Need for Speed (2015, Full Reboot, PC/PS4/XB1, Ghost) Reveal Trailer

PC getting the short end of the stick again, ugh

I understand yours and his opinion, I am PC only gamer right now. But say... If the gameplay looks as good as this trailer... Does it matter that much? The parity? Because, I mean... That looks stunning. That looks cutting edge. Does it matter that much when it's this good looking? You're getting the 'best of the best'. There's nothing above this.

Honest question. If the game looks this good at release, I would honestly not care about parity with consoles.

But as I said, I still completely understand both of you.

Underground 1 and 2 had something that I really want to come back and that's the fact that in non campaign mode, simple quick race, you could modify all the cars for free once you unlocked the specific modes in the campaign. I wish that would still be the case in the new one.

If EA doesn't EA it up, I'm game. It just bugs me that "going back to its roots." when this game is just what the last 2 games did.

Just don't disappoint me.

Thanks for all feedback tonight folks, a lot of really positive stuff and myself and the rest of the team are pretty damn happy that you're excited about the game. It's always a bit of a potential brown trouser moment when you announce a game but your response has been super (for the most part).

Please do keep that feedback coming, good or bad :)

Props for the game! you guys are doing the job almost nobody (only the guys at playground) is doing, real street car culture!

P L E A S E, im begging for you guys to consider some sort of no cops roam mode, one thing most of car lovers/gamers like is just to cruise and speed a little in the street without any worries, because well you sure must know that in real life thats a no no LOL

Im confident about your car sounds tho, one of the best car sounds i've heard are the ones from underground 2, where car sound changed realistically even when tuning. Race camshafts? lopey idle. Intake? deeper suction sound. Race headers? waaay raspier sound, and thats something worth giving lots of credits for!

Also, MANUAL TRANSMISSION PLEASE PLEASE.

Sorry if im asking too much, but im waaaay over excited for this game as it seems to have everything I reaaly want from a car game.

Keep up the good work, the 2 year cycle seems to have paid off :D

Agreed. Sick of the lying. gaming sites should make a list of all the lies these companies have told.

Ghost games never lied about their visuals. This is NFS Rivals, a CROSS GEN open world racer so you can bet your ass the proper next gen Need for Speed will look better.

Game looks even better in motion.

And people are saying that it work look that good lol

Have to say, I'm a little surprised EA didn't choose to name it Underground 3. That's a hefty seal of quality right there. It surely prints money?

Yes for the love of god, a cockpit view and manual transmission!

Hmm after watching the trailer this is probably too USDM and not JDM enough for me. Not in terms of the car list, I like seeing plenty of variety and if the Speedhunters guys are helping out I know that the car list will be good. I just don't like all the outlaw run from the cops bullshit. Let me cruise in peace.

If the game races like NFS 1, 3, High Stakes, Underground 2 and Most Wanted then awesome.

If the game plays like: Shift, Shift 2, Pro Street, Undercover, Carbon - and the revamped Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted - then the series has gone nowhere and the reboot is pointless.

Ehh, I could do without cops. Lets hope they're not as relentlessly irritating as they usually are, or even better, let us turn them off in free roam.

Even if they did title it Underground, it wouldn't be 3. They would just stick with the current trend of naming a reboot or continuation of a series with its original title and it would just be NFS: Underground. Much like Battlefront isn't titled Battlefront III as so on. I don't think they realize how big of a deal an Underground 3 would be.

Agreed on cops. Almost ruined rivals for me. Way too persistant, way too aggressive and way too hard to lose.

Rivals needed the "lose cops, break line of sight, then turn engine off to speed up escape" mechanic real bad.

As a racing fan that basically only plays racers with cops...Come on guys. You got dozens of other games to play. NFS is basically the only franchise with cop chases now. It's been in most games in the series.

We need cops in NFS. It's sacred. You get basically every other racing games out there, while people like me get one franchise only. Don't strip the one thing that separates NFS from the rest.

You had me at deep customisation and nocturnal open world although I would prefer day night cycle. I would also prefer no cops, but as long as they are not stupidly relentless they wouldn't change it much for me. Please don't make this too little on disk content with tons of dlc and pre-order bs, I will welcome some dlc assuming you do a nice job of providing content on the disk.

Edit: I am sorry EA, but I don't buy that is in game unless you mean a cutscene of course I hope you make me eat crow on this.

"cops"

god dammit, wbt NFS where you just race other people not having to deal with ramming, spikes, emp and other shit -.-
agreed.

I LOVED underground 2, that was one of my favorite games as a kid, and the lack of police was fucking great. I didn't get to watch the teaser yet but based on posts like this, I'm guessing cops will be incorporated?

