I'll reserve judgement until the game is actually released. An Alpha version of the game is bound to look crappy.

With that said, EA has been hiding this game big time. When they said they would start from scratch, I was skeptical of the timetable.

Doesn't look great. Probably a really early build, so maybe the final product will be better, but that wasn't too promising.

Will most likely stick with 2K13. 2K12 was fantastic.

yeah... this looks really early.. like assets are missing from the game. If this is a digital release only... it might be to test awareness... or basically release a beta to retail.

I ultimately think this will just get delayed till they have a game worthy enough for at least an 8/10

i mean... at the end of the day this is EA and not some upstart. I have faith they'll put out a quality product. I just can't believe this is it.

madden would probably be neck and neck with 2k13... 8 Years ago EA acknowledged 2K made a better product and 2K5 sold a significant amount to worry EA... considering the momentum and mindshare 2K Sports had... it's safe to assume 2K Sports would have surpassed EA Sports in quality and possibly sales.

if 2K decide to get back into sports next gen... it's a fresh start for both companies. EA is clearly dropping the ball in terms of quality so 2K can overtake them.

That looked pretty bad. I can't remember where I read this, but has anyone ever heard of the NBA setting a time frame for anyone who wants to use their license? I think it said the first week of October. If that is true Live 13 would have to release the same day as 2K13, but as of now it set to the end of the month on Gamefly.

I know Gamefly is not a real reliable source for release dates, but the date is also a Wednesday which would back up a previous posts theory of a digital game.

To be fair, 2k dropped the ball pretty bad for hockey and baseball, while EA and Sony have done great. NBA 2k's great, but that's all they really have- and now they really have no competition.

They didn't. Development started last fall (Nov IIRC) as if it was a normal cycle.

This seems to be the only solution to them getting a decent basketball sim out. They did a bunch of things right with 2K10 and it was the right direction to take the franchise. They need the wang.
