NBA Playoffs 2019-2020 |OT|

What time is it?
I don't like Robinson and Herro on the floor together in this series. I get spacing is important but it seems like too much of a defensive liability. Heat in 7!

The only consolation I have left from this soul crushing series is that Laker nation needs this. They deserve a ring after losing Kobe.

Yes, the Lakers need, no, they deserve more success. *GAG*

It's over. But the Heat will be back. That Herro kid really impressed me for a rook. Dude is borderline cocky but I like it.

He's a perfect representation of the modern NBA -- he seems to take idiotic shots most of the time, but no one cares because they go in, sometimes.

His confidence is more impressive than his game (and certainly his ball IQ) at this point. Could possibly be very good in the future though. Never before has the league been so set up for a player like him to be a huge success.

I think I'd gain respect for him if it came out he cheated on his wife.
He probably has, everywhere they play there are gorgeous women and even porn stars just sitting at ring side or waiting by their hotel rooms to hook up. I think Lisa Ann said she had hooked up with most players, that sleeping with her was like a rite of passage in the league. If Lebron has never cheated on his wife then that man is a saint. I still wouldn't like him but he'd be a saint.

Bad take. Herro is a rookie and he already has a move that gets him past any defender, his drive and stop where he accelerates very quickly is borderline unguardable. He also comes out of the screen a bit like Klay Thompson where his shot in motion is very balanced. His game needs some refinement, but don't let the narrative get in the way of actual basketball assessment. Herro has plenty of game.

He shot 44% from the floor 2020 as a rook. That's damn good for a 19 year old.

He's shooting 37% in the finals. His confidence is his most accomplished and developed attribute, according to what I've seen of him. I like his first step and off-ball movement, and it's clear he's going to be a good scorer. We'll see where his FG% goes from here though, I'm not convinced.

I get that he's young. Just commenting on what I'm seeing. I have only watched him closely for 2 series now.

Assuming the series ends on Friday, when do you think next season starts? Silver said they were unlikely to come back before the end of the year. I’m thinking they come back in February or March and play a truncated season. And then try to start the 2021-2022 full season on Christmas Day and that’ll be the league calendar going forward.
Not really sure, but I bet the next season starts in March or April. I'm sure the schedule will return back to its original time where games begin late Oct or early Nov and end right before Summer again, but maybe it takes a few years? Depends entirely on how everyone handles Covid-19 so I think there’s still some uncertainty. But my guess is that it returns to how it’s been all these years eventually

Most NBA players take better shots these days. Only the boldest and most skilled of superstars have the luxury of shooting anywhere they feel, and they do it because they actually can hit from there with some level of accuracy and consistency. Kobe was the first I have ever seen to demand such attention from his defenders. Then Steph Curry actually MASTERED it, which shocked everyone. And now Damian Lillard has mastered it. Players are breaking barriers and changing the game. Harden and Durant have changed the game a lot for better or worse too in their own ways

I’ve been watching Herro closely the past two series as well, I think the Heat have nurtured a superstar to be in this kid. Give him 2-3 years he’ll probably be an All-Star, he’s already such a deadly threat now at age 20
I think I'd gain respect for him if it came out he cheated on his wife.
I doubt many NBA player are faithful for long. Many probably have wives but still go at it on the road for what it’s worth. Unless you’re D’Angelo Russell’s teammate that is...

Tell that to the 2015 Warriors. They enjoyed that win very much so.
True. Who gives a fuck if your opponent falls to you? Only the fans care. A win is a win in the NBA. You got injured? That’s tough. Everyone gets injured throughout the season. You get what you put in and only the toughest of the tough are going to come out flexing with the hardware in the end

That’s my view. Btw, not saying that to you solely, but you raised a good point so I thought I’d quote and share with everyone

I don’t think it’s all toughness. Kyrie fractured his kneecap and Love had a dislocated shoulder. Guys get hurt while playing, but some injuries you can’t play through. I guess it evened out because Durant and Klay got hurt last year and the Warriors lost.
But yeah, part of being good is being healthy. You can be extremely talented, but if you’re hurt all the time then you’re no good to anyone.

As much as I dislike that prick for being so cocky, I can’t disagree here.

100% agree. It's not only toughness

LeBron is the perfect example to use in this situation. If there's one thing nobody can really deny about LeBron's and his game, is that he's practically indestructible. He seldom takes enough damage to injure himself. And this has been the pattern throughout his entire career. I think he hurt his elbow once, sprained his elbow or damaged some soft tissue there before 2010 iirc, and he had last year's groin injury. Those are the only two major injuries I can recall. His desire to remain in condition to compete is second to none. Second to none. And he does this by taking care of his body and the main factor I would say is his supreme intelligence in the way he plays. I'll never be seen calling him the greatest unless he wins six rings, but I will say that the way he plays the game is supremely intelligent. He knows how to feel the game out, he knows where everyone is on the court at all times, his awareness is off the charts and most importantly of all is that he is able to pick his spots and play according to his abilities and limits. That's the only way he could have avoided serious injury all this time, so often. His dedication to health and his bball IQ

