New Dead Rising 3 footage.

I'm sorry, but this doesn't look good. Ryse looks good, though the animation is very hanky. KI looks good, though the resolution is sickening. This, this doesn't look good.

This looks a thousand times more interesting than Ryse. KI looks like it might be fun, once the allure of the fancy particles wears off. The textures and lighting in DR looks better than both those games imo; there's a lot of little details that I feel are being lost to some people. And you need to chill out with all that justifying purchase talk; it reflects more negatively on you than anyone else.

The problem is it just doesn't look fun to play, for me anyway, but then again I didn't enjoy the old dead rising games so maybe I'm just not the target here. But man, these games gets boring after 30 min max of plowing zombies down and pretty much all the value of it is lost.

So may I ask, what drew you into this thread in the first place? Hoping for a change in direction or something?

I think you already know the answer to that.
I just want a troll to be man enough to admit they came in here to troll but they'll continue to spout off, run and do the same in another XB1 thread. So sick of it.
As for the game though I only played through half of the first Dead Rising, what is the goal in the game. This was going to be a day one pick up for me but I'll probably skip it if its just going for high scores and multipliers.

We've seen precious little of the actual framework of the game, I hope it doesn't go the full hack and slash route (you never go full hack and slash.)

DR was always about planning routes and managing your time as well as resources like health and weapon durability. Killing zombies was generally a means to an end, since they were the main thing that stood between you and your next objective.

With no time limit and an emphasis on action, this is about mindless hacking and slashing.

I love the Dead Rising series and I'm still holding out a small amount of hope for DR3, but I have to assume it'll be a generic-ass zombie game with none of what I like about the other games until it's been conclusively proven otherwise. I am also assuming that their time limit mode will be a hastily added joke like 1999 Mode on Bioshock Infinite.

you actually "get" it.. I have nothing to add.

Actually, it is a mindless zombie killing simulator that looks incredibly dull. But that isn't the point here - you really think this looks good? Are you that worried about your five hundred dollar purchase you have to use THIS to justify it to yourself?

Sounds rather insecure.

Remember when the reason we bought a console was because it had the games we wanted to play? What if games were all we needed to justify a purchase?

Is this game new to everyone or something?

The comments are like no one knows anything about it
Well having only played the first half of the first game I hope you understand I'm not sure of the structure of this game. Forgive me if I forget the few hours of a game I played 7-8 years ago.

Did you make it far into the old DR games? You do know there is more to do than plough into zombies? Like a story to follow and people to save?

Counting pixels and looking for jaggies.

No kidding... People seam to forget games are suppose to be fun. Mario Kart 8 anyone? Yes please.

You sir are exactly what is wrong with this entire industry ... blind fanboy devotion to the point that you sound like a complete ass!! Don't bother responding as you are now on my ignore list.
Damn it does my sarcasm meter suck or yours. I really hope it's mine. Lol

Day one, baby! It's gonna be tough trying to decide whether to play KZ, CoD, Resogun, and this. Good thing Thanksgiving (and a long vacation) is right around the corner.

1st game i'm buying with my launch system. Game looks amazing and anyone complaining is definitely not a Dead Rising fan. Just hope they do not have that time clock feature from previous game.

Can't wait to explore every nook and cranny and see what combos I can make.

Hopefully that's the case, because gameplay as it stands now looks pretty dull. I was just watching a video of RE2 on the PSone, and even with only 2 or 3 zombies on-screen, they were terrifying.

More doesn't always equate to better.

Though this many undead would be amazing to depict the scene in Walking Dead when Rick on horseback rounds a corner only to encounter a horde.

man would you cut the bullshit? this is dead rising, have you played the fucking games before? just stop with the nonsensical ignorance, DR is all about killing hordes of zombies in any way you want, there's a main story and sidequests of course, where the fuck are your comments coming from?

with that said, I'm jealous this isn't coming for PS4, DR is one of my favorite IP ever and this is looking better and better, will be checking out some streams day 1 for sure.

It's a story driven, mystery action game with a big emphasis on strategy, survival. limited resources (time is the limited resource here) all set in the backdrop of a mall that's populated with zombies, psychopaths and survivors...all of whom stand between you and learning the truth about the outbreak.

This game is different in that the time limit has been moved to nightmare mode. I'm wary of this decision and it fundamentally changes the gameplay from the above into something that's not as focused and ultimately, not as compelling. We know precious little about the rest of the game, but it's fair to assume it follows a similar template as past games...you spend your time rescuing survivors, battling psychopaths and uncovering the truth/getting the hell out of dodge before the army arrives.

Chill dude, he's not a fan of the series and thinks the series makes a mockery of zombies.

Whoa. I was just commenting about what people seem to focus on in next gen threads, given the question I quoted. My point was that a good game is a good game.

Someone's insecure and it's not the OP. Also when did 720p become "sickening"?

Thanks man appreciate it. See I actually forgot about stuff like rescuing survivors.

It wasn't terribly deep, but I found the character progression in Dead Rising games to be pretty fun, and worth the PP scavenging.

Has there been any commentary from the developers about progression in DR3? (Need that DDT baby!)

as someone who's only buying PS4, this looks terrific and what a shame I can't play it (at least for a while).

What the fuck does this mean?

720p

"sickening"

lol

Guy with 15 posts gets enraged at obvious sarcasm. Color me shocked. Help us out by tossing the rest of us on that ignore list.

There was a video that showed a little of it(I forget what it was), and it now lets you pick what upgrades. So instead of hoping for a speed or inventory upgrade, it's up to you.

They also seem to let you use the level up to change a combo card. So instead of needing a flashlight + gems specifically for the laser sword it ended up simplifying the materials.

Looking good. Really surprised that they've managed to stabilise the frame-rate

I'm not seeing it in the YT video. The fact that it doesn't slow down when the player is driving through pretty large hordes in a car suggests it might be a video encoding issue, if there is any slowdown...which as I said, I'm not seeing.

Was just about to post this. I also downloaded the gamespot one and still couldn't see any drops in framerate. Looks amazing so far.

Thanks! Yeah, the surprise perk system would occasionally annoy if you were hankering for a new move, but I'll give it this much: it kept me grinding.

Anyway, this all sounds pretty great. And co-op could be the mother of time-sinks.

Man, people bitching about graphics... sure, maybe not the prittiest girl at the party.

But while you guys fuck a good looking girl with no moves, I mean, just laying there, I will have sex with this 2nd hand look wise who knows how to handle and pleasure me like a godess.

Oh look another X1 thread gone shit, that's new to me!

Oh gaf

I have a whole new outlook on how to tackle these threads. I'll only focus on the game and people who I don't think are trolling. Just have fun talking about the game with others who are genuinely looking forward to, or are excited about it. Way too much attention is focused on detractors of either the system itself or the game, and it helps indirectly drag the thread down into the mud. This doesn't mean that any criticism is intended with ill intent, but way too much focus is paid to the ones that clearly are designed as such, and not enough on those who aren't being malicious.

The number of different lighting sources projecting shadows in everything is crazy.

Yes. :)

That's... an interesting analogy. Emphasis on the "anal" I guess?

Should have had this outlook from the beginning...I mean this isn't your first gen transition right?

Looks perfectly smooth and very impressive from a tech POV.
People saying otherwise obviously have little understanding of what's going on in the GPU.

But they keep demoing the same sequence, I'd like to see what recent builds look like in daylight.
