Neverwinter: Console Version | OT | "Your mother was an orc!"

^^ I did download this yesterday but I didnt have time to play at all. Later today I hope to start. My "summer" holiday starts in 2½ weeks so I guess I know what I do on holiday if I dont have anything else to do :P. Going to fill the PS4 form when I have made character, as said earlier Iam EU peasant and going mage way :).

I just discovered you can buy armor dyes for cheap in the auction house.

RIP my crystals.

Plus when they start adding weekly events on the PS4 version, no doubt they'll start giving you a ton of dyes in those too. I was swimming in dyes on the Xbox because of that.

Does anyone know where to get Greater and Major Injury Kits? The only answer I've found is "the consumables vendor in Protector's Enclave", but he doesn't sell them. The wiki sites are totally useless, and include no information other than tooltips and the price.

Are you sure you're going to the right guy and you're the correct level to use them? The guy the the left of the entrance of the market? He's always always my injury kit dealer.

Is this game viable enough if you don't want to put any money into it or will it take a long ass time to even reach top level?

I don't think paying increases your character level much tbh, I guess the VIP does give bonus experience, but I think it's more items than leveling. Things like the lock boxes will contain consumables for leveling up professions etc.

Control Wizard
Scourge Warlock

Both in Epic Gear\Weapons

I did 2 level 60 characters without spending a penny. 60-70 will be a grind, and I eventually got both to 70, but I did buy VIP for those so had a small XP boost.

Can the lockboxes only be opened with real money? Because I have like 70+ of them at this point.

That's why they drop so easily. To tempt you to buy Zen.

But you can also use your saved up AD to purchase Zen

Just want to add that w/ the Astral Diamond Exchange you can purchase anything off the Zen marketplace with a bit of dedication. The VIP bonus also gives you a bonus 15% Astral Diamonds from running group instances, which theoretically you could easily trade (along with auctioned professional materials and unwanted items) in for 1000 Zen, or far more if you play quite heavily, per month to always keep VIP and saving for the odd extras out of the Zen marketplace without spending a penny. I've been playing for a little less than 2 weeks and have been VIP for half of that, and have about 1500 Zen worth of Astral Diamonds at the current exchange rate. Though i have been playing quite a lot, as my schedule is pretty free over this summer.

The potions and kits vendor in the Protector's Enclave's Seven Suns Coster Market, also pretty much any vendor in high level zones.

I was an avid FFXIV player and totally wrote this off as being a cheap and nasty F2P deal when it hit Xbox One. Decided to redownload it and try again now it's on PS4 and I have no idea what's clicked with me more this time round but I am hooked!

It's rough around the edges for sure, but I'm enjoying the hell out of everything I've played so far. I'm trying to ween myself off of FFXIV as my new job I'm starting after the summer will mean I can't spend as much time gaming and I don't really want to be tied to an MMO over all the new releases coming out, and this seems like the perfect remedy that means I can come and go from it without having to worry about a wasted subscription free.

This is my view too, although I have picked up VIP status for the keys and ease of travel/vendor etc.

But I'd rather pay something like that than a recurring fee that makes me feel like I need to be playing it.

Definitely sounds like a game I'll keep on my HDD then. Thanks!

I would, personally I'm loving it on the PS4, from what I understand the real enjoyment comes after hitting 70 but so far it's a pretty solid MMO. It doesn't have WoWs polish but there is enough variation in locations that I don't just feel like i'm in a reskinned area.

Been really pleasantly surprised by this game so far. Love the combat and it seems to have loads of content.

That said, the cost for upgrading companions to the next grade is fucking ridiculous though. My blue companion takes 500k crystals or 90 tokens. After playing the game for 11 hours I have a grand trap of 36k crystals and 0 companion tokens. What the fuck? As far as I can tell there's not even a way to buy crystals or these tokens so it's not even like this crazy pricing is meant to drive ppl to the in game store. I really do not get it.

My friend tells me that AD starts to drop at a MUCH faster rate once you get to higher levels.

Also you can trade Zen for AD so in fact you could use real money to level up your companions if you so desired.

Honestly though my companion feels so OP half the time I don't even think I need to worry about it haha.

Sooooo, Perfect World gave me a handful of codes for free Boar Mounts to give away. You need the Arc app installed also and need to link your ARC account. This is for Xbox One only. (I will PM you the instructions on how to redeem if you get a code)

Let me know if you want one Xbox players...first come first serve.

If you have any boar mounts left I would appreciate one.

So my Warlock is lvl 17 and I'm slowly getting the hang of the systems in this game. Regarding crafting, any suggestions as to what professions to focus on first? All the guides mention Leadership but I saw in the wiki that they removed the Rough ADs from it and was wondering if it was a required profession to have still.

