album gets better and better with repeated listens. It's DAMN good.

K'naan's verse on Tribal War...damn.
Yeah that's one of my fav parts of the album.

This album is fucking ridiculous.........!!!

Nah mean is the dopest beat I heard in ages, I'm gonna be bumpin' this LP for ages.

Fuckin classic

Just got this album today and I can't stop listening to it. It is that amazing. This thread deserves a bump. More people need to pick this up if they like good music.

I keep meaning to check this out, since I've been a big fan of Nas for years.

Thanks for the bump to remind me. Will get a copy of this ASAP.

I only have Illmatic, and I think it's pretty much the best rap/hip-hop release I've ever heard. Should I grab this or something else first?

His other stuff isn't much like Illmatic, unfortunately. I really like his second album (It Was Written) but it's a straight up mafioso rap album, which may not appeal to people looking for more personal content.

Distant Relatives seems like it would be a nice album for just about anyone to pick up. Nice mixture of bangers and introspective/personal tracks

This album is classic. Even fools who don't like rap should try this. It's great music period.

Really? How are they related? And how did they find out about this?
Common DNA strands have been lingering in their gene pool for thousands of years.

I haven't been able to stop listening to this album for like 2 weeks.

I was drinking at my friend's bar for another friend's birthday, and after the place died down I had him hook my iphone up to bump this in the entire place.

So.Fucking.Good.

Thanks to this thread I just picked this beauty up from amazon mp3, sounds good so far.
Jr. Gong Ft Nas is more like it though :D

I decided to buy this with some Amazon MP3 credits from buying games and I have to say its VERY, VERY good and I'm not into new rap much. I have to say though its Damien Marley that makes this album special. He really carries it and gives it all a very powerful sense. All races and lovers of other music genres I think can I appreciate it. Bob Marley would be proud.

Too good and positive to win anything so I imagine it will be overlooked come awards time but there is no question this album deserves some recognition. Buy it, don't steal it.

It's a shame this album didn't get more attention, I finally got a chance to buy it and I'm halfway through and think it's absolutely amazing. So good.

Is Damien Marley's other stuff this good? He's really good on this album.

Seriously people stop sleeping on TSOL
Canadians seem to be the only people who like Shad. (I love TSOL.) Besides, this album has mass appeal because of Nas.

I love the album. Great mix of slow(er) reggae tracks that Nas actually works his delivery into, and then the flip happens where it will be a faster beat, more tuned to Nas, and Marley will shoot his verses a little faster to match tempo. Amazing. I simply love the fact that I learn shit while I listen.

Patience was the song that got me to buy the album, but Land of Promise is my absolute favourite. Imagine if Africa was North America and the tables were turned. That thought burrows deep into my brain every time the song plays.

The fact that the album booklet has miniature history lessons on Africa and some of its amazing accomplishments throughout history makes it worth the buy.

About to go see these two live in about an hour! ! ! ! !
Lucky. They need to announce a Distant Relatives II: Family Reunion or something.

Ehh, no thanks.... I thought the album was okay, but I'd rather Nas go back to making more traditional hip hop

I could have seen them last weekend but decided to watch Miike Snow instead. Disappointed cause I really like what I've heard from them

Wow, wasn't even aware that Nas had, had anything in the works. Looking forward to picking this up even though I wasn't a big fan of "Untitled" I like everything else he has done.

WTT gets a hundred page thread, this got... two.

I fucking adore this album, Nas spitting on Strong Will Continue... so good.

The bump made me hope for a Distant Relatives 2 with K'naan on every song... I live disapointed.
