ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Jesus christ.. just jesus... I have not bought a sports game in over 8 years!!! This is the first freakin sports game that I want. I dont even like basketball.. i dont know anything about it.. i dont like sports, but I am gonna buy this game!

WHY?

BECAUSE it has something to offer people who are not into these kinds of games. we can appreciate and laugh over the almost insane over the top cool looking stunts. Its like burnout... many burnout fans hates racing games and many burnout fans dont know a thing about cars, but they love burnout because the aspect of completely destroying, is something anyone can appreciate even racing haters.

WHY? Why cant you just let us have our unrealistic ball game, and go play NBA2K7 or nba live and all that useless generic crap? For once something comes out that actually looks cool... jesus...:(

you make me so sad:(

wow... :lol

Pretty shitty demo after all. I never liked arcade ballgames (last one I played was NBA Jam, yes on the SNES) and this demo didn't convince me either. The double dunks are stupid and cheap and fieldgoals hardly count in this game. Game is way too fast for me. As it has been said, I want basketball, not Space Jam.

I'd take any realistic ballgame over this crap any day of the week.

The scope of the demo is WAY too limited: all you get is a brief first-to-7 game that you can play over and over on one court.

I really like the presentation, full of film-reel motifs and other weird touches like having the "Press START" message take up the entire fuggin' screen.

I kept hitting triggers to see if I could pull off some dribbling manuevers, but nothing seemed to happen. Meanwhile the AI team is doing backflips and shit every time they have possession of the ball.

The double-dunks look awesome, but I get the feeling that watching that stuff will get old after an hour in the retail game.

Why do you hate fun?

But seriously, WTF @ the hate? It's a EA BIG game, and it's supposed to be very over the top and completly unrealistic!

People don't hate on SSX either for beeing completly unrealistic and that you can do 20 flipflops in the air or whatever ...

this game is not really my thing but man if EA can bring 60fps and that lighting and those graphics to LIVE with more varied camera angles, they may win back some fans later this generation.

Problem is....they cant.

I'll admit, after playing two losing games first to 7 (4-7, and then 7-9 -_-) I was therally dissapointed.

However, I decided that I would give it another chance and on my fourth game this game is getting way better than initially. The key is knowing when to do stuff, a very nice touch is having the button signal above your controlled players head to signal when to steal the ball or to make a person reach and miss and make a fool out of them. It also signals you for a chance to do other things.

The graphics are very niceley done, the menus are cool and the sound effects are great. The vintage look also fits the NBA Street Style nicely.

But once again, the key is knowing when to do certain button presses in the game. Shooting gets you no where most of the times because it mostly gets blocked, and if you hold the B button too long while you're dunking, you'll misss, you have to let it go at the right time to get the most points.

Gamebreakers are also cool. The tricks go from ****ing tight to Freaking amazingly crazy.

I'll give the demo an 8/10 for now, the retail I believe will be way better with online play, customizable ballers, all the teams, homecourt mode, and a shitton of more moves.

Um...you can have the game. I didn't say you couldn't. This is just my perspective.

In fact, I will go play NBA 2k7. That game is amazing.

I can see how this game appeals to a lot of people, especially not-so-hardcore ball fans, and I like some crazy stuff occasionally, but some things don't belong. Double-dunking is the stupidest addition ever. I think when I play with people I'm going to request to ban double dunking.

Are people gonna bitch about SSX too because it's too unrealistic?

:lol @ alot of people in this thread :lol
well for me, the problem isn't necessarily the realism, but that it's just too easy... which is why it's boring. i can score at will any numerous amounts of ways and at the same time stop the cpu most of the time.

ssx takes skill, even though it's unrealistic, it is still a big challenge.

this game is the equivalent of playing real basketball with a 1st grader.

p.s. nba jam on the snes is still the best out of all of these types of games. it was basically perfect.

The thing is though, to be a bit of an NBA Street apologist, I never thought playing Pros on Pros was any fun at all. The fun is in building your character up through career mode. This demo is basically just an example of what I like the least about NBA Street and features very little that I actually enjoy about the franchise.

I don't hate fun, but games like this have to control reasonably well (movement is too fast and stealing is a bit of a bitch) and the scoring is wayyy to biased to dunking. I know that's the entire appeal of the game and maybe even the sport, but I don't like it.

EverSoTrendy said:
yeah it's pretty dumb, they have a shot timer. But no back court violations\goaltending and no hitting fouls. :lol :lol

That isn't dumb. They want to encourage you to score quickly but don't want to shackle you with all the rules that you find in a real NBA game.

Bad point.

Do the trick points just contribute to your gamebreaker meter? I see players land like an 18,000 point score, but still get 1 point.

Yes that is what the trick points do.

Man I'm really surprised people are not liking this game more. I finally just dipped into the demo and played three games and I liked it. I'm kinda confused about having only 2 trick buttons though. And I kept trying to control the game like NBA2k7 :lol. Holding the triggers and moving the left analog all over the place and all.

