NCAA Football demo coming soon....

Schools that give away football tickets for free simply can't sell them. At Auburn, our ~13,000 student tickets are easily sold out and even then there are a ton of freshman and sophomores that still can't get tickets. It's like that at any good college football school.

Wow, pretentious much?

Dammit, I've read some impressions from OS which say it's choppy during cut scenes but fine in gameplay. Most impressions are positive but some people are saying it's not leaps and bounds over Madden. Apparantly there are a few money plays people have already discovered.

Any clue if the demo is set on rookie mode or something?

Framerate is fine for me in-game, its when the camera starts panning around the 3D crowd that makes it get choppy.

DB AI is like 100x better than Madden 360, and this is only All-American.

Oddly the game intro is framey, but gameplay was smooth. No online. And each quarter is only one minute. So you need to be an advanced user who knows how to run a hurry up if you want to enjoy the demo. Why not just one four minute quarter?

Wow, my first impressions are... AWESOME! Definite improvement on all levels from Madden 06

:o :D @ the last 4 impressions

Damn having to wait till tomorrow to download it :(

Have not played it yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is set up like Madden. Meaning 4 one minute quarters and difficulty on rookie mode.

it says all-american, whatever that difficulty is.

After finishing one full game. Im Smiling :D This is a good sign

I was at 25% and then like a dummy tried to play a game while it d/l,so it cancelled and when I started it back up it was at 15% -_-

It's at 50% atm :|

It is 1 min qrts but it's on all-american. Here are impressions from OS

This game is fuggin' awful.

1) The option is executed terribly...too slow, odd pitches, ugh.

2) DBs/WRs all stick together and clump up during many routes, esp crossing patterns with PI constantly going on '05 style.

3) Every player on the field feels exactly the same. No weight to the DL or LBs, they pop up and run around all light just like a DB.

4) You get FOREVER to pass. Or you're instantly sacked.

5) Don't know if it's the textures, shadows or what, but the game is somewhat dark ala Madden. And I'm on a 50 inch HD, RP LCD.

6) Deep ball is easy, the DBs are fuggin SO dumb.

I can't go on...looks amazing, plays like crud. If you watch how the guys move on most plays it's really bad. Plenty of "poppy" type animations too.

Damn. Looks like Xbox or Deuce is my football home this fall.

DM or any others who know the abomination that was Madden please post some impressions when you have time.

I dunno what that fool is talking about. This is much better than the shit EA put out last year. Easily playable and suitable for a league

:lol

You have no idea what you are talking about. They don't "give tickets away" either. They include all of that in the activity fees and what not.

Duh, he's an Auburn fan.

Brodie was a good QB, with a poor OL and poor WR after Prothro :(

We can't have any brain deficient RB's on our teams, unlike Cadillac and Mr. Irons.

Well, correct the original poster. I assumed he knew what he was talking about. Many, many colleges give away football tickets just to try to get fans to go to the games.

The guy who posted these impressions is being overly harsh. However, he does have the current gen PS2 version of '07 which may be contributing to his negative point of view. It's not a bad game but corner routes are easy to complete.

Haven't played this yet, but sounds like a real NCAA/Madden game to me now. ;)

this game really needs some AA. It looks like shit. The crowd looks terrible, players look terrible mainly because there's a shit load of aliasing. Shadows suck.

The videos on IGN looked so good. What the **** happened?

And yes I'm playing on a nice HDTV set.

:lol If you really want to see how easy it is to pass use the Gators. Their spread offense has a lot of compression sets which really puts pressure on the DB's. Only problem I've had when I drop back to pass is getting sacked. FSU has the Impact DE's and they've been killing Leak. I fumbled twice in one game when being sacked, that kind of set off an alarm. Fumbling 2 times in 4 minutes isn't very enjoyable. Thankfully I didn't fumble in my other 6 games.

Edit: I agree the game could have used some more AA but it's not that bad. The grass blows ass and the lack of AF doesn't help either.

I wish EA would've hit the 60 FPS mark. '06 played much faster than this, but I'm still enjoying the demo.

game play is smoothe...studder only when pannng over stadium prior to game...why not 1 qtr at 4 mins in length instead of 4 1 minute qtrs? The grass looks nice. Player graphics are nice as well..playing at 1080i on 37 inch 1080p lcd. Its just not saying next gen to me yet...but cant really say why it isnt.

I'm really digging the UF playbook. You can actually run the spread.

Cloudy, you can turn on the cone by flicking the right stick when you drop back to pass.

wow, is it just me or do you fumble every other drive?

Just you at the moment. ;) I had 3 ints and a blocked fg in my first game.

I got one game in. You can tell the game is 30FPS, but the gameplay is SMOOTH. Used my SEXY REXYs to PWN FSU 14-0 in the first matchup, with most of the fireworks happening in the 4th quarter. First things first, damn FSU special teams blocked my FG in the 2nd quarter. AHOLES!

Like I mentioned before, gameplay (especially on defense) is much smoother now. I saw some interesting things happen in my first demo game. First thingt is that dbs actually react to the ball. I blitzed heavy to the left side with a linebackerand a safety, the qb threw it to the blitz side quickly and my db reacted and went in front of the receiver to pick off the ball. I then ran a couple plays and on 3rd and short called a PA pass which worked brilliantly. The blitzing rusher crushed my poor RB, but he took the bump for my QB as it gave him time on the PA to throw a deep pass one on one to the wr and connect for a TD. On the very next play I called a quarters zone defense, and the FSU QB tried to throw the ball into triple coverage. My linebacker picked it off and returned it 60 yards for a TD. And on the second to last play of the game, the CPU went for a deep pass again in double coverage where my safety intelligently broke back towards the ball and picked it off. So I haven't seen problems with the AI. Infact I'm impressed with it. Going to go play some more games and try to find problems.

I canceled the download and Frogger does not impress me... I would rather use MAME for this one...

I enjoy Robotron on X-Box 360, but this one seems too fuzzy... even on my Sony 27" HDTV

Im liking the demo. will definitely pick up the game when it comes out.

the crowd sound is just right. I hope they added more fight songs to teams like Texas A&M. the last time I played NCAA I think I only remember the band actually playing maybe two of their actual songs.

game should be fun but the button controls are gonna take some getting used to again. I wonder if you can turn off the "tool bars"?

goddamn that took long enough.

anyway, being someone that was coming from the PS2 football games, and never played Madden 360, the framerate was tough to get use to. Its not bad or jumpy in-game, so thats good. It just doesn't feel as smooth. The menus suck too. I know its college but do you have to make everything look like its written on a chalk board? Good god. ITs really hard to get a good feel for the game with just one minute quarters though. I'll have to put in some more games tonight.

so far im kinda iffy on it. It remains to be seen how the GAF leaguers react.

How's the momentum, every player was the same in Madden 360,it was awful.

Momentum was kinda wacky in my first game. I got down to the FSU 5 and missed a FG and FSU got a boost of momentum...fine..but 2 plays later, I picked off a pass and ran it back to the FSU 20 yard line and the momentum never changed.

i think hes talking about player weight kinda momentum. not game swing momentum.

I didnt feel much of a difference in any of the players I controlled. I think the last NCAA game I played felt that way.
