Neverwinter: Console Version | OT | "Your mother was an orc!"

I would say so, you'll even run into a lot of familiar characters. Though, a lot won't show up until level 60.

Extreme shot in the dark, anyone from balders gate dark alliance or champions of norrath show up? Those are the only forgotten realm games I've played.(they are forgotten realms right?) I loved the hell out of those games.

Edit: I just learn con is set in the ever quest universe.

Yes. Without spoiling anything. Mostly characters from Icewind Dale and Baulders Gate.

How about "NeoGaf" :D

Usually GAF guilds are spelled out so I figured it would be cool to continue with that trend. I think the FFXIV one was "Guardians Against Fate" which I always liked. I'm logging into the game in about 10 min so I'll tool around with the guild creation tools to see what's what. Assuming I'm at the level you need to be at, that is, lol.

Hmm seems it's traditional MMO style where we have to be grouped to start the guild process. You guys have any time this week and wanna try it out with me?

I thought it was normal to have an OT for the console version go up on gaming side when the MMO actually launches on consoles, maybe try talking to a mod to see if this can be moved over there.

It launched on XB1 a while back so maybe the mod that moved it was basing from that rather than the topic date.

well this is a PS4 launch thread now so OP could ask a mod to move it :)

I think it needs 5 people, I'm happy to jump on this evening, I'm EU based so it's 10am here at the moment and I'm stuck in work.

same here, let's see what the situation looks like in the evening. And on that note, i'm on PSN with the same nickname, add me and just say Gaf in the message so i know :)

Yeah I almost missed this thread because it was Community. I rarely come over here unless I'm subbed to a thread. (I should make an effort to come over here more because there's some great threads)

...as someone whose only real experience with RPG/loot//MMO game mechanics is The Division, is Neverwinter a good place to start or am I going to find it way too complicated?

Is it a good fit for someone with only an hour or two now and then to spare who games usually in a shared space so though I have a mic and headphones and pretty much always listen, I can't always talk?

If the answer to the above questions are fine/yes then what's a decent place to start in terms of race and class? I assume the Division is totally different but here I have mostly been playing what I have been told is a "tanky support and healer dude" and have quite enjoyed that as a role. Pretty open to whatever however.

Does race govern who you can/can't play with?

I downloaded it the other day from the PSN store but have got around to launching it as yet but I'm pretty curious.

On a different note:

Also EU based and also happy to help this evening if an extra is needed (anytime from 2000 - 2300 BST/EST+5). I've not even created a character yet and hey, might not even dig the game but hey, makes sense to get in on the ground floor when I'm a n00b!

Been playing this a bunch over the past few days. Just hit level 20 and I'm surprised by how much I'm liking it. Feels pretty familiar to a WoW player, which is nice.

I played this on XB1 for a while and enjoyed it. I'll probably DL the new PS4 version and check it out as well to see how big of a difference there is. The PC version runs the best I'm sure but it has no native controller support, so I'm stuck with the console versions.

Anyone reached Charthraxis yet?

Yup, about to be over leveled for that zone but I was there all day yesterday. "Char up" is a regular thing in that zone. Boy do people like arguing about whether or not it's spamming saying he's up or asking for invites.

It's a fun little fight, haven't gotten any of the drops from him though.

Does he actually drop stuff? Killed him 4 times and all he gives is dragon coins for the campaign. One arcane page away from my first boon.

I've been curious about Never winter for some time. I love dnd. I love neverwinter nights.

This game is just plain unfun though. The graphics are bland. The exploration is boring and generic.

I rolled halfling warlock. And it isn't that cool.

I mean, I only spent an hour... but I'm not really feeling this.

I'd say one hour is not enough to judge the quality of the game, because it gets better later.

I don't think it ever gets AMAZING, at least not from what I've played, but it becomes a lot more enjoyable later on.

It's still too goddamn easy though.

I'm curious. Did you approach this game with the intent to mainly play it single-player or are you intending on joining guilds and doing the multi stuff?

Probably not to much guild stuff but I'd be ok playing with othe people

Pomy problem is that it is basically a pretty generic fantasy mmo, worth the bear minimum dnd on top.

Yep, I can confirm this too because I had the Dragon Bone Shield drop for my Paladin back on the Xbox. Never dropped anything for my 2 CW playthroughs, but the moment I started a OP, it dropped something almost immediately. I've yet to get him to drop anything but coins and enchantments on PS4.

Let me ask, if I'm reading correctly, the loot dropped from this dragon is loot that scales to your level? So it levels up with you?

If i like playing tabletop dnd will I like this game? Should mention I didnt really care for world of warcraft.

It's pretty similar to wow in the quest structure. You can argue game mechanics but to be honest, it basically plays just like wow(or eso if you played eso)does.

Loot only drops from the quest rewards though right? So I can't just kill him over and over. Gotta wait for the quest to reset.
