NeoGaf GOTY 2025 |OT| Results - Did your game survive "le Gommage"?

Nightreign not making the podium for most difficult is testament to it not being popular on GAF. Base bosses are tough, then they have souped-up Everdark versions. And that's before getting into Deep of Night, which ramps up the difficulty using an earned-points system similar to Bronze/Silver/Gold ELOs in multiplayer shooters while significantly increasing the stats of enemies at each level, up to a max of 5.

Surely Silksong isn't THAT difficult.
I played both

I love nightreign, I like it more than silksong but silksong is definitely harder unless maybe you're carrying really bad team mates

Granted those crazy new versions of the bosses they release periodically in nightreign are pretty insane. But silksong will routinely put you in a tiny arena where the boss summons minions infinitely and you got no wiggle room at all.

but yeah I think nightrang deserves maybe bronze hardest. But I haven't played khazan or ninja gaiden

Most of mine fell out like I knew they would...PROPHETICLY!!!!

J/k
Clair was well deserved imo, loved it.

cormack12 cormack12 amazing work on the GAF awards this year, thanks for the slick recap post.

To NeoGaf...glad to see so many of my choices resonated with the folks on the site as well. My gold sub is well worth it be among everyone here at Gaf who have such refined, elevated, and correct tastes.

See ya next year

Best sports game "Mario kart world"

Best fighting game of 2026… SF6.

Say what you want about Keighyls awards or IGN but at least they don't let dumb shit like this go through. 😂

No Kirby's Air Riders? GAF, I am disappoint.

Will this cause another overload of threads about how E33 is good, but doesn't deserve the praise?

Doubtful. There wasn't much strong competition and as someone who didn't love the game, I don't have a problem with it getting the honor. While not GAF awards, I think it will age much better than the likes of It Takes Two or The Walking Dead.

Did it win an Indie category? Then probably not. Or yes.

That Neogaf Awards gamepass category though... wtf.

After finishing my current Zelda 2 playthrough I'll go back into E33, will try to keep an open mind even though I didn't like what I tried around launch. I need to check if I'm so incredibly wrong here and it becomes amazing later on or what's the deal. Right now it's a mystery for me how it can rake in awards literally everywhere. Feels like when Zelda OoT arrived and people drooled over it and called it the best game ever even in Europe where it ran at 17fps and played like utter shit, that's one of the bigger mysteries in gaming.

Expedition 33 domination expected, deserved. Didn't expect Silksong to underperform, and the outsized reception to KCD2. Impressive.

After seeing KCD2 lose GOTY & best RPG again, I was like WTF, GAF??

But then I saw it took home the gold for "Best Game I Didn't Play" and it all made sense.

but seriously, WTF GAF? E33 barely qualifies as an RPG in comparison to KCD2

It seems Blue Prince will follow in the footsteps of Outer Wilds and Prey 2017 - 5 to 10 years from now people will sing its praises as a modern classic and us who played it when it was released will just slowly nod heads implying "told you so".
