I think the voting should be left open until Jan. 16th, 11:59pm PST. To account for the images only being compiled yesterday afternoon.

1) alterno69
2) aidan

I think both these shots have a really good juxtaposition and convey a great energy. Toss up for me which is first but in the end I liked alterno's slightly more, mostly I think due to the tighter crop and more interesting lighting/colors. Aidan's shot really makes me laugh though, both girls have perfect expression lol.

First Place: Toddler - This is awesome, and just what I was hoping for when I created the thread. Very genuine, lots of energy, and a nice sense of family/friendship. I love that one of the women is looking at the camera, and then other isn't. Feels underexposed, but that's my only real criticism.

Runner-up: alterno69 - Wonderfully executed.

Comments:

pixelated - A nice shot, and a pretty girl. I find the colours a little washed out, though, and a closer crop might have been better to showcase her striking eyes, which are as much a part of the smile as her mouth.

Lumix - Studio portraits and lighting is something I have very little experience with, and I'm always sort of jealous when I see shots like this. Nice, but I wish her right arm wasn't clipped at the left edge of the frame.

Photosynthesis - I like the use of foreground items to frame the photo, but the missing eyes hurt the overall sense of connection with the woman.

trunbuns - Lovely girl, lovely smile, lovely eyes. Feels a little underexposed and warm to me, however.

RobotHaus - I like that you were thinking outside the box. Those eyes freak me out!

Illithid Dude - The girl's pale skin and dark clothing are a striking combination. I think you could have cropped more tightly to draw focus to her and away from the background.

dark_chris - I really like the emotion in this photo. The photo would be much stronger if the focus had fallen on his face, rather than his right hand.

pringles - Very nice portrait. I really wanted to vote for this, but felt the photo would have benefitted from some slight eye contact with the girl.

F0NZ - A corgi seems like the perfect dog for this theme! Nice portrait.

Damaged - Good portrait, adorable smile. And honourable mention, for sure.

sarcastor - Great studio work, nice tones.

1st. alterno69: Glad you changed you entry to this one, it's my favorite from it's post in the official thread. Little bro being a ham for the camera made me smile as well :)

2nd. pringles: The lack of eye contact makes this photo seem very candid, leaving me to believe her smile is totally natural. Love the exposure (as usual) with your shots.

According to my math, i won, BUT i'd rather someone neutral do the math and make it official :D
