New Dark Souls Screenshots [Update: More Screenshots]

Well, the environment is beautiful. An old overgrown castle looking over a dense forest bellow. The common slave enemies feel just like the prisoners in Latria. Fought the iron boar, but didn't defeat him. Lots of archers plugging you with arrows in this area. Fought my way through to a church hall, and fought a big armored knight, this games blue eyed knight I suppose. There was a spellcaster above shooting rays at me, who I got to after climbing up, and killed him.

Made it higher and up onto the church roof, lined with gargoyles. One of them came to life, and the boss battle ensued. He had a buckler, and was wielding a long poleaxe. I cut his tail of as I fought him, then a second one showed up, just like Maneater. This other one breathed fire, while the other kept close and swinging. Fought them on the roof for a while before finally taking them both out. It felt like their health was pretty low for the demo. I'm sure the real fight will be harder in the game. I quit here, because I felt bad for the pore guy recording with my iPhone. All that was left was to climb up the last bell tower, and ring the bell.
I'll try and upload the video later to share. There is more to the demo, too. Red wyvern, and maybe more. I'll try and get all of it recorded and linked. All I have is my iPhone, so we'll see....

Alright, off to play again :)

When you're playing, please confirm the difference between "dying" and "hollowing". Also notice the little flame in the icon next to your HP and stamina bar that goes out when you first "die".

Are the Solaire of Astora and Black Knight classes exclusive for the demo? Please ask the staff these questions, if you get a chance.

don't you guys think the Dark Knight and other class should be like level up classes? as in we get to choose them after we have leveled up and advanced quite a bit?

just being able to pick Dark Knight is kind of lame in my opinion, especially compared to just the simple and humble choices of Soldier, Wizard and stuff of the first game.

I bet it is just for the E3 demo.

It should be an End Game unlock.
 
Actually, this looks so incredibly sublime.
It looks visually greater than usual suspects like Uncharted among others, I can't believe this.

Not only that but never forget what makes great games. It wouldn't have been possible if it weren't for us fans. I'd like to think GAF helped spread the word considerably. Gets me excited to usher in the new OT.

'You Died' has been replaced with 'You Hollowed'.

Yeah, those were two awful players lol. The phantom was swinging at air several times, and the player himself never allowed his stamina to rejuvenate and kept rolling and holding block. Neither really took the time to pot up when they had space, but then again, the # of consumables was probably limited in the demo.

Can't WAIT for this game. Although :sadface: at no Wanderer class.

Probably get "You Died" when you're in body form, and "You Hollowed" when you die in soul form, if that mechanic is still in the game.

Although I do notice, you no longer have 50% of your health in soul form, requiring you to use a Cling Ring all the time.

The strange thing for me was, from that demo walkthrough on gametrailers, seeing the player die and then "Hollow", yet his stack of souls didn't disappear.

I like better how he's trying to roll when he doesn't have enough strength. Ditch the armor, nub!

That is the one thing that I've been bummed about with the gameplay footage we've seen. Nearly everyone is playing heavily armored slow assed characters. I really want to see someone play as the witch. The Pyromancer footage was so good.

No, I think you die first and then when you die again, you hollow. Pretty sure I saw "you died" a bunch of times in vids.

Yep. You die in human form, you die. You die in soul form (or the equivalent), you hollow.

Balanced in what way? As in other worlds getting more invasions?

I've always thought it would be interesting to have invasions reward the invading player with special equipment based on the world you would invade in.

Body and soul form isn't in Dark Souls. Instead you are either more human or more undead. The flame displayed in the top-right icon may be an indicator of how human or undead you are.

The flame dies down if you die, but is restored if you reach the place you died and regain your souls. It grows when you defeat black phantom players or the host as the invader.
