Absolutely, i wish more was like this because then we could get back to actual nuance. The one thing I learned is there's simply moments to let debates go, like if I'm loving a game and it's getting shit on I don't need to alter everyone's mind I'll engage if I feel like it but ultimately it's not worth the frustration of trying to change peoples minds when they have their made up opinions.

1. NeoGAF is actually very neutral, maybe a little bit right leaning but not as much as people think, I wish some of you saw the Asian forums I visit, they are actually brutal and see us westerners as dumb ass neanderthals discussing the most common sense shit.

I rarely put people on ignore, and half the time they're people that catch a permaban within a couple months anyway.

While I do agree that there are threads where people seem to overreact to stuff (and it does get tiring sometimes), GAF is still one of the very, very few boards that are somewhat close to what internet culture was in the early 2000s. You can throw around words like "retard", for example. And people don't immediately ban you because it's "problematic". To my knowledge, only RPGCodex and 4chan/v/ are more unmoderated in that respect. But that also has its downsides, where you also see threads on /v/ that are just straight up racist bait threads that have nothing to do with video games.

I do think that the "Off-Topic" board on GAF is still hilariously politicized and if I had a say, I would just have gaming-related boards only. But that's just me.