I was thinking about starting with Leatherworking and Jewelry, would those be good? Any tips or guides would be most appreciated.

I just hate feeling like I'm wasting experience by having him out since he's capped. I really want to upgrade but it seems completely infeasible for me right now. It's incredibly frustrating seeing you could upgrade your companion but you have no real way of to pay for it.

Buy Zen, use zen to purchase Astral Diamonds

Going rate is about 165AD/1Z so you are looking at 3000ish Zen which works out to £24 via PlayStation Store. You sure you want to pay for it?

Hell no. $24 to upgrade a companion is insane. That's what I'm saying the prices for the companion upgrade just seem crazy high 500k AD or 90 tokens is way too much.

Exactly, I've gotten 30 tokens from boxes so far, I bought the early access pack so had 20 keys to start with and have since bought another 20. I wouldn't like to think how long it's going to take me to get the next 60 but with the VIP I can at least open 1 box a day.

Failing that I will wait for a sale on the keys or a voucher in a box for them.

If you don't want to buy it, AD is quite easy to build up later in the game if you sell all your unneeded blues and purples in the trade house. And when the weekly events starts, and they start dropping exclusive companions and dyes, etc. You can also sell them in the trade house and make some decent AD.

I shudder to think what the companion upgrade costs for a legendary upgrade are if epic is this much. Makes it seem worthless to upgrade companions.

How does one go about getting lire companions? Do they drop as loot from somewhere or something. Will I just get higher grade companions as drops later on?

But that would mean leveling all the way to max with a companion that's capped at lvl 30. That seems unwise for someone who mostly plays solo.

Was interested until I found out it's the same P2W system as on the PC. Good luck grinding for months for hours daily to be on the same gear level as someone who drops a hundred dollars or so to upgrade their enchantments and companions.

Never change, PerfectWorld Entertainment.

I have to say. Despite this game having tons of performance issues, feeling unpolished on certain area's and the graphics not being anything spectacular, I am having a lot of fun with this.

This seems to scratch my itch for the moment until No Man's Sky gets released.

It sure feels like an MMO considering you are tackling quests with others, the city is filled with other players and there are literally quests and stores everywhere. It feels like something fresh despite myself having played World of Warcraft in its starting year.

I guess delivering this on consoles is a smart move. It felt crowded enough. I am still contemplating on staying with my Trickster Roque or becoming a mage, but being able to go full stealth is a great escape mechanic as well.
Ya its got some good bits.

Now I am just crossing my fingers for the Secret World to make the rumored jump.

Found newish (6th July 2016) CW guide that has shitloads of info:
Sharpedge’s “Almost Everything” CW Guide:
(Mod 9 PVE)

Beautiful! I'll add it to the OP - please let me know if you come across any other guides, folks! :)

Woah, seriously?? I would SO be on that if it were to happen!

waaaaa
did the old Xbox one go away?

I think it's still there but I'm not sure if it's active anymore. I figured we could use this as a reboot. This thread seems primarily PS4 focused but I know we have some XBO brethren in there somewhere. ;)

Some of the prices are pretty offensive.

Sadly I see more and more games going F2P. Occasionally it works well, but more than often it's just the developers trying to get you to spend more than the typical $60. Way more.

In doing that comes the crutch. So much shit that would otherwise be earn-able in-game becomes paid. Or a seriously insane grind.

And cosmetics matter in MMOs. Before anyone hits that argument.

I'd rather this have been like ESO. Buy to own, and free to play with a monthly sub that can give you some stuff. I'm going to give it a go, but any game with 3+ fucking currencies and MTs absolutely everywhere gets on my nerves.

I'm sure with 40 boxes you've got some decent things you can sell on the ah for lots of diamonds. Blood rubies and Opal diamonds sell for a whole lot for instance.

Did you get the griffon?

lol dled this friday and am having a blast just got my control wiz to 30.. really fun in groups. got invited to a guild and playing in groups of 5 with mics on the guild map is really fun...
stillseems like they should have more tutorials and I fucking hate HATTTTEE the ui but still really great for a free game. hope they patch some glitches and maybe ui tweaking options all i really wanta do is make it smaller.. ff14 ui options has spoilt me forever.

so guys im on ps4 does anyone know is there a way to find out how many hours youve played ???

nah getting max level isnt that hard its got a shit load of campaigns once your level 70...
and yes you can literally play all of it with no money.. but it will take time.. turning astral diamonds into zen is time consuming if you dont throw down money..

