I don't understand the topic title

New IP and TLOU3 are an obvious bet.
Since they're a multiple studios team both projects are already in development but realistically the TLOU online debacle has made them lose some time.
Now it's about shifting all resources to the other projects to speed up the development of those games.
Seems a similar situation to the one that Santa Monica had in the PS4 gen, Stig Asmussen's game was cancelled and it took a while until GOW 2018.

Could care less about TLOU3 or whatever - Bring us a new medieval fantasy IP, doubt it'll rival something like the Witcher 3 but would be interesting to see what ND can pull out the hat.

Makes you wonder if we'd have gotten one of them by now had they not been working on that multiplayer fiasco..
You did not read theyr comment, there was a seperate team working on the MP game, the main team was working on a singleplayer game. To finish the MP game they would have to pull a great part of the main team away that was working on the single player game. So they stopped the MP game and are concentrating 100% on the singleplayer game...thats what is happening

But I take it had they not wasted an entire team on the multiplayer game that same team could have been working on these titles instead.
that MP was working seperatly, to finish the MP game they had to take a big part of the singleplayer team out of theyr work to help the MP team. And that was not worth it. So thats why they stopped the MP game its not that hard to understand....

I mean I get that.. What I'm saying is those same people could've been working on these games instead. Judging by the recent news they never even needed to create a separate multiplayer team to begin with. Those people could've just stayed at the two pre-existing teams and all the new hires could've gone to the pre-existing teams.

They haven't released a game that scored under 90% on MC since Uncharted 1 in 2007.

Yes, they have. Uncharted Lost Legacy MC 84

Best move for ps5. Buy on last year of gen an play their 10-12 great exclusives or play on pc at this point. ND next game probably will be out in 26-27 only.

I'd move the TLOU Online people to work on the two new SP games, and when ready I'd open a 3rd SP track to work on:
  • Uncharted 5: The daughter is investigating the Atlantis, while at home Nate and Sully remember their first adventures comparing them to the current ones of the daughter. At some point they go to help her. You play as young Nate, adult Nate, Sully and the daughter
  • New IP: Fantasy in alien planets and space, with humor like Uncharted, don't go too serious and dramatic
  • TLOU3: Ellie and Tommy find and kill Abby curring her head off with a chainsaw in the intro. Both remember stories they had with Joel, you play with the 3 characters. Mixing these stories with something they found where they killed Abby they find who the Ellie parents were and why she is inmune.
Some small team would overview and support externally developed:
  • TLOU2R (for PS5, and some time later its PC port)
  • Uncharted VR (developed by Firesprite, imagine an evolved Horizon CoM), with the daughter as main character and Nate as sidekick, but you also play as Nate in some portions of the game

I don't know why people think a 2025 release isnt realistic for their next game. What do people think everybody who wasn't working on Factions were doing? They have 700+ employees. Naughty Dog almost for sure has been in full production with their new IP since 2020. I think Naughty Dog ran into problems underestimating the length of creating a GAAS game. They couldnt work on 3 seperate projects and TLOU3 needs to be a priority by 2027 or 2028 release to coincide with the TV show

They could be working on 10 for all we care, that shit ain't coming till the end of the PS5 cycle at the earliest. This gen is lost for ND but hey guys enjoy another Last of Us remaster from us...Maybe they can do yet another Remake of Part 1 again to extend their portfolio 😂 They can remaster the remake of the remaster.

Ill make a bet with you right now. If Im right, we switch tags. Their new game will be announced next year and released in under a year.

If not for this MP disaster we could've had a new game next year. Now, who knows when we'll actually play the next ND game, 2026 if we're lucky?
Their next game? likely.....but they had two diff teams for the games, not like they are just starting now. Wasn't there a rumor they'd show the game sooner than we think? I'll stay positive for now...

but, up until 2 days ago, they were doing exactly that, eh? for how long? never mind the fact that, up until 15 months ago, there was staff working on the tlou remake. i'm wondering how just long it took them to realize they'd bitten off a bit too much. was that whole 'bungie expresses concern' thing nothing but an excuse (& a sorta sleazy way of passing any blame onto bungie?) allowing sony/nd to do what they'd finally managed to admit to themselves that they had to do if they still wanted at least one major single player game out before the end of the generation?...

Factions was put on the back burner at least 6 months ago, probably longer. And to my knowledge, it was another studio that did the majority of TLOU1 remake, not ND. TLOU 3 is rumored to have began full production back in July. I think overall, ND underestimated how much manpower it takes to continually pump out GAAS content to have it contend with the Fortnite, Warzone, and Apex Legends. Or maybe it just wasn't very good, idk? ND has made great multiplayer before, but never with a co-op focus, which Factions certainly would have been

I've said it before, but the Werewolf movie poster in the The Last of Us was such a tease for me.

I want a good Werewolf game.
