NeoGAF Candy Swap - July '09

Not open for further replies.
I'm in. San Jose, California. I'll ship worldwide; most likely you will get something from Schurra's, which is a famous local boutique. (Don't bother with schurras.com, they don't maintain that site.)

I like milk chocolate, but if your region specializes in something in particular then by all means send it my way. I will eat anything.

Anyone that gets paired with GhaleonEB is in for a treat! Seriously.. this guy went way above and beyond what was expected. Many thanks! :D

If anyone would like some Taiwanese candy, I would love to join in again.

Location: Taiwan
Preferred Candy: Novelties, unusual or weird candy. Failing that: anything except licorice :D
Preferred Country: No real preference, but would rather not be paired with a newbie. I can't afford to get burned.. sorry
Previous swap: GhaleonEB (U.S.A)

I will spend approximately $25-$30 USD on candy.

All candy received will be shared with my elementary students, so expect a thank you letter after your candy arrives.

I'm going home to Australia for the first two weeks of August, so will send the package to my swap partner before I leave. Shipping is very fast from here and only takes a week or so to reach the USA.

I'll join in on the festivities

I have lurked through all the other swap threads, I can finally be a part of this

Location: NYC (Queens)
Preferred Candy: Almost anything, no licorice please =/
Preferred Country:Would love to do something with-in the USA, due to it being my first time and all. (will try for international, next time, baby steps, sorry)
Willing to spend around $25-$30 on candy

Edit: If the OP can add this into the first post, I think it can be helpful + beneficial to all shippers:

For all you GAFfers, if you are using USPS there is a new flate rate option

I have used this for my company shipping needs, and it's fuck awesome, good price

Here are the links, you can even ask for a free kit which is a cool deal:

Fuuuuuuuuck it! I'm in.

Location: Wyncote, PA (Philadelphia basically)
Preferred Candy: Whatever...bring it. I'd prefer a wide range of stuff, the weirder the better.
Preferred Country: Don't care really, but somewhere overseas if you put a gun to my head.

Haven't done this before, but everytime I walk by the candy aisle wherever I am I think of this thread.

Soooo ready for this.

Thanks for the information! I'll add it right away!

Also, you mentioned that you wanted to ship within the US. This could potentially be a problem, because most people who sign up that live in the US want foreign candy. Which may not leave you with anyone to swap with. There is also a bigger risk of receiving candy that you could buy locally. However, if you really want to swap within the US, I will glady do my best to match you up.

So, would anyone from the US like to swap with another user from the US?

I'm in!!! (first time)

Location: Victoria,Texas :lol (small town)
Preferred candy: I'm up for anything usual/weird candy, besides licorice.
Preferred Country: US for the first candy swap

I'm in. (Thanks again tmaynard for the heads up).

Location: US.

Prefrence: Creamy, carmel, chocolate, fruity, gummy, milky, preferably soft. The girlfriend is really picky and only likes 99% dark chocolate and strange/odd stuff. So a few of those if you can, but only a few. She's not real big on sweets/junk food.

I would like to try something from any European country.

Location: Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Preference: I really love orange-flavoured things. Mint-flavoured things are nice too. I like chocolate, but prefer other styles of candy (hard, gum, chews, etc.) over chocolate.

Prefer to do a swap with someone outside of NA since Canada and the USA have pretty similar candy.

I'd love to take part this time around. I've lurked a couple of the previous threads, bout time I joined in :)

Location: Liverpool, UK
Preferred Candy: Anything! Just hoping for some sweets that aint available over here
Preferred Country: Anywhere outside Europe

I would be interested in this but I live in Guatemala and all the candy we have here is pretty much an import from the US (maybe some exceptions apply).

If you'd like, I can just label you as a USA region swapper. However, If I were you, I'd do my best to include some region specific candies even if there are only a few.

Let me know if you'd like to do this and if you do, please post your info.

If it comes up again, I don't mind. I'm almost more interested in what kinds of things other people pick versus the kinds of things I would pick. Plus, there's always local or regional stuff!

1. Atlanta, Georgia, USA
2. chocolate, gummy, sour stuff. I like unique local candy I can't get here, basically, even if it's "weird".

I would prefer to have an international partner if possible

Thanks a lot! I've added you to the list.

Location- New Hampshire, United States
Preferences- Anything sour, nothing crazy though.. :P

Note- First timer, I'm sorry but I won't be able to ship internationally... Next time!

Man, all you USA->USA guys are missing out on half the fun!

Mind you, I do understand - I spend 2-3 times on airmail than I spent on postage last time!

Man, browsing the old threads makes my mouth water. So much good stuff...an avalanche of goodness. And yes, I go overboard on what I buy and ship. Hauling two little kids along to pick out the candy will do that. :D

Can't wait. Love these swaps; my two girls have come to look forward to them as well. It's like Christmas in July for them.

