//: NASL Starcraft 2 League - Season 2

Could be fun! Shame about all the koreans but most of the foreigner "elite"(lol) seems to be there, so it could still produce some awesome games.

I don't think I've seen a single damn game from this season, but it looks like the finals will be entertaining. Hear me now: SEN TO TAKE IT ALL.

With that bracket, there is a >90% chance the finals will be:

HerO or Huk

vs

Puma

Pretty weak line up really. Pretty good when it comes to foreigners, but with only 3 Koreans attending, two of whom are notable, and only one of whom is even in GSL, it's got to be the least competitive tournament since Koreans started traveling overseas.

I wonder what kind of viewership they are getting this season compared to last season. I honestly haven't watched a complete game yet and I was all over last season. Looks to be a pretty meh line up.

Gretorp being their main caster isn't helping their ratings. I can't stand listening to him.

When I watch the NASL finals, I intend to mute it and watch a stream of other pros on skype talking about the games.

I don't know about >90%, but of course the most likely finals is Her0 vs Puma. Still, Sen or even Dimaga could give Her0 or Huk some real trouble, and it's at least conceivable that Puma could lose in his half (zen-mind Idra???). Gretorp really is terrible, though.

I haven't watched any of NASL2 period and don't feel like I've missed anything. With GSL and MLG, and some side of IPL, my SC2 game needs are more than sated.

The latest article on TL is right, NASL need to do what IPL have done, put less emphasis on the season so it doesnt look like a giant fail.

They need to do what everyone has been telling them. Listen to the community.
Everyone gives suggestions and they just dont care or dont know how to do it.

After Dreamhack/MLG/IPL3 finals I wonder what different NASL will do this finals or will it be the same as last time.

Is there anyone here who watched the whole season? Or even half the season?
I didnt pay for either season, thankfully. I did watch some stuff, but no where near that amount.

So this thread for finals?

Should be good this time, hopefully no tech problems and 55.56% of their casters are good/good enough.

I hope so. The players were much better last time, the casters probably won't be much better either. I'm assuming they've learned a thing or two about the importance of proper production, so I'm anticipating that will be stellar. The format of the whole thing has still kinda been silly, but whatevs.

Here are the brackets for the finals:

And here are my probably horrifically off (and badly edited) predictions:

The caster line up is weak sauce, like the player line up.

As for the finals, it would be nice to have a HerO vs Puma rematch, but HerO has to get through two PvPs in a row to get to the finals and PvP is often a toss up.

I would say HerO and Huk are slightly favored but either of them could lose in Ro16. HasuObs is the guy who took out Huk in TSL3.

I'll definitely agree about pvp. I did my predictions pretty quickly, I think the reason I placed HasuObs so low vs Huk is that I think Huk is on fire atm, and also my most recent memory of HasuObs was when he got crushed by Puma 3-1 at guangzhou.

Have to say the format of this tournament is done is better than all others, bo5 single elim with seeding. Its how all tournaments should run.

I think puma wins this one.

Eh, I'm looking forward to this. It's obviously not a top-tier tournament, but there will be some good matches.

And it's supposed to start pretty much now, right?

Both false. None of these players would have looked out of place at an MLG, IPL or Dreamhack. Perhaps a Hwangsin or a Brat-ok or a TT1 aren't the strongest, but hey they may surprise. We know why there's no representatives of Korean teams.

Caster bashing is getting really old too. Whenever I hang out on TL or some other SC2 website or chat room during an important tourney, the fans are arguing about who hates caster X more. In the meantime, there's epic games, sick micro, nice come-backs, compelling story lines. And in IRC, I read "I hate Catspajamas more than you!" "Husky is for noobs!" These people don't care about the game, they're there for the gossip

I kinda like the player line up, but that's probably just my EU bias.

But a dozen casters for one stream? I don't know about that....

After watching DOTA2, I can't look at HON or LOL. They're just too busy. Too hard for me to tell what's going on.

Alrighty it's 3PM let's watching some (360p) Starcraft!

...

Wtf is this HON crap?

Player lineup is fine with me. Haven't been paying much attention to this, didn't realize incontrol went 0-7.

360 is seriously the highest for free viewers?

what. the. fuck.

also, where is the SC2? who cares about hon.

I watched almost all of Season 1 and it got me into watching SC2...haven't watched a single episode of this season :o

I paid 25 bucks for season one because I wanted to support the NASL. I watched maybe 3-4 games live since my subscription bugged and I couldn't watch any of the VoDs. I thought that they would finally improve after all the criticism but failing to even give us free 480p? Come on NASL.

Trolling? A multi-month season leading up to the possibility of flying out just to lose 3 maps and you're out?

I paid for the first season and obviously didn't pay for the second. I'm probably not going to watch much of any of these grand finals weekend, even if the player list isn't that bad discounting the lack of Koreans (DH didn't have many Koreans either!)

I hope the games are good for those who decide to watch this weekend, and I'll probably tune in for the live lo3 since the stream quality for that isn't that important anyways.

What is the stream quality of free mlg, 360p as well right?

I think you can choose from low or medium. Low is probably 240p while medium either 480/360.

Well, at least their 360p bit rate isn't of 36p equivalence. cough-cough GOM.

Sure, but the difference is that GOM provides a much better service and much better games. So you don't feel cheated when you pay them.

God I'm a sap, I may drop the $10 for this just to watch tonight and tomorrow.

It sucks but damn me if NASL doesn't have the absolute best HD stream around (when it's working).

It's possible they've fixed the issues they had at the start of season two but they were still pretty shit at audio & IPL3's stream was probably the best HD stream considering it was 60fps.

Disagree, NASL's 1080 has the best pq around to me, but I didn't watch a lot of IPL until the very end of the tournament. Dreamhack Valencia was maybe the best ever, but for whatever reason last week's DH was a small downgrade in quality (at least, as I see it on my setup at home).

I haven't been able to try NASL's 1080, but Dreamhack was pretty good. MLG, unfortunately, has 1080p but it's still got really weird compression issues.

Someone should post a pic of NASL 1080 later, so I can judge :D

So...are there really only a handful of people in attendance? I just turned it on, and those intros for the players looked like a sad scene :(
