode 220 are also canon but are not necessary. After that you can start watching Shippuden however you should find a list detailing all the filler episodes in Shippuden so you can skip them as well.

Why doesn't someone put real effort into a current gen One Piece game :/.

If someone put this much effort into ALL anime games. Hell i'd like to see someone go back a do a Yu Yu Hakusho fighting game in this fashion (which would be awesome beyond belief). Beautiful, fast, and smooth.

Retail version is supposed to be online too?

EDIT: I'll download the PS3 demo to compare.

Now if only we could get games like this that aren't based of kids cartoons.

Depends on which "kids cartoons" we're talking about here. :D

I can only imagine what a game of this type could look like, married with a much more manly property like Cyborg 009, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, the aforementioned YuYu Hakusho, a Dynamic Productions (Mazinger/Getter Robo) collab, Otokojuku, Saint Seiya...SOME THING!

I mean, I don't blame the likes of CC2 and Bamco for going with what easily sells, but even compared to what they were willing to put out during the PS2 era, it leaves something to be desired.

You know what this game needs?

PHOTOMODE.

Seriously, you could make some AMAZING Anime prints with this engine. Just let the game render the images w/some AA and it would be MARVELOUS. God I wish it would happen :( Even if it only did 5x7 sized images.

Downloaded the 360 demo was shocked at how quickly it DL'ed it was like 3 mins. :lol

Anyway game look gorgeous love the animations.

Kids cartoon.. pshh. I think it's mainly for older teens. I guess you could call that a kids cartoon.

Misleading game description says "First ever online-multiplayer battles for the Naruto gaming franchise" when that the first game to ever have online is Naruto: Rise of a Ninja.

Still the demo is awesome!

Today's "shounen" manga, like Naruto, are more for (yaoi-lovin') fangirls than anything else. :lol

Hey

Hey

You better not be besmirching One Piece with this wide-ass brush

That said, I don't think the fascination with Sasuke is a play to the shoujo base. Kishimoto really, really likes Sasuke.

All :lols aside, it's true though. Most modern-day "shounen" manga/anime does more to cater to the interests of fangirls than the "young boys" that the genre is known for. Because after all, it's said fangirls that are the ones that are most prone to buy all of the various merchandise with their heartthrobs' faces on them.

It's nothing really new though. Attracting girlies to the genre is a practice that's been going on since at least the 90s, and when the likes of Gundam W (which married manly mecha action with pretty boy ANGST + ambiguous HoYay) proved that there's a whole other market that was previously untapped. The manga of today simply just does more to continue in that same vein.

You're ruining this for me :(

I think you are way off. It's not the 80's/early 90's anymore.

If you really need that much in the way of proof of concept, just go look up the Sengoku BASARA fan community. Most of it is made up of fangirls who are more likely to not even have played the games, and are really only in it for the sake of their favorite voice actors voicing cool bishounen types like Masamune and Yukimura (who of course, are a favorite pairing for yaoi lovers). :lol

THAT is why Sengoku BASARA is Capcom's new cash cow. It's not so much due to the games themselves, certainly.

I mean, he's not entirely incorrect. Manga artists do like to include girls and some stuff, like Gundam Wing, was made for girls.

I wouldn't say they're "more" for girls than any other demographic, though.

exactly. you could say that there are just as many shojou shows that cater to the body pillow crowd moreso than young girls.

I would still say that the Naruto fanbase is predominantly male. Shows like One Piece have a wider appeal and more female fans, but I don't think they exactly cater just to a female audience. (Boa Hancock? 0_0 )

I really gotta finish watching naruto before playing this game. Last episode I watched was when naruto summoned Gamabunta. :(

Had a quick play of the demo last night.

Didn't seem to play any differently to the original, not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing :lol

Still love the artwork though!

Still holding out for a one piece or DBZ game using this engine. One thing that this gen has lacked severely is shonen videogame adaptations. Sure we can play stuff like ultimate jump stars on the DS, but nothing like that exists for the consoles and thats a shame. I'm buying this as soon as I get the cash for it. Bought the first one and enjoyed it, the only thing I didn't like was the lack of characters and this one seems to be remedying that(what was it, 23 playable characters now?)

Played the demo twice, and will picking up the full game.

I will say, that as someone that isnt far removed from the first one, Im not sure that I can tell one bit of difference in terms of gameplay from the first one.

Oh boy you have like 250 episodes to go without counting the filler! That's like 100 hours. I envy you :(
