kof update downloading, gonna test it out and report back
Give me some good news. I'm crossing my fingers
kof update downloading, gonna test it out and report back
quick pic i took with my phone, no filter mode is the best, now the pixels really pop out of the screen!
Now that these are finally patched, I may jump in!
I asked this earlier in the thread though: how worthwhile are these games if you will never play them with another person?
I asked this earlier in the thread, and somebody recommended Waku Waku and Shock Troopers, but there was no explanation as to why.
Are the campaigns still satisfying to play alone? Is there even a campaign in Waku Waku? Any replayability? How about length?
Convince me to buy the best single-player experience from this NeoGeo selection!
Shock Troopers is like any other arcade shooter in that, while it's obviously better with coop, the actual campaign is still a blast to play through on your own. A playthrough is also technically shorter than, say, Metal Slug 3, there's a ton of replay value due to the branching paths and different characters actually having different abilities. Now that these are finally patched, I may jump in!

How playable are these games (especially the fighters) without a dpad?

Not gonna storm EVO with a joy con or anything, but I wouldn't consider it a dire input method.
I should add that I have been playing stuff like Shovel Knight using the d-pad and making small adjustments with how I shift my thumb meat compared to a standard d-pad. The lack of a "center" part to the d-pad does feel odd at first, but I've adjusted to it painlessly. No idea if these have stacked up in any meaningful way for fighting games over the past week and a half, but I didn't jump in cold I guess.
Also, I did all my testing using Hanzou in World Heroes Perfect since he is basically Ryu.

Metal Slug 3 or Shock Troopers??
Has Metal Slug 1 come out on Switch? That's easily the best.

Why do you people buy stuff that has significant flaws? I mean incorrect colors and no use of two player joy cons? Don't buy inferior software.
It's about sending a message.....

Off-topic, but they've already said that Blaster Master will be updated soon with Pro support.joycons are no bueno for this, hell, I don't even like the joycons, I am glad the pro controller is supported here and not like Blaster Master Zero which does not even let the console to sync my pro controller when that game is active

Yeah. Colors look A LOT better.yup colors are now corrected! don't know what else was fixed tho
Alright guys KoF or WakuWaku7? I have one KoF on the Wii VC, whichever one was released first on the system... 97 maybe? I didn't have a lot of fun with it, but I love the KoF series overall.
Two player joycons has been fixed too, you have to pair them sideways at the start menu. But the colors have now been fixed? So what are the significant flaws?

If you've already tried KoF and bounced off, Waku Waku 7 has more... personality? Maybe start there and see if it gels with you more.
Testing MS3, it seems to me like the sound is fine in handheld mode but has some delay when docked. Anyone else experiencing this?
Graphics look great now.
I got Metal Slug 3.
What display settings are best to use???
I am playing it portably.
A few thoughts on the joycon d-pad and fighters after messing a good bit with the fundamentals.
Using the grip or hooked on to the system is required, imo. Playing free hand is great for a lot of Switch games but when you need to execute fighting game motions it just doesn't work. You need that stability and leverage.
My fireball execution is basically 100% and no real effort or adjustment was required.
Double fireball is closer to 80-90%. With a bit of practice I am sure I can get that up to basically 100%.
Dragon punch is more around 50%. I can hit it about half the time but I do have to focus. Improving execution there probably wouldn't take a ton of practice. No idea what the practical ceiling is, this is just fuzzy data based on my farting around.

Actually, I just looked. The one I bought on my Wii was KoF 94. YEESH. Not wonder it felt rough. I'm sure 99 has a lot of improvements over it. Maybe I'll pick up both?If you've already tried KoF and bounced off, Waku Waku 7 has more... personality? Maybe start there and see if it gels with you more.

Yeah, got it, thanks. Each time I check I wonder if I am going crazy. Then I compare to MAME (not authorial I realize but best I have handy) and side by side it is immediately obvious.
I do wonder if the attack on the gun sound in Metal Slug comes across a bit weak and contributes. Will do side by side testing with good headphones tomorrow.
I use:
Display Settings >
Size of display > Size: 150
Screen filter: off
Think that is all I changed. Messed around a lot. Will probably toy with scanlines some but those are the most straight forward 'clean' settings.
