New Dead or Alive 5 trailer - Tag Team

I approve of this game simply for having a wrestling ring stage. I always found it odd how so few fighting games had a normal squared circle to fight in.

DOA was offering tag while Tekken was making you buy a seperate game for it 12 years ago, lol.

Lisa and Jann Lee are back and look great!

Kokoro was shown on E3 and almost no one used her.
Bass was revealed with Rig.
Lisa is the only new one.

Now show me Mila and Helena!

Most people on FreeStepDodge should just realize DoA is not the game for them and just play Tekken or VF. Itagaki's whole idea of counters in stun was that the attacker should be varying their options instead of repeating combos. If you get countered by someone in stun, it should be a warning that you need to vary your offence and not going back to the well with the same combos.

No worries about that. Most people will.

Basically what you're saying is that, in order to avoid being countered, you should be as random as possible. Throw skill out the window.

September is so close...!

It's also kind of bizarre that this will be one of the few DoAs that won't also require me to buy a new console to play it.

character models are incredible. ninja dog team has failed on every level except for their lead character modeler. since sigma 1 (new ayane) its obvious this guy is some god tier modeler.

This trailer "reveals" Jann Lee and Lisa, though Jann was first seen in Famitsu just a day earlier.

Bass was first seen in screenshots released during E3

Tekken Tag was a true fully developed tag game not a halfassed mode like in doa2. Get your facts straight.

Yes thats exactly what he's saying, because of course using the same rote moves is what skill is all about, its certainly not about varying your strategy to account for sudden changes and anticipating your opponent, oh holy shit, wait a moment, maybe it is!

Yeah, except you don't have to know what move I'm going to do, only what hit level. Being random in DoA is far more effective than trying to outguess what your opponent is going to do.

I also like how people try to say, STOP DOING THE SAME MOVE, as if that's some indictment of play. Every fighting game ever has people using the most effective moves. Even DoA5. Look at Master's win at e3. He was just being random using the most effective moves. Against him it was hard to predict what he was going to do because there was no rhyme or reason for him to use one move over another once you're stunned. It's not about doing the same move over and over. It's about the defender FUCKING UP and having MULTIPLE CHANCES to get out of their mistake. I, as the attacker, can never, ever, ever be sure of how the match is going to go due to the way the stun system works. All I can do is hope for the best. Every competitive player in every fighting game mixes up their attacks. People who say STOP USING THE SAME MOVE assume I'm doing the same move over and over and over. Such a strategy wouldn't get me very far in any fighting game.

The randomness of the stun system is alleviated, somewhat, in DoA5 with some unholdable stuns, the criticual burst, and the weaker damage on stuns. Whether or not it will be enough, or even be present in the final build, is yet to be seen. But every DoA before? I hit you, you're in stun, I do a mid punch that would've done 20 points of damage, you counter my mid punch out of your mistake for 70 points of damage.

Awesome.

I'm buying this day one, but I've basically given up hope that it's going to be legit and will play it when my wrist needs a break from Tekken's backdash cancel.

you should update your thread title, that they basically confirmed Bass, Lisa and Kororo

The NG3 leaked character list confirmed these and as soon as that was confirmed real then confirmation of characters becomes a moot point

Needs more Raidou, Game looks great but ill be too busy with TTT2 to care.

It was simplistic implementation as it could be. Nothing more then few frame character switching plus couple tag throws.
Wait, what exactly are you arguing? Do you even remember how TTT handled tagging?

Outside of tag throws, you could basically only hard tag and tag quickly after a launcher. It was far more seamless in DoA2 since you could do also it at any point in a combo. There were special ringside entering animations if the opponent were downed, and every team had access to generic tag throws in addition to pair-specific tag throws, not to mention co-op tagging with two players that I'm pretty sure TTT didn't have. I wouldn't call it "half-assed" or "simplistic", especially if using TTT as a counter-example.

A comparatively limited roster and technical limitations that forced tag battles to take place on only a handful of stages are the only two possible things you could leverage against the quality of DoA2's tagging. It didn't set out to be a tag game like TTT, but you're not giving it enough credit.

Since there's no wrestlers as fearsome as Wolf (or even Bass) in Tekken: Paul, Bruce, Miguel, and Dragunov.

You?

You never accepted my Final Showdown Wolf Hogan invite.

Jun/Jin, Kuni/Raven

If online is SC level, I'll finally learn TKD Bob.

I haven't played VF since a few weeks before EVO. Was messing up my SC game. I'm down to play now.

Seems like a simple case of fans of either franchise not doing their research. Team Ninja knows what they're doing and so does Namco, it's friendly competition between fighting game franchises. I welcome it.

Jann Lee's "bruce lee noises" don't appear exaggerated in this. :(

I liked his voice in the previous games.

The most recognizable voice from my childhood is Jann Lee's "WATAAAAA" when you did that backhanded punch thingy that sent the other dude flying.

Uh, did you ever play DOA2? Or 4?
Yep. I guess I just can't help but compare it to TTT2..

But I probably just watched a bad encoding of this tag trailer since the animations seemed to be missing frames. I'm sure the final version will look much better.

MARDUK and KING eat Wolf and Bass for lunch!
Burning Hammer does 45% damage. Jumping Elbow to Tiger Driver also does 45%. Kenka Kick to Emerald Flowsion Variant does 41%. Then he has a bunch of secondary throws to include low throws, wall throws, and clinch throws that do as much damage as King's best throw. Marduk's not even in the discussion.

Bass exists in a game where you can't break most of his throws and there's a hi-counter damage modifier for throws. 'Nuff said.

So no.

Besides the girl who got forced into sex slavery to the left, what the hell happened to Jann Lee's skin? It doesn't look like sweat since all the screens have the same mark on his face.

^That screen sort of shows what I noticed in the trailer about him looking slightly less tan in this game for some reason. As for the marks, they're probably just sweat mixed with dirt.

Will they use Darren Criss for Jann Lee on English version again? XD
They better. :(
