Need for Speed Most Wanted gameplay series - Multiplayer

It's really bummed out that we're not getting a demo prior to release, because I'm very tempted to get the 360 version, but some of the hands on reports said the 360 had some framerate issues.

Since it isn't 60FPS anymore and due to the advent of MLAA/FXAA, it surely can't be any jaggier than Paradise (and that game wasn't very jaggy at all).
it was kinda jaggy but okay at the time.

Video's thus far (from NFS: MW) seemed a bit jaggy to me..... But i guess it will be fine. No, i hope it will be fine.

It WILL be fun though.

For someone who has played both the PS3 and 360 version, what version would you suggest?

I'm fine with getting it on either platform, and I really don't have a preference.

PC =)

As for the consoles, both versions are almost identical, I played the PS3 one from start to finish and it was great, played the 360 version at friends house and couldn't tell the difference.

EDIT - we are talking about Hot Pursuit here right?

I own both versions of Hot Pursuit for the 360 and PS3 and they look exactly the same.
Maybe the 360 appears to have more contrast. Anyway I expect Criterion to perform
The same magic with Most Wanted, both should be equally good.
I wonder if DICE is helping out like they did for HP? Some of the environments in most
Wanted feel have their style.

AFAIK DICE was only really involved in the Autolog side of Hot Pursuit, and it appears that Critereon has assumed full control this time round.

So is this basically Burnout Paradise 2? Open world, billboards to find and smash, crazy challenges, races all over, etc.?

Paradise with licensed cars?

Sorry my friend read this article below. DICE helped out with art direction and the game world because it was so massive. The lighting in Most Wanted reminds me of Battlefield right down to the specks on the screen. I know its not using Frostbite 2 its Criterion's own engine.

I believe DICE helped with the procedural landscape generation or something, Autolog is 100% Criterion and was "leased" to Shift and The Run.

EDIT: what helvetica bold said.

I think you're overestimating Dice's involvement a bit, in suggesting that the lighting was influenced by them.

From what I gathered, Dice was involved in creating art and assets for the world. That involves creating textures and modeling mountains, buildings, etc.

The lighting would suggest they worked on the game engine.

Im not saying DICE worked on the game engine. Im saying that it looks like there is some influence in Art Direction. The lighting looks similar to Battlefield right down to the light shafts, and lens flares, and camera lens particles...
Anyway its looking like one of the most beautiful racing games this gen.

check out this amazing PC footage!

country side roads seem so restricted and remind me a lot of NFS HP, which im pretty tired of. the city seems open but the map looks to me to makes it hard to know what's open and what closed.

getting tired of these games with super fast cars where you just ride the guard rail around turns. i hope this isnt the case. if the reviews are good i'd probably have to get for xbox, where the friends are, and pc, where the fps's are. just pr ordered horizon this weekend cause of demo.

Which makes it all the more annoying you can't just use a headset.

I assume that this isn't available on other platforms either, which is ridiculous. the voice stuff could easily be done on anything else, which makes me wonder if Microsoft pays devs off to make voice controls a 360 exclusive. or maybe the kinect SDK just makes it really easy to implement?

I think it's an SDK thing. The voice recognition is built right in, so it's probably very easy. On PS3 they'd have to create all that. Quite honestly, watching that video I don't see the voice stuff being all that helpful.

EA is fighting like hell to sell me this game.

It's working. Looks GREAT. But the world needs a new BURNOUT with full Crash Events to go with it.

At this point i just wanna know about the community support from us on GAF. I'm done with buying mp focused games that -1 month later loses it's fans and the ones that are still there just abuses the games glitches and bugs.

I'll publish the OT tomorrow, and it'll include forms to register Gamertags and PSN IDs for those interested. Do you people think a Community thread would be necessary to coordinate? What about PC?

About the OT, it'll be mostly text as I suck with graphics, and I was considering the following simple title: "Need for Speed Most Wanted |OT| Return to Paradise". What do you think?

How is the handling more like Hot pursuit or Run?

Would love it to be more like HP, because that game felt to me alot like OutRun.

This is going to be amazing. My only complaint is that although graphically it's incredible, I wish Criterion would try some new things with environments. They seem to be stuck on a pretty standard look.
