I'd like to see more of this but I must admit, I'm not that excited currently. Uncharted 4 was great, Last of Us Part 1 was brilliant. Part 2, I've mixed feelings about.
6 years is a long time between releases. How much of the studio was working on TLOU Factions?
In a totally unrelated point. I was playing the original PS2 Jak and Daxter the other night. It's crazy to think the studio that made such a fun and wholesome game, became a studio that deals in brutal gore, 'modern' sensibilities and now has reached a point where most are dubious of their next game and arguing over haircuts
I do miss that old studio. The old back catalogue is legendary.
the absolute fascination for gore and violence at nd comes from neil druckmann. He developped very unhealthy obsessions growing up, then as soon as he had control he put his sadistic tendencies in his games and rationalized it with his supposed inclusive message. He is a "violence serves a purpose guys don't you see ?" type of edgelord. It is truly strange seeing a 40 something successfull dude having this mindset.
This is what bothers me about the whole studio situation. He took a studio once known for making light hearted caricatured adventure games and turned it into a misery theatre. They should've divided the studio into two teams; team 1.: that's lead by his desire for edgy violence along with his storytelling and team 2.: that continues to carry the torch of the light hearted, humourful and fun-loving games they established themselves on and imaginate IPs/worlds in that direction.
Might as well opt for rename of the studio to "Nightmare hound" with the new philosophy they've taken.
That's the bit i don't understand and i would love a deep dive documentary into this, a proper next gen TLOU factions game could've been great and if it was sucking up masses of resources at ND or as they quoted if successful would mean ND becoming a MP studio.. then why in the fuck didn't they hand it off to another studio or give it to Bungie to run with, instead the whole thing was shitcanned at a cost of millions and countless talented Dev hours wasted for a game that now lives on ND's server... beggars belief and now Sony is left with a subpar Marathon... and let's not even mention Concord.. fucking idiotic wouldnt be in it, a proper original live service game that isn't a clone of a million other looter shooter games

isn't that how they operate anyways? the main team (A) is say working on Uncharted 4 with a smaller team (B) on TLOU2, UC4 releases, the majority move over to team (B) to get TLOU2 over the line whilst team (A) gets to work on the next game
Failed miserably??? Some of yall just spreading any type of BS now. You can hate the game because the character is bald, or because Neil Druckman is directing, but dont spread lies when the consensus was Bebop and Akira when the trailer first dropped. You would have to be blind, grifting or trolling to say anything different.

What consensus are you on about? I remember people were dejected that after years of development and Factions cancellation, they only had to show this weird 80's nostalgia trailer complete with stupid product placement.
By the way im not sure what is the blocky shite you posted but this is the swordfish 2. Notice the graceful figure and slender design.

Nah he is right, TLOU2 was enough Druckmann for me to last a life time. There's no way I'm paying money to play as some ugly bald chick while suffering more of his drivel.
I'm done with ND games until someone else is making em
Unless someone is doing something genuinely heinous then I don't really care what their ideals are. I'm fairly certain that there have been far worse people in the industry. I think social media has turned people into morons.

I think there's more to it. I would bet my car that Druck wanted nothing to do with a multiplayer game. Catering to those unwashed masses and having to do interviews on multiplayer subjects? Yeah no thanks. Bungie negging it was a convenient excuse. Neil doesn't want to be associated with that type of commodity gaming. That might work at a smaller publisher, but a platform holder like Sony cannot be beholden to an artist's whims. Herm needs to order what we should be ordering, and if it makes Neil walk, so be it. You can't put PlayStation on hold to fluff this guy's balls.
You people take this shit way too seriously, me getting double enjoyment from the drama in the forum and the actual game is a better net result than most people in here who cant laugh at the woke stuff or people who dont buy any game with even 5% of woke in it, i get the best of both worlds.
If the game was actually 90% complete and great like they claim, it makes no sense whatsoever to not release it, sell a few million units, sell their season 1 skins and battle pass, and then just abandon it or farm maintenance and skins out to another studio. They would have almost certainly made all their money back and then some, and absolutely would have made far more than the "write down" saved them on taxes.
The fact that didn't happen tells us the game was in actuality either far from complete and in development hell, or so shitty Sony thought a tax write down was more profitable than the game would have been. The outright cancellation suggests, with a very high degree certainty, the game was absolutely NOT 90% complete and "great".

No, Bungie never had any power to say Naughty Dog, Nintendo or Rockstar to don't release their games. This is nonsensical.
Like any other development studio they can only do this with their own game.
Bungie GaaS specific stuff joined the GaaS specific stuff experts of the other Sony studios who work in GaaS, plus PS Studios and SIE publishing to make the SIE Live Service Centre of Excellence. That team shared GaaS specific stuff knowledge, experience and set a series of reviews of the GaaS specific things of the Sony games at different points of their lifetime to give info, feedback and suggestions to the team. That doesn't mean at all that this team -and even less Bungie- has or had any power to shut down these games or tell them to shut it down.
If that would be the case they'd have released it. But pretty likely wasn't at 90% complete (if something, maybe was 90% of being ready to show it) and wasn't that great. But obviously the devs who make a game, particularly their director obviously loves their game almost as if it as their child.
