Need for Speed (2015, Full Reboot, PC/PS4/XB1, Ghost) Reveal Trailer

You just made me sick in my mouth!

Fair enough, everyone can have their opinion - and that's cool. Look forward to you seeing more of the game in the coming weeks and months ahead, and hopefully changing that mind of yours :)

PS3 game? *shakes head* :P

Please ignore the negativity and trolls. Just think that those complaining are in the minority. Teaser looked amazing and I cannot wait for the game.

:)

he has a point though, hasn't he? cinematography aside (which I guess is what is making everybody doubt for cgi), its a bit everything_was_blurry.jpg trailer.

hopefully we get to see some ..clear footage soon? and something like closer to hmm... hood view? cockpit view? (edit: btw, do you get to customize the interior too? like steering wheel, gauges etc? not very important, but always extra fun when you are having fun customizing your virtual car)

Well look, what i kinda wanted to avoid happened.
I'm not saying the game is PS3 quality.
I'm saying that, with the amount of blur and camera shaking left and right you wouldn't see the difference at all.

I'm sorry if i made you feel bad, i'm not trying to discount your (teams) hard work.

That's the point of the teaser trailer, not to show much and to get people hyped for the true reveal.

Nah, no worries at all :)

It is just a short teaser, best stuff is yet to come - starting at E3 :)

Really looking forward to it, love me some need for speed. I really liked hot pursuit and especially most wanted. Rivals was also nice. Didn't play the "originals" of those games though.

Also good that they drop last Gen. I think this will only benefit the game.

Still waiting for them to reboot this one.

Come on bish, get on that. You worked on the PS1 port, didn't you?
Oh man that brings back memories...testing at 3 AM in the old EAC building.

Don't worry, most of us will wait to see the game in action at E3 before we truly start shitting all over it.

I'm just teasing, looking forward to it.

agreed. thats why I asked for next trailer.
I also never said 'cgi/potential downgrade' myself,
I just noted that I like the setting and the assets I saw.

I dont like too many post-pro filters though, and that includes both graphics effects (hello chromatic/blur/ultrashake) and sound (hello super-reverb, super-flange and go-pro like recording).
I see some games are going for mobile phone/instagram filters look, and problem for me is they started doing that way after the fad became more than boring.
so basically I hope this racing game is "clear" on post-pro, both in audio and visual.

All this need is.

Night races only (Already confirmed)
1v1 Drag races
1v1 Drift challenges
Circuit racing
Last man standing races
NFS: Underground 2 level nitro upgrades and customization.
Fast travel to races
Custom soundtrack
Neon light/LED and body kits everywhere
A cheesy campaign story, (some of these games take themselves way too seriously).

And I'm all set.

LOL, I turned up the video volume right before the :18-:19 second mark. That ummmmm comment at that point in the video blasted in my office.

I don't think anyone noticed.

Looks great.

Definitely agree, hate the post process effects but as a PC player I'm hoping there will be a way to turn most of them off. Still for the other guy to even mention the PS3 when there are already pictures of the game where you can clearly see the level of detail is a bit non sense.

sounds good to me personally but then again the only nfs game I've ever owned is Underground 2 (aside from that Most Wanted reboot on PS+) and it reminds me a lot of that.
And I guess I'm in the minority here that sort of wants it to be open world, especially in a game like this? Like Underground 2 it seems well suited.

Thanks for all feedback tonight folks, a lot of really positive stuff and myself and the rest of the team are pretty damn happy that you're excited about the game. It's always a bit of a potential brown trouser moment when you announce a game but your response has been super (for the most part).

Please do keep that feedback coming, good or bad :)

I never played a lot of Need for Speed so maybe this is a dumb question. Is there a cohesive story that needs a "reboot"? Why not just make a new game called Need for Speed. Is there retcons they need to do or large plot points that need to be revisited for a modern time?

Who the fuck keeps wanting an open world racing game? They need to stop with that shit.