Looks good to me.

For anyone that doesn't like this game because it's too unrealistic: I would recommend NBA 2k7. It has an excellent street mode that is more realistic and has great controls.

I know that a lot of people like games that are over the top like this, that's great and all, it's just not my cup of tea. I loved the first two NBA Streets, but this is too much, and the controls just feel awful to me after playing 2k7 religiously.

I'm right with you on this one. Unfortunately, nobody plays street mode online...

Maybe I am too used to 2k7 so this was an awkward transition for me. You know what would be awesome though? An NBA JAM unlockable...

Im a huge Street fan.. owned V1 and 2 and rented the third..

anyone care to tell me how to do Gamebreakers now? lol other than that its pretty good...

does the game have the create a player ala the original NBA streets?

I'll play street mode online 2k7.
But... The pit ate my headset.

LOL

Why are you getting mad because other people have an opinion?

I agree that I don't really care if it's over the top or fairly realistic, but this game really is depressingly boring and broken.

Well, I am sure this is not on the highest difficulty. I am sure this is on super duper easy level.

Okay. I played the demo some more, and now I agree with most of you guys. This game gets boring fast. I also don't know why EA can't make a game with smooth animations. Who cares if your games running at 60 frames if all the animations are choppy. And NBA2k6 and 2k7 and MLB2k7 have real simulated cloth physics, why can't EA accomplish this. If you look at the players jerseys and shorts move around it looks like a graphical glitch.

You have a nice point (somewhat), but don't bring in the retardedness that is MLB2k7's "physics."

I take it you don't have an HDTV?

What else did you want out of next-gen consoles? Did you expect them to suck your dick too?

to keep this on topic so a certain person doesn't get mad, I can't stand this game after playing NBA 2k7 so much. It just feels broken and awkward. Also, why the hell does every other dunk consist of jumping off the backboard doing 360's off of it and dunking twice? It's called NBA Street not Space Jam.

Naw, I have a very nice TV so my point still stands. Not a very good game graphically or gameplay wise. Atleast not judging by the demo. I'll give the full version a chance though. Oh and just so ya know, my PS3 gives good head.

Okay, I'm loving the demo, I just wish it was longer by now. =(

The shit is crazy, here's a tip I didn't know about.

I know people are sick of only X and Y doing repeated things and no combinations, they don't tell you this in the tutorial. . . but:

All you have to do is combine X or Y with LB or RB, or both, and you do different combos.

no shot clock = run the game clock strategy comes into play

to get more than 1 point, you need to either do an outside shot, or double dunk, or have your gamebreaker in use and do tricks to get your bar up while still in gamebreaker mode and score...

speaking of gamebreakers, anyone manage a 5 point triple dunk yet? so far i only managed to do a 4 pointer...

yesterday was my first time playing nba street and i couldnt put the demo down. so i guess if you are new to this and like acradey games, then its oke to buy.

the dunks are just so freakin amazing, my jaw dropped more than once :D

what i didnt really get is why the enemy can play so fast after i did a dunk. when i get one, i have to wait much longer to start playing again.

the gamebreaker is pretty cool to. am i right that you can get more points when in gamebreaker mode for a single dunk? like up to 5 points?

:lol damn....."the enemy"? you got the f*ckin eye of the tiger kid.

just joking. i thought that was kinda funny though.

Seriously why are people pissing about Street being too arcadey and unrealistic?

Go play the previous games and they're all in that same vein. I'm glad they took it up that extra notch to really make it stand out. The new animations are great and I like the little defensive touches they added for some moves. You'll see a button quickly flash over your head during a trick and you pass/fail depending on if you hit it right or the other guy got his in first. Double dunks look awesome but they seem broken. I have yet to been blocked on the second go round. It's good that you have a charge bar to get it done and will bail out if you mess up the timing but there has to be a way to stop the second points or else that is all human players are going to do.

why not they are very nice... in every other video but the one in boston the shirts weren't flying all around..

Yup I've played this demo a ton now and I like it. It's at the very least a rental that I'm looking forward to now.

I owe you an apology. After actually playing it(yeah I should do that before saying stuff..) I can see that it is not as fun as I thought it would be.

"stealing" and being defensive is way to poorly implanted... whats the point of over the top dunks, if you cant be violent in the defense either?

I thought it would be like deathrow. what a freakin dissapointment. way to go EA sports... jerks.

I don't think there is a game clock in this game...

He meant that if there was no shotclock, but a GAME clock existed in it's place, people would get the lead and then turn into Dean Smith of the 1970's running a 3 corner variant of his 4 corner offense. :)

Fortunately that is all moot since this game has always been about getting to a certain point total to win.

The longer you hold the B button the more points you get. If you hold it til 12k your player will perform a double dunk. If you hold it too long your player will fail.
