Need for Speed (2015, Full Reboot, PC/PS4/XB1, Ghost) Reveal Trailer

video game marketing is stupid but i am hypothetically into an underground 2-esque customization centric nfs with a nocturnal open world so i have my eye on this.

"Open world"? To the trash it goes

Good you're not going to be around then.

Aside from that, god damn am i hyped. Ghost did a great job with Rivals and all this customization and car selection only based on first teaser is amazing.

(Porsche 918, Nissan 2000 GTR, 240SX, Subaru BRZ..)

This needed an HD Remaster. Only $40.

Stop putting police in open world racing games. Nobody likes that nonsense.

Cops are great fun as long as they're not in Bugattis and Ferraris and treating you like a punching bag. I think all the cop cars in the teaser were Crown Vics, so that looks like a good sign. Crown Vics, Chargers and the occasional pit-maneuver would be just fine.

Why the hate for the open world?

Do you guys just not like seeing that open path?

I prefer to focus on the actual racing aspect, about keeping my eyes on what's directly ahead of me instead of "Oh shit, was I supposed to turn there?" nonsense... which is the crap that killed Burnout dead for me in Paradise.

I don't have time to "see the open path" when I'm traveling at 120+ miles per hour.

"Open world"? Into the trash it goes

Not into the trash, but definitely into the "NOT BUYING" pile. Others can have fun with it.

Real street racing is open world too, you know.

They want a racing game where you're limited to where you can go. What's the point in customizing your own car and then only being able to drive it on a specified road from point A to B? What the hell is wrong with people, best part of Underground 2 was the open world.

Is Burnout Paradise the only open world game you have played? All other open world racing games have the roads blocked when you enter a race so you don't get confused. What a stupid reason to hate on a game.

From the previous games (at least, those I played) the open world its not well integrated.

At least, that's what I think.

To be more clear:

It's not the open world itself. Its the way the tracks are made in an open world racing game.

Absolutely!

I know people are fucking insane.

I didn't play Rivals myself so I'm not sure. Honestly though I'm very wary of when games are described as "shit" or bad when it comes to GAF. I've found hyperbole is quite rampant on here and many of the games I've enjoyed have been shat on by many here lol. Everyone's free to their devices but it's hard for me to go by that sort of word of mouth.

FWIW I enjoyed Rivals a lot. I thought it was one of the best NFS in years.

There's the problem right there. Ever played Most Wanted? It did open world best, IMO. It improved on what Underground did, but didn't force you to drive around looking foe the races if yoy didn't want to.

If there are going to be cops, I reeeeally hope there's a mode that allows you to very carefully flee from cops like the opening scene in Drive. I was so disappointed that GTA5 didn't do anything like that in any scripted mission.

It does now that you mention it. Los Angeles in eternal night would be fantastic. Reminds me of:

Can't believe that I still haven't seen that movie. I'm pretty sure it's LA though, the cars have Californian license plates.

Speedhunters: The Game is basically the greatest thing I can possibly think of. That site is consistently the best thing that has to do with cars anywhere. Give me a game with licensed cars and licensed parts, let me do whatever I can think of to it, and cruise around and race. Perfect.

The people: fuck you EA! You ruined NFS! You took out customization, gave us exotic cars, and no story! Go back to your roots! Do another game like underground!

EA: we are going back to our roots and this game will be like underground!

The People: wtf EA! You guys fucking suck.

what's wrong with open world? you guys just want track selection screens? I don't understand.

hey, dont you know it?
street racing scene -the one almost everybody here craved for- does not operate in open roads! only in racing tracks and closed cirquits :D /s

seriously, there are a hundred reasons that a racing game might be stupid, might be bad or might be broken, and it being open world is not even in that list of reasons.

Seems a lot of people haven't played the Underground games. You're entitled to your opinion of course, but asking why its nocturnal is an indication you're unfamiliar with the series. It IS odd that EA's leaving "Underground" off the title, though.

I hope the graphics look ugly as shit so I can see a page full of downgrade threads that people on GAF want so bad :)
And...now we've jumped the shark.

Yeah, that's definitely a thing you have to wade through on this forums unfortunately.

The whole concept of "rebooting" a racing franchise is so absurd. It's a racing game. You drive cars. They're not all that different generally speaking.

It's just the negativity that surrounds most gamers. It's something that I've learned to deal with if I'm going to continue reading forums. It fucking sucks how most people start shitting on the graphics immediately as if they have a crystal ball predicting the future. I understand that they've been disappointed in the past with downgrades and such but accusing a game now of being downgraded in the future is just childish.

After all, I don't remember EA lying about graphics of any NFS game. I remember when Rivals was first revealed it looked amazing and it wasn't downgraded at all.

We have no reason to trust EA in the slightest. This is new tech that they're hyping up and we haven't seen it in action. Hell, the trailer might be possible on current consoles and I'd still assume it won't happen because that's how bad these trailers have been. I've been trained by two E3's in a row that whatever I'm shown is bullshit. The trailer has nothing of note aside from the graphics, so of course that's what EA's pushing.

And good for everyone calling it such. Maybe once developers start getting more familiar with the current consoles we might see less of the "we didn't know it couldn't handle these features!" that inevitably comes down the line.

I wonder if the people might not be a hivemind, but actually separate people who like different parts of the NFS series.

This teaser did nothing for me,
EA , you should make me excited , much more than that.

I hope the "reboot" doesn't include annoying monologues ( those were awefull in rivals ) or that they don't include story in NFS ( none of the NFS with story were any good )

But please tone down the flashes.. rivals was full of them and it's the reason i sold that game ... I hope that , with the game set at night they would have learned to not abuse this effect.

Hmm, kind of disappointed to see that police will be in it. Although the problem there is that my taste for them in nfs was soured by the player controlled ones in rivals, hated them so much.

Shh... It's a "reboot".

Did they have a story/world to reboot? It's a puzzling term for them to use... unless they mean they went back to the storyboard and are taking a new direction (gameplay) with NFS from now on?

This place suffers from collective bipolar and multiple personality disorder.

Same people bitching about "LOL CORRIDOR RACER" are bitching about "ANOTHER DAMB OPEN WORLD RACER".

I'm getting tired of how trendy the bitching has become.

Man, I remember when Underground came out all people did was bitch that they got rid of exotic cars and cop chases for riced out Hondas. As for open world, they'll probably have some sort of fast travel .. So what's the big deal?

I just hope they have drift events as well as drag races (with manual shifting, no less), those were my favorite!

Open world is a plus.

Nightime alone gives me pause, but including dusk should at least provides some variety to the overall visuals.

Haven't seen enough of how this game works to really say much at this point.

This place isn't a single mind and diagnosing it as such is idiotic. There's several hundred posters in this thread alone. That would be a "multiple personality" situation.

We're on a forum. Literally the whole point is to bitch.

I don't think it's the same people... that would be really strange. I think a lot of people have very polar views on this and if you judge the entire thread as one person, it comes across as bipolar.
