Need for Speed (2015, Full Reboot, PC/PS4/XB1, Ghost) Reveal Trailer

Fuck yes. This is amazing. I was afraid it'd be Underworld 3. Best NFS is Most Wanted 1. Give me awesome cop chases, and bring back Razor! HNNNNG! Goddamn, I hope this'll be up there with MW and Midnight Club LA, in awesome racing game heaven.

Meh. Despite the bull video, I'm excited. I hope for more highway stuff, though, maybe in the vein of Shutokou Battle/Tokyo Extreme Racer. NFSU2 had some aspects, but the highways sucked.
If they ever bring that series back, I will buy whatever console I need to play it.

I have to say... I really appreciate the development team interacting with us here on this forum. It feels like someone is actually listening to us. And I have generally loved most NFS games I've played.

But I'm still fully expecting a massive downgrade. No offense. :D

I will hope this is great, but fuck storylines in racing games

C'mon man

Razor Callahan for prez.

I personally don't mind them, i liked them in underground and underground 2 in all their corny glory.

Hopefully ghost games is staying away from 'realistic and gritty, visceral' narrative. In Rivals it was to a degree more cringe i couldn't handle. In Underground 1/2 and even Most Wanted it was okish since it didn't hinder my progression mostly and it was more to fill the void but it does need to be cheesy as a B Movie for sure.

TBH it's kinda weird thinking about it now. NFS: Underground didn't have Cops in it. You would think with the title "UNDERGROUND" which usually means "illegal" cops would play a big role.

Guess they're fixing that lol.

I really don't think that the gameplay will look like what we just saw. They will have my full attention on June 15th.
I can see cinematics look like that, but I am not buying it just yet.

Is the consensus that this is largely a reboot based on Underground? Just with Most Wanted elements?

I want that tacky Fast and Furious underbody lighting stuff back.

Open world? No thanks. That's exactly what has ruined so many racing franchises. Is it too much to ask to keep it simple like NFS Underground, Burnout (before Paradise,) and Split/Second?

Not feeling it so far. Big fan of Most Wanted and Hot Pursuit, but if you give me 60/120fps on PC without any hackery, I'll look out for reviews. Oh, and a motion blur toggle. Hell, I'd probably give Driveclub yet another chance if I could turn it off.

I just can't with racing games in 30fps.

Bye then

You can play project cars or drive club to get you're linear fix.

I really hope they don't do the ridiculous 30 fps lock on PC again. If that's really in game, it looks way too good to be 60 fps on console.

Why are people still doubting car game graphics? we have driveclub, the forza series, project cars...etc usually these games are pretty darn good looking. An yeah what we saw in the teaser should be more then possible. This is not 2005 or 2009 anymore.

This is an open world multiplatform game with a trailer that was near-CGI quality and claims to represent all platforms.

It doesn't have to be open world. They could easily make set tracks with more diverse routes.

If they keep it open world with multiplayer lobbies and non of this driving around nonsense in a persistent online world is the main thing. If they are going open world and with a similar multiplayer to the last Need for Speed then I'm out.

Same reason I stopped playing Forza Horizon 2, I don't want to drive around with a bunch of people online I just want to hop into a race, beat them (rarely happens but have to hope for the best) and move on!

I don't get it what is with peoples opposition to having to drive around in a driving game....seems backwards.

They said something about Alldrive but it will be tweaked and change for the game, whatever that means never played NFS Rivals.

In fact, it looks soooo good....
That it doesn't even have a single second of clear footage that shows of graphics quality.

Might as well be a PS3 game.

(sorry ghost games, it'll probably look great. The teaser just doesn't show anything at all.)

The only times I've enjoyed cop chases in Need for Speed were NFS 2 on the Playstation and Rivals where you actually had "weapons" to help you get away. In Most Wanted and Carbon I have rage-filled memories of spending 15-20 minutes in chases because as soon as I got away it would just spawn another police car right in front of me that I couldn't avoid. and the whole thing would start over again.

I do not know why they insist on calling this a "reboot?"

I mean the other NFS games didn't share stories really.

Also they insist on a strong narrative, did they learn NOTHING from the The Run?

People do not play "racing" games for stories and all the time spent on that (models, animating, voice work, etc) could be used toward something most people actually care about.

How about they actually have a decent physics model and destruction?

Since EA took over the Burnout devs and then shoe-horned them into NFS why not finally let them use their burnout tech to make cars behave realistically when they hit something?

Most racing games ignore that when its an aspect most people actually enjoy.

Word 👊👊👊

WORD.

JEEEEZUS, cant believe people here complaining its open world, OMG, am I the only one that plays games like Horizon, GTA, Underground 2 etc just cruising around?

I dont know about you guys, but im a car nut and one of the things I enjoy the most is just driving around without any purpose. just search on youtube for all the "cruising" videos.

Cops? well that kind of sucks, hopefully there's an easy setting or something to make them not so annoying. Recently played rivals and DOD GAMN, are those guys annoying.

You just made me sick in my mouth!

Fair enough, everyone can have their opinion - and that's cool. Look forward to you seeing more of the game in the coming weeks and months ahead, and hopefully changing that mind of yours :)

PS3 game? *shakes head* :P

Yep, just mindlessly driving around is fun in and of itself. It's my favorite part of Burnout Paradise and the GTA games.

A PS3 game? First thing I thought when I watched the trailer was "yeah, it's not going to look like that". I still don't think it will. Not with that image quality on my PS4.

I don't know what "authentic urban car culture" is, but I don't want an open world NFS. I just don't.

Honestly, though, the only game in the franchise I give a shit about is 2010's Hot Pursuit (I never played one prior to that) so I'm certainly not the target market.
