NC Officer Fired Over Controversial Facebook Post

I read this at first as applying to police officers, and it made a lot more sense than what people are saying it does apply to. I didn't think that cops accounted for 13% of the population, but other than that it is a pretty apt description of police.

I think Sheriff David Clarke gets a "hood pass" since he also black. But I don't believe this is from him as I can't find anything on google.

Nah breh. When you are a police officer, it doesn't matter what race you are. You are treated (from the "hood" as you say) the same.

That's why BLM activists and others protested the Charlotte shooting. The officer was black who allegedly shot the victim (People are saying it could have been an undercover cop who did it). Police brutality is on the hearts and minds of black people. Not what race is the officer.

A former colleague of mine went on to become a police officer in Connecticut and turned out he was a giant racist. And he and his bros posted racist garbage ALL the time. Basically all they thought about outside of sports.

Funny how this guy goes on and on about personal responsibility, but make every poor excuse in the book to NOT take responsibility for the FB post he made.

Why do people like this not understand the gross hypocrisy and double standards they are employing?

This also reveals the low IQ police officers may have. Why would he post on Facebook? Must have horrible lack of judgment, and that's a scary person to have behind a gun.

Well he seem to get away with posting some pretty bad stuff. Now if he also posted this thing in the OP it just be the latest.

That's what blows my mind. Like, okay, he's biased. Lots of people are.

What part of him was like, Nah, I shouldn't keep these thoughts private. This needs to be shared with the whole world!

What's messed up is his list is nearly directly applicable to the 1% but he felt it necessary to express this negative racist view only towards black people.

i love that cops can get fired for dumb racist social media posts but not for outright killing unarmed, non-threatening people. i guess this is progress?

Damn...

I said it before the Internet/social media is the greatest and worse invention in our lifetime.

Without the Internet/social media we may have never known how he really feels....unless it was caught on dash cam.

wtf is happening to this country? I used to be excited for the future for my kids. Now I fear what the future will be like for them.

I think a lot of you are misunderstanding this situation. He wasn't fired because of what he said. It's how he said it. The almost complete lack of punctuation is what's really offensive.

Its interesting that we have had two cops fired for posting on social media but none that I can recall for police brutality, police killings, or even recordings of trying to trump up a charge when they realize they are in the wrong.

I wish, with evey fiber of my being, that anyone who felt this way would just come out and say it. On every social media site available.

Overt, open racism can work for us positively in today's society I think.

Sounds like most Seahawks fans...

That's a dangerous clip.

Can easily see ignorant people take this completely the wrong way and validate thoughts similar to the OP's FB post.

I mean that clip is of a cop who planted a knife on a black guy after he shot him and got caught and that's his Villainous Breakdown

It's also not real

The fucking blaze? Keep fucking that chicken, USC-fan.
Also, you clearly don't know what the fuck a "hood" pass is.

what wrong with theblaze? It was the first link in google. I dont know what you call it. This sheriff said some very terrible thing in the past but still has a job. Now they saying he posted the OP.

You know that.

The clip (specifically that link) doesn't really provide context since it started 44 seconds in (at least for me).

And it not being real has no bearing on how it'll be perceived. Don't be daft, that's a horrible argument. It reflects reality.

Edit: It started at 37 second actually. Which sucks cause the very beginning provides the missing context I (and you) were talking about

So in other words, law enforcement should be considered a hate group.
I mean, who else is killing and disappearing black men at such a rate while getting away with it? Racists in the '60s wish they had it this good.

It really is wild a Facebook post can kill a career but actually killing unarmed people on video still results in jack shit.

Not really. One can be spun based on various factors (especially when the person viewing it carries a bias into its review).

Where as this post is basically, "Yep. I did it. And what?"