There were no emp's or stuff like that in the teaser, just a few cops chasing street racers. Let's wait until they give us details about how the game will work before judging it.

As far as cars go all I need to be happy is a Nissan S15 spec R, VW GTI, Honda s2k, and Toyota Supra. Is that too much to ask for Ben? :P

I was a bit excited about this until I read it was going to be open world. Why the hell does everything have to be open world now?!?!? As if making me drive to specific locations just to start a damn race is fun? Come on. Please stop shoving open world into everything as if it magically improves things. Some genres are fine without it dammit.

As I've said before, I don't mind open world racers so long as they're good, and there are options to not have to fuck around driving between races.

Re: graphics...I"m with SliChillax. I don't think they'll be *as* good on the consoles as that teaser, but pretty close to it. Rivals is still a looker.

What I'm really surprised about is that everyone is still arguing about overpromising on the graphics and it hasn't moved on to 30 or 60? (P.S. - 30 on consoles).

Still damn excited for this whatever. It'll look great, and so long as they don't fuck the cops bit like Rivals I'm in Day 1.

Open world? Ehhhh not really keen on that. I was hoping when I saw the thread title it would be a reboot back to the origins of the series with exotic cars in exotic locales with closed tracks. Ah well. Hopefully the Criterion blood in Ghost will flow through and lead to a great game... will wait and see how it turns out.

A lot of people? All I want is for these two to have a baby and I'll be in heaven:

Most Wanted is already the offspring of Underground 2 and Hot Pursuit, so this is pretty incestuous. Maybe bring in the Criterion cousins to help offset the inbreeding.

Whatever mate, set yourself up for disappointment. See if I care.

Let's see if they can finally bring back underground 2 customization options.
Im not setting myself up for anything, I'll judge it when it properly comes out instead of a 20 second teaser. And feel free to open your eyes to the pics of Rivals above, maybe you would realise how negative everyone is being for nothing just for the sake of bitching.
Edit: maybe because I game on a high end PC and I'm sure it won't dissapont but I wouldn't be surprised if they shit the console version (not to sound like a fanboy)

NFS Underground 2 and the original Most Wanted are the two best games in the entire franchise.

Make it an updated more modern version of those titles and you have my money EA

Don't confuse bitching with being realist mate. You should be aware with this gens latest trend of overpromising and underdelivering especially in the graphics area.

If that trailer was in game graphics from the pc version then yup,it's going to look just like in the trailer on pc .

But PS4 and xbox one? Haha no.

Okay okay okay, I've been looking into Speedhunters since the reveal, and in the analysis video above the narrator notes that the cars in the trailer are based off of cars featured on Speedhunters, using the same body kits and spoilers, which is very cool, but then I found this. And I had to post it.

Speedhunters is one of those sites that I've stopped visiting because there's just too much awesome stuff to see and I end up spending my day looking at cars. It actually affected my grades for a while. That said, love the Trans Am and there better be classic muscle cars.

Yeah you're right about consoles. Just get it on PC :p Rivals is eyecandy at 4k

Games like this need more Pontiacs in general. Just give me one Sunfire or Firebird. All I ask for.

Oh God yes.

Why would anyone want a nfs game like this without the open world? If they give you enough to do, open world is always better in arcade racers.

dropping by to say that Need For Speed Hot Pursuit from Criterion is the best NFS

bought rivals earlier this year, I wish I could pause. Lol

will watch this title

hope that Criterion's Beyond Cars will be shown in full form at E3!

This thread is a mess, so all I'm going to say is I'm looking forward to the full reveal in a few weeks.

I'm basically sold already.

Incorrect.

Open world racers track design is not nearly as good as linear track designs. Linear tracks force players to learn and adapt to the track as opposed to open world design where the design is much more forgiving and allows you to screw up more often. There is very little luck in racing and linear track designs demand more skill. Thus making it much more rewarding and intense when you race people of a similar skill level as you.

I'll be keeping an eye on this. Hopefully it's like Underground + Hot Pursuit.

EDIT; Oh, it's already confirmed to be open world...fuck this.

NFS Rivals was decent... considering there were no other next-gen racers on the market outside of Forza 5 and its much-mocked crowds.
It's EA though... so I'm expecting a metric ton of bullshit to be paraded out and I will reserve judgment until it's released and I can see some gamer impressions and reviews.
Pre-order at your own risk. Especially if you want to support the practice of deceitful marketing.

I miss Criterion. I miss Burnout.

Rivals wasn't good or bad, it was okay. Played it thanks to EA Access and it didn't impress me, the gritty atmosphere was annoying after a while and the handling was a bit too floaty, the speedlist crap was kinda annoying too.
