NBA (Sports) - GAF...Karl Malone or Robert Horry?

Would you also take pride in being looked back on as a career loser whose most memorable play is a turnover that directly leads to your second Finals loss in two years?

That has more to do with people's dumb perceptions. Malone was a fantastic player with nothing to be ashamed of. Horry was the 11th overall pick in a draft and averaged 7 ppg for his career. He probably underachieved for his career. Yet he's looked at as a winner. Oh well. Sports gonna sport.

Malone/Stockton/Sloan is the most overrated trio in all of sports.

Alleged top-5 at their positions, together throughout their entire primes and never won shit.

He's looked back on as a winner because he regularly stepped up in the most important moments more often than not. Karl missed free throws and turned the ball over when the game was on the line. Even a legend like Isiah Thomas (biased he may be :lol) shits on him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNRoAJ-LbwI

Malone won a lot of games, took his team to the finals twice. You can have an amazing career and not win a championship. Especially in an era where the greatest player of all time pretty much had the title on lock. I hate the "championship or you're a failure" mentality. Of course it's the goal of every player, but people act like unless you were Jordan or Olajuwon in 90's you were a complete failure.

That's because he'd sleepwalk through most of the regular season and the first 30 minutes of most playoff games. Karl Malone didn't have that luxury. Don't get me wrong, I will forever love Big Shot Bob for his Laker days, but It's sort of an absurd comparison. It's like comparing David Eckstein to Alex Rodriguez or something. Or saying Matt Viniatierri had a better football career than Peyton Manning.

Biased cuz isiah got up close and personal with those bows. He got a concussion and needed stitches. I doubt he got much sympathy being a Bad Boy and all, known for cheapshots

I'm shocked so many picked Horry instead the hall of famer Malone. The mailman was the guy(Stockton too) who got the Jazz to finals. Went toe to toe with the Bulls dynasty. Horry was kind of clutch hitting game winners but it was the big stars around him who got Robert into situations to hit the game winners.

Horry was a big man role player and the Mailman was one of the best to play his position.

The question is who would you rather be, right? What regrets could Horry possibly have for his career? "Wish I was better, I could have won 10."

So he missed free throws and turned the ball over in the biggest games of his life because he was tired? He shouldn't be ashamed for not winning a championship. He should be ashamed for the way he lost.

Where did I say that? I said Malone didn't have the luxury of just coming in as a sub, or taking half the season off, because he was expected (and able) to do much more than that. I'm not advocating for Malone to be considered GOAT, or top 5 or anything, I'm saying though that he was a fantastic basketball player and much, much, much (by a lot) better basketball player than Robert Horry. I get the Horry love, I just think people are getting carried away.

No brainer. Malone. It's not like Malone had no postseason success, he just couldn't get past MJ. No shame in that. Magic couldn't do it either.

Horry, meanwhile, was a role player who wandered around to various teams that coincidentally had dominant superstar big men.

Get the impression some of you guys would take Mark Madsen over Malone as well... Dude got a ring and never had to do shit!

I don't think anyone is saying Horry is the better basketball player, dude. This thread is about whose career you would rather have.

In that case I'd rather be Horry because I'm lazy lol. In all honesty I've always thought, with my personality, that if I were some big time athlete I'd probably end up being like Eddy Curry or Kwame Brown. Once you give me money I wouldn't give a shit.

Karl Malone was the better basketball player. Him and Stockton were the reason they made it to the Finals to try and win it all. Championships aren't easy and a part of winning it all is luck and the right timing.

Robert Horry hits clutch shots. There's no doubt about that but it was the Big Name players around him that gave him those opportunities. He was a big man role player that got to play with some of the biggest stars in basketball. Malone was an All Star, MVP, and a hall of famer who never won a championship. Shit happens.

No doubt I would be and pick Karl Malone in his prime than Big Shot Rob.

Are people seriously debating over who was a better player? Malone is top 20 all time. Horry was barely a starter at his best. He had the opportunity to hit big shots because he played with great players, and if Horry took their minutes he wouldn't be able to take those clutch shots because his teams wouldn't be in the playoffs.

I thought the question was whose career you would prefer to have. I've been a good player on underperforming teams and a mediocre one on successful teams. I'd rather win.

No one is debating over the better player.

Are you a disgruntled Jazz fan or something? Because honestly, I don't think many people remember the play on that end of the floor. Everyone remembers Jordan at the other end, and they remember Bryon Russell getting brushed off. Malone getting stripped? It's basketball, it happens, and it's not the defining play of his career.

You aren't, but some are.

"The Mailman doesn't deliver on a Sunday" #ether

I just don't like the dude and think he's overrated. His off the court life doesn't help his case either.
People have advocated taking Horry or Kerr over Malone and Barkley. As if that makes any sense at all.
Now that's crazy.

I rather be Horry than live as Malone knowing I couldnt win the big one cause the whole point was to reach the top as champion

Oh really you know him?

Why not just say what you really want and call him an "Uncle Tom"?

The fuck?

HE calls himself a redneck, dude. Because he's a fucking redneck. He collects 18-wheelers as a hobby or some shit. That doesn't make him a fucking Uncle Tom by any metric. If I'd said "He's turned his back on his community to curry favor with the white establishment," then yeah, maybe you'd have me on something. But I didn't say that, nor even remotely HINT that he's ever done that or even has it in him to do something along those lines.

But he HAS made it pretty clear over the course of his career and public life that he's a dipshit, too. Hence, I think he's a redneck dipshit. I would rather not be one of those, so in the case of this hypothetical, I would pick Robert Horry.
