NeoGAF Halo 3 Tournament

I would like to do a Campaign Tournament. I love campaign scoring.

My roomie and I are pretty good, and I'm constantly looking for a 4v4 team to get up to 50 with. I'm down for an invite anytime though.

This is an interesting name for a TJ Ramirez vs. Eric WK bout, but I don't know if it has the right ring to it. I'd just come out and say 'TJ Ramirez vs. Eric WK: After Everyone Else Dies.'

The tournament will be a mega-preface to the real battle.

Do not know much about Eric WK, but Rameriz isnt "THAT" good. ;)

And as far as this tourney goes, i tried to do something like this for Halo 2...... ..... ..... YEAH!(i.e it didnt work)

Eh, I guess if absolutely nobody is gonna step it up, I'll see what I can do. I still think someone like Ghal is better suited for this, but eh, you gotta do what you gotta do I guess.

Oddly enough, I've actually never played with Eric WK. I've played with Ram a couple of times during the Beta, and yeah, he is pretty damn good.

That's something we still have to decide on. A 4v4 TS tourney, while bland, seems like the best idea so far. The maps can be decided on later. The winning team would then do a 2v2 and ultimately a 1v1 to decide the GAF Halo 3 victor.

i think the 4v4 team should just be the victor. 2v2 is possible on maybe one map, but 1v1 doesnt work on any h3 map.

we get anything if we win?

Yeah, we're still really going to have to hammer out the details. Maps, teams, brackets, really everything has to be decided upon. As for a prize, if somebody is generous enough (m0dus much?) they could donate to the cause, maybe give away XBLA games or points or something. Maybe we could get the mods to give out titles to the winners a la the Mario Strikers tourney.

Yeah, points for Halo 3 DLC would be a cool idea.
 
Just my idea.

16 teams of four. 4 brackets of four teams. Have 4 different play times, when people sign up for those times that will also determine their team. For Example

Example
12 PM Eastern Time (bracket 1)

Team 1
1. Joe Shmo
2.
3.
4.

Team 2
1. Little foot
2. Bag Boy
3.
4.

Team 3
1.
2.
3.
4.

Team 4
1.
2.
3.
4.

3 Pm Easter time (Bracket 2)

Team 5
1.
2.
3.
4.


And so on.

If you want to sign up with particular friends just make sure you signup for the same team. This also helps people with busy schedules find a time where it is convenient to play. Do best 2 games out of 3. Loser of each game determines next map. 1st map is determined by whoever organizes the tournament. Team 1 plays Team 2, and the winner plays the winner of the Team 3 versus Team 4 game following the first round match. Do it on a Saturday or Sunday or both.

I think we should get as many single players in a room and devise mini-games to set up teams of 3 or 4.

That's a tough one. Personally, I'd like to keep the tournament GAF-only because, well, it is the "NeoGAF Halo 3 Tournament." That's another thing we'd have to decide on.

As for teams themselves, I think we should just let GAFfers make their own teams. The ones who are left over would then randomly get assigned to either new teams or teams that are looking for one or two more players.

As for the tournament itself, I really think it all depends on the amount of players/teams we get. I'm thinking best of three, like C4Lukins suggested, with maps either being assigned randomly, or teams picking them. If there's not many people, we can always do a double-elim tourney.

Not that I really care, but you're always so quick to downplay me. :lol
 
I'm also willing to try and set this up, but as many have stated these things tend to fail. I'll make a post in the online forum later, I think it should be 4v4, with a mix of slayer and objective games.
 
I'm still up for this... however if it's during the holidays ( when my console is in my APT and not at home with the family ) then I'm out :(.