Can the lockboxes only be opened with real money? Because I have like 70+ of them at this point.

no the game just trolls you lol the keys can be bought with zen which is irl money but you can exchange AD for zen down the line so just save them all... its really a time investment.
i have over 100 lol i just save them and put them in my bank so its doesnt really waste a item slot...

more than anything soo far other than the UI in this game is the terrible small inventory space its really shitty... but just a tip
put every item thats is decent on the auction house for really small AD prices it takes it out your inventory and if you put it for cheaper than it suggests you usually get AD for it.

I really like how my character looks and I'm only lvl 35.

I hope endgame stuff doesn't fall into the overdesigned crap cheap RPG artstyle.

Control Wizard: Ripatto Horatto has step to Neverwinter.

First 3 hours were awesome. Ui is bad, luckily game itself is fun (atleast early levels). Nice bonus was that at level 5 I looked City (Cant remember name) more closely to find more quests & shop to sell trash. Found one shop that was selling stuff and also in one tab had "Special" (free) Companion & mount.

The joy of moving faster in city already in level 5. How I hated the time in WoW where you needed to be level 40 (or was it 60) to get buy your first mount.

Named my first companion as "Free Radical".

I'm with you on this. In spite of terrible frame rates in the city area, occasional crashes, obscure mechanics on occasion (I really miss paper manuals), I'm enjoying it almost as much as vanilla WoW. In some ways, it's the first MMO since ages that's recreated that "Everything is new, what could be around the next corner?" feeling, for me at least.

I think it's partly because I only downloaded it for giggles; I went into it totally blind and I think that's really helped my sense of discovery in the game. Sometimes I need saving from myself ;)

Same here, the city framerate is abysmal and some questlines are in unplayable condition. But i hope this gets enough players to warrant updates and patches.

mhhh i have absolutely zero free time right now, but will still download. miss an good mmorpg to play. vacation cant come soon enough

I fail to find info. Can someone say, do you get some pack (welcome pack?) when you buy 1 month VIP.
Wikiinfo about Zen market
Iam just wondering should I spend 20€ to Heirloom Weapon Pack. Not for the weapons, but the other stuff you get.
Code:
The Heirloom Weapon pack contains precious items that have been passed down through many generations.
These weapons and items will match your power as you grow,
use the power sealed within them to cleave a path through all those who would dare stand on your road to glory!
From levels 5-50, this pack will grant you new heirlooms every 5 levels. The types of equipment you can receive are:
Main-hand Weapons
Offhand Weapons
Shirts
Pants
Defensive Rings
Offensive Rings

This pack also includes:
Mercenary Companion
1 Extra Character Slot
1 Retraining token
[B]1 Greater Bag of Holding[/B]
Obviously Iam going to buy atleast 1 level to VIP, but before doing those I want to know is there any point to buy that HWP.

Despite no advice being forthcoming from the thread I went ahead and tried to create a character and get playing.

I selected a human Great Weapon Fighter as this race and class seems like they are the easiest to understand for a new-to-MMOs player. I mean it's a dude/lass with a whacking great big sword which I presume you can hit stuff with, how easy is that!

I selected a gender and started to fiddle with the character creator. After much slider slidering I got what I felt was a character I would like to play as and rolled some stats a few times to get what I felt might be a reasonable starting balance.

Then the server went down and I was kicked back to the start screen.

Not a great first impression.

Oh well, maybe I'll try again at the weekend.

Found some tutorial videos for noobs like me.

It seems like if you spend 500 zen (or is it $5), you get the First time Buyer pack http://neverwinter.gamepedia.com/First_Time_Buyer's_Pack
I need to figure out if its just Zen (getting it from AD trade) or do I have to spend real money but it seems like a pretty nice perk

And from what I can gather (im lvl 21 right now) you can make about 11k AD doing 2 skirmishes and 2 dungeons and 3600 AD from 2 pvp matches a day. At the current trade rate, thats about 200 Zen. My guess is that getting VIP for 1000 zen seems like a good idea because it'll give you 15% additional AD from pve dailies as well as daily keys for EACH of your characters for those stupid purple chests. http://neverwinter.gamepedia.com/VIP_Program#Ranks

I'm guessing after getting to 70, you should be getting AD to trade for ZEN more easily and paying for VIP with AD should be a viable thing.

Hey, whaddayaknow, skirmishes are actually pretty fun. I spent last night doing the same ones over and over, and even won a DPS race. Too bad there's no bonus for that.

Dungeons and Skirmishes are great.

Since I'm a CW and levelled up quite a bit, I will often finish at the top of the damage leaderboard due to AOE spells. But as you pointed out, it doesn't seem to give you a bonus or anything which is a shame.