Also doesn't a reboot usually imply that the series is going back to their core roots? Wouldn't that mean traditional race courses, exotic cars, and daytime tracks? This is clearly a new installment in the Underground/Most Wanted series. I feel like the change of title and hailing it as a reboot came at the last minute just like they did with that last SSX game.

Should have been Underground. I don't really see why a racing series needs a reboot either since I'd imagine they'll eventually get around to the subtitled games and do them over too. That said, there isn't much to go on here and though I've only liked a handful of NFS games, I'll wait to see more of this before I fully judge. I just wish EA cared about Burnout as much as they do this.

This is a full reboot of the franchise and not a sequel. We've been listening to what people are wanting so you can expect deep customisation, a nocturnal open world and a narrative experience.

Guess I am just getting old, but when I grew up NFS was all about racing, no open world, no annoying cringe worthy narrative experience. Driveclub totally filled my itch for a pure racing game (something that barely exists today) and this sadly sounds like any other boring entry of the last decade, lots of promises before release and then just another let down.

Will wait for some actual gameplay and neogaf reviews but interest/excitement is like 0 at the moment, sorry.

Can't wait to see the actual gameplay on PS4/Xbox One! NFS:Rivals clearly felt like a cross gen game with car models looking good and overall textures looking kind of flat along with the not too hot looking lighting for new gen game standards. With this being a new gen only focused game, NFS has the potential to feel like a brand new looking game!

So here we were just the other day complaining about the witchers downgrade from trailers to gameplay, then here comes ea specifically stating that all footage was captured in-game...and we're still pissed?

By all means don't pre-order the game. I certainly won't, but they're explicitly stating it is in game footage and there was nothing in that trailer that I don't think is possible current gen.

You apparently don't want one that's for sure.

No problem..just saying out loud you have a lot to show because a lot of love for favorites with Underground 1/2 and Most Wanted 2005. You have some big shoes to fill. But i have waited nearly 11 years for this!

This place suffers from collective bipolar and multiple personality disorder.

Same people bitching about "LOL CORRIDOR RACER" are bitching about "ANOTHER DAMB OPEN WORLD RACER".

I'm getting tired of how trendy the bitching has become.

People gave driveclub shit for not being open world like forza. Didn't gamespot write an article about not being excited about forza 6 cause it wasn't open world?

This place isn't a single mind and diagnosing it as such is idiotic. There's several hundred posters in this thread alone. That would be a "multiple personality" situation.

We're on a forum. Literally the whole point is to bitch.

no the point is to give your opinion and comment without sounding like a spoiled 6 year old. People on here saying the game is trash cause its open world? what kind of shit is that? Most wanted and UG2 were great cause they were open world. The game would flop if it was like the first underground. This is why you got developers like naughty dog who say "don't listen to gaf" some of you don't know what the hell your talking about

It must be heart breaking for developers to finally give us something that we've been asking for 11 years and have people shit on it now because it's open world. I wish devs would never come here sometimes.

Is every reveal trailer going to be met with the same chorus of "won't look like that" bullshit as page 1 of this thread now?

Who the fuck keeps wanting an open world racing game? They need to stop with that shit.

I keep wanting that shit.

Having all this customization and keeping me locked in a box? No thanks, sounds so unappealing.

I want to drive around with my customized car. It makes no sense for a game like this taking place in an urban street setting to be closed circuit, zero sense. If it was some other type of game, I might agree with you but not for this.

Everyone? I don't understand this sudden fascination of track based racers lately. Driveclub is good but its clear as day what people have been wanting from NFS since its fall from grace. I hope they reboot Burnout like Paradise as well.

Best wishes.

Exactly why the hell would someone want a non open world game , with this type of NFS installment with it's heavy focus on the underground culture of racing. Its ass backwards otherwise, so Ghost games keep pushing forward with it.

I loved the old underground games even most wanted. Wouldn't mind seeing Underground meets a fast and furious story.