Consider me in!

Location: Leeds, England

I have a nut allergy which sucks and i'm not a fan of liquorice or anacide. but other than that, bring it on! some USA sweets would be great!

First time swapping for me. :D

Count me in! First timer n all that.

Location - South Wales, UK
Preference - Anything really, stranger the better. Oh and if there are sweets that are gaming related, then that would be cool!
Shipping - Anywhere

Don't get me wrong--I'd love an international partner, too! I'm just really not picky.

(not that you were necessarily talking to me)

What's the cost when shipping overseas?

I just might change my status.

Last time I shipped around 9 pounds of candy for 45 dollars, I believe. So, I spent around 25$ on candy and then 45$ on shipping.

At first that may seem a little steep, but when you receive a package from a far away land and get the excitement of opening it up find all these strange, unfamiliar snacks it's well worth it! All my friends usually get together and have a little party with it. So it's great to enjoy something like that with the company of friends and family.

OK I'd like in on this please, new member but I've known about this thread for a long time and have been convinced by a fellow swapper (gav) that it's a good idea. I'm a sucker for American candy.

Location: Harrogate, UK
Preferences: US candy please, anything sour, peanut butter m&ms, hot tamales, candy corn. Oh and 'Now and Later', love em'. Anything along those lines.

I've been lurking these threads and I've now decided to be a part of it!

Location: Stockholm, Sweden
What I like: Everything I guess, but I DO like chocolate things. I've never tried Peanut Butter M&M's so that would be nice. I love coconut candy as well.

I'll ship anywhere. Someone out of Europe would be most interesting to swap with.

Hahaha, finally! I´m so in on this. Great initiative OP.

Location: Stockholm, Sweden

Will ship to: anywhere

Preferred candy: Chocolate, winegums, sour candy

Dislikes: hard caramel, licorice although my fiance likes this

So there. Is that "bring a friend" mechanic ok with you, tmaynard?

That works for me! I'm basically letting some users that are outside of the US do double swaps, but the second swapper will be a loved one or friend.

Just make sure that whoever you are vouching for meets the deadlines and such! Because they aren't registered, we have to hold the person with the GAF account responsible.

You'll be the third person jumping on that bandwagon. So, we'll see how it goes. I have no doubt this will work fine and we'll have a lot more balance to the swaps so us Americans don't completely take over. :lol

Registered users list has been updated. Everyone up to this point has been logged and registered.

Remember, if you have registered before this post and your name is not on the registered list, then there is a good chance that I missed your post! So, PM me! :D

Believe it or not, the USA isn't overtaking the swap anymore.

USA Swappers: 22
Everyone Else: 26

Location : Northern Ireland

Candy Preference : I love all kinds, jelly / chewy sweets and chocolate are fine, also cans of fizzy stuff are appreciated!

Will swap anywhere with anyone - ould prefer someone from USA if possible to swap with!

First time swapper - long time reader :lol

Woo, maybe I'll get someone international after all! Oh well, either way. I scoped out a local candy shop yesterday, one with lots of old-fashioned and handmade stuff.

Yeah, I think you'll definitely have a international swapper. If we're lucky, I'll get to fulfill some users specific country requests.

Also, Babyhack, thanks for the bumps! I've been pretty busy, so I really appreciate the help.

I'll just note again that i'm away this weekend until Sunday evening, just incase whoever me and/or my girlfriend are swapping with dont get replies.

My girlfriend will check to see if any PMs are sent though and reply to them if necessary.

Well, if Alba fucks me over, I'll personally send a package of candy to her partner, but I do trust this girl. And you've seen her, she enjoys candy!

There will be an ungodly amount of candy in your next video... i'm really looking forward to it :D

Oh, that's a good point. I'm having oral surgery on Friday, so I will respond to all PMs as soon as possible. Don't worry if I don't respond immediately!

Yeah, I have no doubt you'll get things taken care of.

Can't wait for your next video! Maybe I'll be able to get another one together myself.

No probs

Oh and dont worry the GF will be sending out her candy same time as mine (shipping it from my office) so its all good

Finnegan is the man! :lol

I will be looking for a little something extra to include in my package as well. That was a great idea.

Everyone else should consider this as well! There is nothing against "personalizing" the contents of your packages as long as you aren't personalizing them with something that will get your package held/rejected by customs officers. :D

Also, the registered users list has been updated! Everyone up to this point is registered. If you have registered and you don't see your username in the OP, then please PM me!

Can I play? Even if I'm just an ickle Junior?

I'm very nice :)

If you let me play ;

Location: Norfolk , England

Type: Anything! I've been to states before and enjoyed the sweetie goodness, but my other half is oblivious to foreign candy. I do like Butterfingers though :D

I'm new, haven't participated in any swaps - but we all have to start somewhere, right?
