Basically yes. A perfume or 'eau de perfume' is basically the most concentrated form of the scent that you can buy. This is what makes it so potent. It's also what makes it unsuitable for everyday use as it can be very overpowering and the scent lasts forever.

From what I could find online:

- Perfume / Extract of perfume -> 20-40% fragrance oil
- Eau de perfume -> 10-20% fragrance oil
- Eau de toilette -> 5-15% fragrance oil
- Eau de cologne -> 3-8% fragrance oil

With higher concentrations you magnify the scent, and sometimes it actually is too overpowering to smell good so you should always test them out beforehand and see which one you prefer. Perfume also comes at a premium over a EDT or EDC.

You're pretty much right, though the percentage are not a guide lines but purely indicatives..
Plus consider that the pure perfume is not mandatorily a 1:1 for quality.. Some specific substance smell nice in VERY little amount, and beyond a certain treshold they're too overpowering as a smell..
As a result while using the perfume etiquette or the eau de perfume, they might be WELL below those percentages..

I bring my ipad pretty much everywhere (save dinner@restaurant)..
I bring documents, wallet and a pen as well..
So i can safely say i can use a messenger allright..
Now if you don't like that sure, but going for the fragile masculinity line seems to be overstepping it..

Most people would call them messenger bags, satchels, briefcases, even man purses (murses). But handbag? While technically not incorrect, it's just not widely used.

Anyway, I'd appreciate input because I want to come to a decision as soon as possible.

So they call them messenger bags because they're afraid that people would be ashamed of buying something called a handbag? But a handbag is a handbag is a handbag. And the rest of the world can see that that's a handbag. Why would you be ashamed of buying something which the shop calls a handbag, when you're not actually ashamed of walking around with an actual handbag? Is the power of self-delusion really that strong.

Eh, I don't think so. They're all from small artisanal companies that make products with a charm that I can best describe as organic. It's not like I'm going for luxury a la Dunhill or Swaine Adeney.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I really like the rugged and warm character of leather so I'm sticking with my shortlist. Regular messengers just feel too strictly utilitarian. Not that it's a bad thing, but just not for me.

^ Yes:

- White Buffalo Republic is based in Guatemala so the leather is locally-sourced but the hardware is from the US.
- Bleu de Chauffe has everything produced in France.
- Everything from Bags by Rubbertree is sourced in the Philippines; made in the Philippines.
- Not sure about Scaramanga but the company is based in the UK.
- The rest are American-sourced, American-made.

Yes, of course. They're not made in a sweatshop in China, if that's what you mean. White Buffalo Republic, for instance, was created to support the local Guatemalan community, and quick research and reaching out to their manager Jim makes that very transparent. Similarly, Scaramanga has a very clear ethical policy explained.

As I am a Filipino, I've had the pleasure of going to the local artisanal fairs here and I've met with the lovely couple who run Bags by Rubbertree. And boy, there's a great help to this small but thriving and ever-growing crafts community in the country (or at least, Metro Manila).

These are small-scale businesses dedicated not only to making lovely products that can be passed down to generations, but also creating social enterprises that feed back into local communities.
