Need for Speed (2015, Full Reboot, PC/PS4/XB1, Ghost) Reveal Trailer

Excited for the game but...

and Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft.

The PR statements god

Sounds good to me. As long as a host migration doesn't wipe out my session progress like it would in NFS: Rivals.

or the ai go zombie mode, or the framerate crumbles with the fastest cars, etc etc
a hundred things might ruin a racing game, but open world (and no day time) are not that list

:D

lets see your game, ghosts

I was hyped but somehow I got get down by the reveal.

It doesn't give me that 'Underground' vibe, looks dark and dull. Also f*ck cops.

Hopefully it's better.

We know we've got a lot to prove, see you at E3 :)

Thank you Ghost Games for listening!

Finally, after all these years, finally, we have exactly what I was wanting and hoping for.

Night..check
Customization...check
Story..check
Variety of cars..check
Car culture..check

I am fucking pumped, can't wait for E3!!!!!

Thank you for remaining positive. I am absolutely disgusted at some of the ways my fellow posters quoted you with utter disrespect. Now I'm no fan of Rivals but I believe in genuine second chances as Rivals was your firms first attempt at an NFS project.

I hope to purchase this game over the holiday or early next year when I have time. Hopefully you lot have a great E3 and can't wait to see how you surprise us. Just like Ubisoft Quebec, I hope you guys really pull through this year.

Best wishes.

I prefer to focus on the actual racing aspect, about keeping my eyes on what's directly ahead of me instead of "Oh shit, was I supposed to turn there?" nonsense... which is the crap that killed Burnout dead for me in Paradise.

I don't have time to "see the open path" when I'm traveling at 120+ miles per hour.

Not into the trash, but definitely into the "NOT BUYING" pile. Others can have fun with it.

"was I supposed to turn there" Do you honestly think that one of the paths will cause you to fail the race or lead you to get lost?

Underground 2 was open world, but kept barriers during the career races, and during random races with no barriers it was just a game of how far you can leave the other driver. I can't see how an open world racer can fuck up.

Personally, I'm very excited it's open world. Project Cars just came out, Dirt Rally and Gran Turismo are on their way, plus the existing racing games of different styles. I don't see an overabundance of either type.

Just let me escape cops like in Drive!!!

Damn can you tell the difference between people who actual played the game and have not.

You sir have played it though like i mentioned before i didn't like the big ass arrow barrier races it was annoying to me any was.

not a fan of the fast and furious car culture. not a fan of past NFS titles. not a (big) fan of arcade racers. but if it looks like that, i'm interested. will wait to see gameplay before i get at all worked up though.

Yeah..i hope everything will be awesome waited for a long time to play NFS like this. Since Underground 2 and Most Wanted 2005 to be exact.

Just don't OP the cops and I'll be fine.

Indeed that was no fun in Rivals either or Most Wanted 2012.

That what made Underground 2 so good. I could just drive around everywhere and have fun.

Weird approach but hey there's a first for everyone. Also the underground car culture has been around for decades long before Fast of the Furious made it popular...

So, it seems you've never played a NFS Underground game. Please observe:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1tsseNPALQ

You're judging one game based on your opinion of what clearly must be other game's mechanics and design. That's not even judging a book by its cover, that's judging a library by a paragraph of some book you found in a bookstore.

I'm a bit grossed out by that line at the end. Representative of all platforms? Realistically, they'll do as they've done for other Frostbite games like Battlefield and Inquisition, where it will be scaled appropriately to each system's power, but the statement just plain implies that all of them will be set to lowest common denominator Xbox One.

whats weird about it? this looks fantastic and i'm keeping an open mind. i'm also aware this type of car culture didnt stat with F&F. it was just a way of describing it and wasn't supposed to be a knock against it, even if i'm not a fan.

Exactly. If Driveclub is real, I believe this is real.

That said...

the screenshots they released are so obviously supersampled. So don't expect that IQ on consoles...

Driveclub is an exclusive. The developers spent all their tuning, optimization and refinement time on a single platform. This game won't receive that level of TLC.

