Please let the 360 version be on par with the ps3 one.

I did see one report from that the 360 version will be heavily compressed to fit on one disc, just found it here, http://www.justpushstart.com/2011/0...360-version-heavily-compressed-onto-one-disc/

While playing the demo of Dark Souls at the Namco Bandai booth today at the E3 show floor, one of the questions I asked to the Namco Bandai representative is to what are the sacrifices From Software had to do in order to put it on the Xbox 360. A simple answer given to us is, “a lot of compression has to be done on the Xbox 360 to make it stay on a single disc”.

When it comes to compressing a game on the Xbox 360, we all know how much quality it loses. For players who are thinking of purchasing Dark Souls on the PS3, expect the data to be uncompressed, thus having better quality in terms graphics and sounds. Take note that the lead platform of Dark Souls is the PS3 and the Xbox 360 is a direct port.

Expect our hands-on impression of Dark Souls later this week. More exclusive E3 scoops soon!

Dont think ive seen it elsewhere mentioned and how much difference is I'm not sure maybe if they are running both version on the floor someone could find out.

I don't think the graphics will take a hit, seeing as the textures are pretty blurry. The game looks good, but not in a technical sense. It's all down to mood and atmosphere due to the design. I imagine videos and audio will be heavily compressed, though.

I am sure the 360 version will be find and I don't expect it to be really bad compared to the PS3 version. The engine is bound to work better on PS3 but I am sure 360 owners will still have a comparable experience with Dark Souls.

On a side note, how many players in PvE or PvP are we expecting? 4 max maybe? I just had this crazy vision of some side-options in Dark Souls where we could play 4v4 CTF. :D

4 max, with the host and any variation of 1-3 blue and black phantoms.

If you're going to play it again Oracrest, please try the witch class and see what equipment and spells it has. So far all I've heard is that is has soul arrow, but we have no footage of it.

Thats cool how there are "world events" like in the demo, you rang the bell and it chimed in other people's games

Yes, that's really cool. Seems like a pretty big deal. I was like "Man, this boss is tou...SHIT THERE'S TWO OF THEM NOW ONE IS BREATHING FIRE".

Just a difference between dying in body/undead form, perhaps?

There didn't seem to be any visual differences. I didn't look at the HP bar though.

Will do.

They did not fix the weightless ragdolls? What?!

Why would they? They were AWESOME :D

So I was browsing the Wiki last night and man, some really cluttered entries. I'm taking it upon myself to clean it up and add some clarity. Just thought I would let people know.

Demon's Souls is what gaming used to be. Challenge. Simplicity. Satisfaction.
If you miss out on Dark Souls, you're turning your back on your childhood days of grinding away at challenging games like MegaMan.

EDIT:
Things I wonder about Dark Souls:
Will there be an equivalent of a Nexus and separate worlds or will everything be part of one open world? I think I'd like an open world where you go out on quests.
Will there be any "towns" in the world?
New moves!?

"I would have told you but I wanted to see you die"
This must be the design motto.

As for the Nexus part of that.. I've heard that there won't be a Nexus in this game. I have zero links to any reputable source explaining that. But iirc, there isn't one, and instead you have those fires to kind of regather, and figure stuff out.

Thank you. Also, please ask the staff for clarification on if the classes and some items are for demo purposes only, especially Solaire of Astora and the Black Knight.

How long does shipping take when ordering from PA? Thinking about buying the Japanese version from Play Asia but it's 90 friggin bucks.

You stealth edited. :( I'm importing it via PLAY-ASIA. Don't care if I have to pay extra to get at it a month earlier.

I want to watch that demo footage so bad but I've seen so much, I can't watch anymore. If I see someone succeed at beating the demo then I'll know how to beat the demo on the first try lol.

Best game I've played at the show!

Though two things:
I didn't think it looked *as good* as those screen shots.
The character still moved a bit wonky for me, and I didn't like the super fast/awkward way he switched weapons. It was a bit jarring.

edit: three things

So I need to invert the controls 'cause I'm not lame like that, and as I was figuring out the menus, a damn zombie dude climbed up the ladder on a platform I was resting on and killed me before I could exit out. That was a pretty big 'wtf' moment. If you linger for too long, no kidding... they actually seek you out haha. Damn no pause feature!

You are a very lucky man, and I know many people on this forum will appreciate what you're doing.

I also think you're a braver man than me, because I wouldn't want to spoil another thing about Dark Souls until I have it in the comfort of my home on my own PS3. For this reason, I salute your efforts, but will continue to enjoy your Demon's Souls videos with my cereal each morning.

oracrest, hallowed be thy name.

Yeah, I like that the one has a different tactic. It makes it feel like they are strategizing against you more intelligently. You definetly need to take out the fire breather first, because that attack is long, and he follows you with it. I had the best luck rushing him to get behind him when he does this, since his speed side to side seems pretty slow.

I think I am going to try some invading and co-op today as well. Any specific requests?

Showing how the co-op works would be great, specifically how you get people into games etc. It is still something they are not really showing enough of.

More of the various spells and abilities would be cool to see. Loads of sword combat has been shown but not much in the way of spells etc.

Great work!

Unless I'm mistaken, the fire breath attack can harm the other gargoyle, similar to how you can kill the armored boar by luring him into the fire.

Don't think so. I've watched a lot of videos and specifically looked for that during the boss fight, but neither have been damaged even when the other stands in the middle of the flames.

Ah, my bad. The first video I saw was really blurry, but it looked like the the other one took damage from the fire attacks.

So what is the archer/dual wielding katana class in this game?

It's the Rainbromancer class. Specializes in whips and wears black leather armor/mask at all times.

Thank you for capturing footage of the witch class oracrest.

edit: and finally getting official confirmation on the humanity mechanic, at least what little they disclose.

Hmm, soul arrow looks even slower this time. I hope mages don't get the pvp shaft again in this game. It was already easy enough in Demon's Souls to dodge pretty much all of a mage's attacks, unless it was laggy. (though it was often laggy... which is another thing I hope they changed.)

Played a lot more today. The game is unfair. People were leaving red phantoms in my world (that they weren't controlling, they just planted them) in front of a boss. And I ran and the two red phantoms followed me. So I had to fight two red phantoms AND a boss :(

Didn't last 2 sec

Did you see anything else at E3.... or just never leave their booth?

It's the highlight this year, for sure. Barely posted that last link as the flight home was
Lifting off.

I was never able to kill the dragon.

Hopefully they fix it so you can't do that in the boss area.
