Need for Speed (2015, Full Reboot, PC/PS4/XB1, Ghost) Reveal Trailer

There seem to be a split between open world and circuit racing fans which is understandable. What I hate about some open world racing games is the open world-ness of it feels like padding/fillers, you spend more time trying to get to races instead of actually racing.

But one the other side the problem with only circuit racing is you're usually repeating the same tracks over and over and it gets boring.

You can't please everybody, which kinda sucks but the Devs already have their plans and they should stick with it.

Emergent trends?

Does that mean I'm gonna be stuck racing a bunch of stanced(ruined) cars?

The point of customizing is to make the car how you like it. If someone else wants to ruin the cars with shitty stance nation bullshit then so be it, you'll have the option to improve it. If you don't like customization good thing there are a shit ton of other games you can buy, don't worry.

Exactly why the hell would someone want a non open world game , with this type of NFS installment with it's heavy focus on the underground culture of racing. Its ass backwards otherwise, so Ghost games keep pushing forward with it.

But is it UG2 open world or Burnout Paradise open world? It would be better as an UG2 like open world, lets people drive around with their cars but doesn't have the crappy point A to Point B crappy open world racing.

A lot of people? All I want is for these two to have a baby and I'll be in heaven:

Would be perfection and i hope that's what they are going for.

I don't know what "authentic urban car culture" is, but I don't want an open world NFS. I just don't.

Honestly, though, the only game in the franchise I give a shit about is 2010's Hot Pursuit (I never played one prior to that) so I'm certainly not the target market.

#STANCENATION

They tried, but it was ruined by input lag and weird settings for many cars. Apparently it's only really playable on PC after a lot of mods.

I never said that it was an ideal setup, but they definitely went towards a more sim-oriented control style in those two games.

Heh, boat sim. :P

It makes no sense whatsoever, and if they did do it, it would most likely flop. People are complaining just to complain. Hell just make some closed circuits and closed drag races for those people, not just make the whole game like that.

I still have an email from someone from the art department of this game from about a year and a half ago, saying they needed reference photos of Virginia...Although they kept mentioning "Winter, snow..." So idk....Would it be a bad idea to post the email here? with identities scratched out? Because I'm certain the open world is Virginia. Guess we'll find out soon enough!

Would be weird because the license plates on the cars are Californian.

That is a replay scene, with lots of effects that we don't see ingame.

Interested if it's like the old NFS games. Not interested at all if it's NFS: Burnout again

Please be good. I need a good arcade racer on console to play with friends. No sim handling or persistent online either. NFS: Rivals leaned too hard on cops vs. racers and online. I just want some good old back to basics high speed racing.

Right you still can have closed circuits and drag races in a open world. Why people think otherwise i have no idea.

Whatever happened to Criterion? They got handed the entire franchise after hot Pursuit blew up then they got chopped to bits a few years later. I don't even think their sales went down either.

So what happened behind the scenes?

EA formed Ghost and sent people from Criterion over there (or did some choose to go?) and now they're working on a new I.P. that was teased last E3. I love Criterion's racers and again wish EA cared as much for them (and, again, Burnout) as they do NFS.

Oh I know that Ghost is a good chunk old Criterion....but something must've happened for them to chop down Criterion at the top of their game like that.

Just wondered if the real story ever came out.

Relax, it's a very easy to make jab at a very divisive trend in car culture.

I'm not seeing the need for hostility.

You know... yeah, I'm curious about that too. Honestly didn't think about it and just assumed it was because Criterion didn't want to become a NFS machine. I'd also like to know about this.

I just want Need for speed togo back to NFS3 to NFS5 style.

Nice exotic cars, good looking fantasy tracks with lots of variety, and good music.

Can't wait for the final game to look exactly like that on all platforms. Actually I am more inticipating the 100 page long thread comparing this trailer to the final game.

If it actually looks like that then count me in but I won't hold my breath EVEN IF THEY SHOW SOMEONE ON STAGE PLAYING IT AT E3...

Yep. Can't believe people have forgotten these two games are the peak of NFS games.

I DEMAND slow mo dodge for police barricade evasion, and cool factor...

You just made me sick in my mouth!

Fair enough, everyone can have their opinion - and that's cool. Look forward to you seeing more of the game in the coming weeks and months ahead, and hopefully changing that mind of yours :)

PS3 game? *shakes head* :P

Gotta love good ol' Neogaf hyperbole.

All footage captured in-game

I'll believe it when I see it.

And everyone should do the same considered how many times people have been burned in the last couple of years.

Also I would want to see non-shaky cam video, without the artifacts to simulate a digital camera.

Agreed. Sick of the lying. gaming sites should make a list of all the lies these companies have told.
