Hype! Hype! Hype!

My lovely girlfriend decided to wrap the packages of candy going to J.M. Romero. I'm super excited to get them out in the mail tomorrow.

Edit: The only thing I wanted to grab that I couldn't find was Coconut M&Ms. I looked at like three stores and I could find them nowhere. Have they stopped producing those beauties?

Jeez. What could that long ass package be?

oo this sounds like fun, I'm signing up for the next one. Anyone wanna brave some Iraqi/middle eastern snacks? The local haji shops have tons of the stuff :D

Almost have everything I need to send. Managed to get a bit of French candy as well as a shitload of British one.
Last trip candy shopping over lunch and I'll be set! Teasing pic to come...

Just sent my package off to my swap partner. Shipping cost just over double what I expected :lol

Oh well. Just under 2kg of lolly goodness heading your way in a week or two!

Excitement! I've bought some of the candy, but waiting for the husband to go grab some from the company store too, to give that a special NintendoGal touch. ;)

4kg of Germany's finest candy/sweets/chocolate sent on their way to United States of America. Evenly distributed into two "M"-sized "Päckchen"

Celebrating the German-American Friendship by using one special edition packset "Udo Lindenberg" (above) and one "Tupperware" (below).

Why the hell does the German post have a Tupperware special edition of their packaging?

4 days since I heard from my swap partner, but I have faith that it's all cool. My request is pretty weird and it will probably be harder to find what I'm looking for than regular candy.

If not - I am keen to hook up with someone outside Australia. I have a proven record doing this and I'm asking to get some sugar free/low carb candy or snacks. Hell, I'll even do a 2nd swap if need be. There's a huge candy outlet right near my house.

I'll vouch for Pubba, as I swapped with him in one of the previous swaps. Great partner.

And yeah don't give up hope yet. Some people don't read GAF or check PMs ever day, or have been away. I worried my partner by not responding to a PM for a couple days - I've been on vacation and what time I had in the hotels I was working other swapping issues - and I've seen someone else go from worry to relief as their partner was just out for a few days. And on one of the past swaps, my partner took over a week to get his address to me. Give it a week, and if you still haven't heard back, we'll figure out a course of action. If it's past the shipping deadline and you haven't heard back, we'll find some alternate partners, ping the mods, etc.

Haven't heard from my partner, but that's okay really.
He did ask for someone not in Ireland (that'sracist.gif), it was an edit, so did you miss that Ghal?

Yup, I'd missed the edit. I had compiled the list of participants and copied their posts (with special instructions) into my matching file past that point before the edit, which looks to have come the following day. I hadn't gone back over them to check for edits; didn't even occur to me, actually. :(

So sorry.

Should I be getting the medium or large flat rate box from the post office?

I fit about 12.75 pounds (lbs) in the USPS Large Flat Rate box. (Look at the image Falt posted earlier in the thread.)

Should give you an indication.

Thanks for the idea. Yeah, it looks like it's gonna be around the same for me then.

Hah mate, how much did shipping cost you? I used the auspost calculator and it can't cost that much, can it? :lol

I don't mind at all, he might. *shrugs*
That, and you're doing your best.

I know I'm probably making it harder than it should be, but seriously fuck this customs form. Easily the most stressful part of this thing for me. The description area is too small so I had to group items together. Hopefully they are descriptive enough and it wont get hassled in customs.

I'm going to try and ship out the package today but I may have to wait until tomorrow.

I just kept the content descriptions vague, I really don't think they expect us to put crap like, " Everlasting Gobstoppers (1 pack) 4 oz." Basically I put, "assorted candy" and "assorted gum" and a guesstimate of the total dollar value. The teller didn't make it seem like a huge deal.

Yeah I put five things on the list and when they asked me how much they weighed I just told them to split the weight evenly. :lol

I just bought so much candy.

I'll see how much fits in the box tomorrow (and how much it weighs), then top it off with another round.

Just over $50 :\

I thought it'd cost $25 tops. I should've kept track of the weight better.

Holy... whoa...

I think mine will just come under $30 if I can manage it (shipping only).

Insanity.

Box weighed in at 8 lbs 7 oz (3.8 kg), shipped off to Zinga this morning. $50 in candy... $80 in shipping. What the heck is wrong with this picture?

(Zinga - I forgot to put a note in the box, so I wanted to mention a bonus: my son just got back from Peru with a box of Peruvian chocolate bars (Canonazo) - so I tossed two into your package. They're not from the US - but they ARE from the other side of the world. :D )

This is seriously the most exciting thread I have seen on the internet.

I will soooo partaking next month - or when ever the next one is.

So jealous of all your foreign sweet action.

I will be on the look out for an american to send me all the choc pretzel flipz they can get their hands on. Good god i love them and I can not find them anywhere in Australia.

Missed it :(
There might still be hope for you!

I have run into a lot of problems with school stuff, illnesses and such so pretty much everything is rather unclear for me right now, from money to place to live. So I probably have to bail out from this swap (crap, and I really looked forward to it too...) and am discussing with my swap partner now. If it comes to that, would you be interested in swapping with me? He's in the US, by the way. And according to your tag you're in Denmark?

Quick question for any UK-gaf, what company are you using to ship your delicious candy goodness?

Royal Mail? DHL? UPS? Something else?

HOLY SHIT that's a lot of candy

It's Romeo! Romero is the filmmaker, I'm just trying to become one

Ok, I just got your stuff. I'll take a couple of spoilery pics and then walk down the post office.
No coconut M&Ms? Damn. Those could have been quite the sensation over here, but it's ok, looks like I'm getting a truckful of candy.

Yaaaaay <3

I sent mine by Royal Mail Airmail. They have a 2kg limit though. I looked into DHL and other couriers for heavier packages but it gets expensive.

Yeah, well mine is twice that so I think I'll just go with Royal Mail Standard packet thingy.

Wow thanks mate!! very exciting :) your package weighs over 4kg, so I am glad we were able to match package sizes pretty closely!

I've read that the registration dates have passed, but what would I need to do to secure one or two bags of Fox Glacier Mints from one of our friends in the UK? I've been wanting these again for MONTHS.

bought all my candy and its all sitting in a drawer at work. Will find time tomorrow to send it off.

^ I sought out australian candies for my swap partner and avoided all (international candies - like oreos/snickers/mars.. etc). But damn, if that don't look good

also, ate a whole bag of "stuff" because I had it lying around in the house. Not good. :D