Whilst I like to see some great graphics, I'm not really that bothered by the details.
As long as the gameplay, customization and SOUNDS..lol, are top notch, i'm more than happy!

Ghost Ben, you aren't going to let me down with regards to sounds right?

Yeah, I think he misunderstood what you were saying.

Sound is important for the cars anyway but the soundtrack is a must have. That's what sold me on Underground 2 in the first place.

You can tell the difference from the people who actual played the game and have not.

It wasn't immersive. The problem that a lot of people seem to be forgetting with Underground 1 was how repetitive the game became due to repeated tracks. Or how the floaty controls and rubber banding made it impossible to catch up in races if you made one mistake. NFS really drags when it punishes you for small mistakes. It's not fun to constantly restart races, (ie Rivals).

The beauty of Underground 1's track based game design was the unpredictable nature of some of the tracks but that goes away once you realize you're playing yet another variation of Chinatown or Market District.

Underground 2 fixed many of the inherent problems of its predecessor but driving to races instead of just being able to select them from a menu 10 hours in becomes a chore. Same goes for driving to shops. They fixed this problem in Most Wanted 2005. That being said its possible for them to make a modernized version of Underground still.

A lot of people in here are wearing nostalgia glasses. I played Underground 1 on my laptop just now and it isn't the best thing since sliced bread anymore. There are several ways to improve on it and modernize it while keeping the same feel.

Best wishes.

All footage captured in-game :O

Hey guys, I think the game will totally look like that when it launches.

All footage captured in game

Lindsay-Lohan-Spits-Out-Drink.gif

sure.

Somehow I doubt that the final game will actually look that good.

I trust this trailer completely.

Ah, just lie to me. I'm used to it.

Fuck this industry.

-in game footage

Yeah I'll believe that when I actually see it.

At least last-gen consoles aren't holding it back.

Still, that was some bullshit CG and I'll eat crow if it wasn't haha.

The was an in game cinematic , not gameplay, no way

How many times have you seen that before though and seen it differ when the game comes out :P

"Game Engine footage representative of all platforms"

Not downgrade, just optimization. Gamers love that good ol optimization.

I see now that companies are straight out lying to us.

that in game footage line is straight up ducktales .

But they do have my curiosity.

Meh, same old "ingame" bullshit that is working so well for EA. Not surprised.

Do you smell shit?
I smell shiiiiiiit.

Wow, they really just went all in on this bullshit tagline. E3 is gonna be fantastic.

"Game engine footage representative of all platforms."

oh fuck off.

Looking good! That in-game footage must be legit but no way the game will look like that on the final product. Sorry.

No way it looks like that in-game. Not sure why they had to lie. I'm extremely excited but I'm not falling for this. I'll believe it when we see a demo.

"Representative" is the key word. I bet they're using it liberally and loosely too.

in game huh, fire up a "downgrade" thread now or later? :p

As if it's going to look like that in-game. The reality will come soon enough.

In-game footage of prerendered movies using the in-game engine.

The only piece of music I actually like or even listened to in Underground was Lil Jon's Get Low.
That shit was so perfect for the game.
Other than that though, I don't really listen to any music in racing games. I'm more about the auditory experience that a straight through big bore exhaust or tuned engine delivers..

Yes, yes, and more yes. Makes it better when it's blasting through home theater

Open world is absolutely fine...if it's simply used as a hub to get from race to race to tuner shop to garage, etc.etc.

Like Underground 2, Most Wanted (2005), and Carbon

If it's actually racing in the open world, like (new) Most Wanted and Rivals...no thanks.

Our audio team are brilliant :)

Rivals had amazing engine sound, so did Most Wanted 2012. Just please don't lock the game to 30fps on PC this time.

I wish you and your team the best, good luck to everyone on this project and thank you for making my dreams come true.

Well I am excited for this. I put a decent amount of time into Rivals but was dissapointed in the way it looked and felt. Lets see how this reboot fares.