I think every player needs to take a page from LeBron James in that regard. Every player in the NBA has the resources to enter peak condition, stay at that level, and compete night in and night out all the way through if they have their mind set to it. With all those coaches, doctors, professionals surrounding them and made readily available to them at any time in their profession, they have zero excuses. If LeBron James can work his way to such dominance and be ready to play at the highest level then everyone else should be able to as well. Kobe Bryant was the same way, except he was far more injury laden than LeBron James. But Kobe still managed to play at every stage during his Finals appearances as LeBron has. Jordan the same, MJ was always prepared. All three would not be denied greatness, they set out for it

Freak accidents happen but a lot of injuries can be avoided if you live the right way and know how to play the game the right way. Look at Kevin Durant. Players who don't know their body, their ability, and their limits are bound to fail. I see it every single month when Anthony Davis plays. That guy is amazing, but he tries to do too much. Way too much. His game is not grounded like LeBron's as it needs to be, as every player's game needs to be. Anthony Davis gets caught in the moment and flies all over the place with reckless abandon. Hate to say it but he's going to continue to rack up injuries as he has been year round unless he modifies his tendencies and starts playing with a bit more control

It's a long conversation to have, but all in all, I think it's critical to stay injury-free and being injury-free or at least able to contend in the playoffs is largely dependent on lifestyle and effort put into winning the whole thing. And in my opinion, a leader will always do his best to pass on his knowledge and wisdom to his own. If the leader of a team is healthy, and he does his best to make sure his teammates are healthy and ready to take on anything any challenge then success will come

we can always go back in time and play what ifs.

in this series they both went out in game one(1Q).

As a fan, you just don’t want to see it. Puts a dark cloud on the series right off the back.

being entertained is the fun

Who is playing what if’s? The Warriors won the 2015 championship against an injury ravaged Cavs team. That’s definitive. It happened.

To me Lebron will never match Jordan because Jordan stuck with one team prior to his second retirement. Lebron got to hand pick his teams by joining teams with top tier talent he liked or having those teams use their assets to get the players he wanted. He colluded to create a super team in Miami and underachieved then jumped ship once it was clear that they were in decline. He tried to replicate something similar in Cleveland with Irving and trading for Love and left again when things started falling apart. He bought into the false narrative that he needed to have 6 or more rings to match or surpass Jordan and in doing so has diluted all the other accomplishments he has achieved over the course of his career.

At this point in Jordan's career he was an embarrassing has been on his second team. LeBron joined a third team, became the best PG in the NBA, and is about to get a third championship on a third team. Are Frank Vogel, Ty Lue, and Erik Spolestra as good as Phil Jackson?

Not only that, LeBron is far more durable than Jordan was, and played more basketball than Jordan did. Jordan never left the Bulls but he certainly fucking quit on them for baseball.

I totally respect your willful ignorance but the defense of Jordan only comes at doing your best not to acknowledge what LeBron has done and is still doing.

You're wrong and this is why you're wrong, LeBron is still playing, how many championships does he have left? And just how many rings does he need to win to change your opinion. With the way this current team is built, Jordan fans may be left to die on the hill that "WELL JORDAN NEVER LOST A FINALS" to which I would remind you Jordan never played a team in the Finals who had been champion before. Jordan beat bums, LeBron faced multiple dynasties.

The infinite tit for tat!

It's definitely an infinite debate because one camp can always point to something the other can't claim. The reason I bring it up is because to me it cheapens his career because Lebron chose his supporting cast which in turn helps boost his stats and potential.

Jordan's second team was a team with zero assets and he joined them right after they had the worst record in their franchise history. I don't think anyone can claim he was chasing anything or that he was joined a team that would in any way help pad his career stats or reputation. He just wanted to play again. If you want to argue that Lebron at 35 years old with the Lakers is better than the 38 year old cigar smoking gambling addict Jordan was who joined the Wizards than I don't think you'll find many people here or anywhere willing to defend that version of Jordan.

Lakers are technically Lebron's "third" team, but he rejoined a Cavaliers team that had 3 #1 overall draft picks while he was with the super team in Miami so it's a little different than comparing that to player going simply from Team A to Team B then Team C. The Lakers are the third time in his career he's had choice of any team he wanted to play on.

Jordan got lucky in terms of teammates. His teams were bonkers stacked. Pippen signed a horrific long term contract that allowed the Bulls to sign more talent, and the Will Perdue for Dennis Rodman trade was one of the most lopsided trades in NBA history.

LeBron didn't get so lucky. He had to create his own luck.

Is Bam the only big the Heat have? It's just too easy for AD against this lineup.

I love Butler's heart, but Spo needs to get him a rest. There was a six or seven minutes in the fourth were he was completely gassed. Not sure where he found that final push.

Since Lebron fans are so obsessed with MJ, let me come out and say it that Michael would have raped Frank Vogel on the spot if he had the nerve to call for a drive and kick to Danny Green. No fucking way, absolutely NO FUCKING WAY MJ would have let that happen. Danny Green is a good 3 and D player and he has done a lot, but that ball HAS TO go to Lebron or AD. He was wide open, but it's still a moronic shot. Put AD on the post, Lebron drive and draws the double and either fucking finish or dumps it to AD. There's no other play.

The Carushow would have hit that shot though.
