Why not sure now? At worst the 360 version might have slightly worse gfx. My hunch is it'll have better textures, perform better and better AA since 2xAA is always free on the 360.fna84 said:I really wanted to buy the 360 version just in case it has better graphics/online features but i'm not too sure now..

But will that really be true for Japan? The Japanese version has a different publisher.. so will there be separate servers for Japan and everyone else?
As far as I know, PS3 games having uncompressed sound is a myth. A lot of people say that MGS4 has uncompressed sound, and that simply isn't true. While sound is typically higher quality in the PS3 versions of games, that doesn't mean it's uncompressed.Speedymanic said:Haven't the developers already said the game will be heavily compressed on 360? uh, lpcm is uncompressed. As far as I know, PS3 games having uncompressed sound is a myth. A lot of people say that MGS4 has uncompressed sound, and that simply isn't true. While sound is typically higher quality in the PS3 versions of games, that doesn't mean it's uncompressed.
Oh right. I forgot that Uncharted has LPCM. It doesn't seem to be something that is featured a lot, however. It would be great if Dark Souls had that kind of support.mattp said:uh, lpcm is uncompressed.
I believe From Software has stated it would be at least twice as long as Demon's Souls, in addition to having a far greater number of items, spells, and enemies.JudgeN said:Ive been staying far away from Dark Souls threads because its day 0 purchase but my question is has there been in information regarding game length? Demon Souls was a fantastic game but once you figured out the combat the game was really very short game. Now having experience with the type of game Dark souls is going to be I'm worried it might be short like demon souls.

The biggest downside I can think of is the crummy, distant d-pad. The other stuff, like the triggers, face buttons, and analog stick placement are all pretty subjective though.Proposed Law said:I usually play my games on the 360, but after surviving the first game, I have a hard time imagining how they would map the controller to the 360. I just can't see it feeling as good as the ps3.

Most likely, yeah. I'm guessing it'll be the standard split, where the 360 gets crisper textures and some AA, and the PS3 gets nicer sound, lighting, and shader effects.TheExecutive said:Are they using the same engine as Demon's Souls? You're right. I was speaking in general terms about what are generally pretty subtle differences, and I doubt we'll see much of a difference at all.soldat7 said:The lead platform is PS3.
I didn't need to ask Nobuaki about the difficulty of the game. He proudly offered up this bit of information: The developers had designed this particular demo specifically for E3. It was possible to complete, but they didn't think anyone would be able to finish it. Six people made it through the demo. The developers are taking this personally, and are working to make the final retail release even more difficult. So six people screwed it up for the rest of us. Thanks, whoever you are.

This is the case. Ps3 version will no doubt be the better.Speedymanic said:Haven't the developers already said the game will be heavily compressed on 360? PS3 does seem to be the one to go for, uncompressed sound, etc.

Highly doubt it's gonna be "heavily compressed" considering that there's barely any FMVs or dialogue. Demon's Souls took up less than 6 GB on disc. Dealbreaker for me is whether or not 360 version will have party chat. I know there's no voice chat online, so they may have disabled party chat as well.INDIGO_CYCLOPS said:This is the case. oracrest said:I have a feeling that I might still spring for both versions, since a lot more of my friends have 360's than PS3's, and I still want to do co-op with them.
I am curious to see what avatar Dark Souls stuff there might be for xbox also, hopefully they do content like that. If I ever bought avatar costumes, it would be for this...
If they utilize PS3 strengths you will. Demon Souls look amazing if rough in some areas but overall the presentation was top notch. The engine can only get better.Orayn said:You're right. Being a direct port it is a plus for the 360 instead of the other way around though.

I love this so much."Every time you use it to replenish your life, the enemies respawn and get stronger"
The other possibility is that the pandering will actually amount to something and the PS3 version will get some nice uncompressed audio this time around. Demon's Souls already had great sound, so it'd be a nice touch.Special J said:probably pandering to ps3 base. to put things into perspective demon's soul was only 5.8GB which fits on dvd quite easily.

I can't wait to try the 360 version in a Party! Contrary to what people might say about cross-game chat in a game like this, I think it would work wonderfully.
Sure chatting might take you out of it a little every now and then, but I can't see it being any more annoying than having to refer to the internet for help.
