Basically, what Reed Hastings is saying that as a result of Netflix's global expansion, they're looking into making more regional programming to cater to their global audience. He cites Narcos as their experimental series, stating that..
When I look at our shows, we just had one come out this summer, Narcos, and it's a very different kind of show. It's an American company, Netflix, contracts with the oldest movie company in the world — a french company Gaumont — to make a production in Bogota, Columbia, featuring Brazilian actors and directed by a Brazilian — three quarters Spanish, one quarter English — and it's hugely popular in Germany.

You go beyond the normal spectrum to get quality and you really stretch to the things that you can do. On-demand and the internet really gives you that power. when you have incredible distribution, then you have to open the front end of the funnel to have incredible producers around the world.

We're hopeful that we'll over time make a great Bollywood show, make a great anime show. It might not be that that Bollywood show is for [Showtime CEO] Matt Blank. It might be that it's more segmented, but again the internet let's you do that. I think that's the key in that enablement. But as Matt knows, making these shows is very challenging and I'm sure we'll have issues over time.

So, with this, what do you want to see Netflix branch into? Any ideas as to what Netflix would make in regards to anime? I know they distributed Knights of Sidonia, but considering they just launched in Japan, might we see more anime originals or J-dramas? Any Nostradumuses here willing to predict what Netflix will do next?

Will cancel my account if it's funding something as vile as anime.

Hey netflix I got a suggestion for ya, a proper manga adaptation for Rurouni Kenshin. Let's finally have the completed arc.

... Do it Netflix ...

In regards to Knights of Sidonia, The Seven Deadly Sins, and this other one called Ajin: Demi-Human, I think Netflix is merely distributing them and paying for licensing & localization. They aren't making them. What Hastings is talking about is Netflix making anime like how they made House of Cards or Narcos.

Give me an Avatar series starring an Avatar in the future. A future where technology has made the avatars multiple bending ability achievable by everyone.

The are already featuring The Seven Deadly Sins as a Netflix exclusive. Just watched it last night.

Same. The wife and I binged it. She finished it but it was a great one. I know there is is a space one. I forgot the name but it was great and has 2 seasons so far.

netflix, I'll give you my first born child if you bring back the real Teen Titans, Young Justice or/and Green Lantern The Animated Series. Work something out with WB please. Yea yea its not foreign but Teen Titans took a lot of inspiration from anime so it counts

First thing that came to my head was that netflix may give another season to some show I think really needs another season.

But then no show came to my head.

edit: well, I mean anime. I'll break down if netflix brought back Young Justice.

Netflix Spain said something similar recently. Looks like Spanish TV Shows (like Grand Hotel or The Time In Between) are doing good in several markets.

I think Netflix could potentially produce great live action manga/anime movies/series adaptions.

Think Japanese movies with actually good budgets. could be amazing.

I don't believe the part about how Narcos is "hugely popular in Germany". I also feel that much of this is just lip service, given that I've heard similar statements in Germany since launch.

I bet we're going to see Netflix-chan all embarrassed with panties covering ber boobs while pooping subscriptions in every advertisement. They know what the anime fans want.
