You're right, but it is easier to have your guard broken by a grab/throw in NG. In DMC, your guard has to be crushed, I think. It's been a minute since I've played.

But now you're talking about the Royal Guard style which was just one of multiple options in DMC3. If history continues on this trajectory, Ninja Gaiden involves much more blocking than DMC4, which should again revolve around evasion, or basically knowing when to not attack.

Yep. I was mainly responding to karasu's comment that it's not hard to defend yourself in NG. That guard is still easy to break if an enemy can get close enough to you to toss you. NG enemies having that option was a simple change-up that added to their difficulty. You had an ever-so-slightly larger window to react in DMC before your guard could be crushed, in most cases (I think some attacks instantly destroyed your guard). Unless parrying is a large part of your game, though, it's just as you described: evasion and timing for DMC, underlined by deliberate audio cues from enemies before they attack.

i heard DMC3 was so hardcore on easy Capcom had to release another version of the game with 'Itagaki mode'. RESPECT.
The first pics Capcom released running on PS3 looked great but after that many of the shots looked a bit ordinary to me. These, however, are something else. This, Assassin's Creed and Ninja Gaiden II - ooh, I can barely contain my excitement!

Um... am I the only one who thought that DMC4 has looked good from the beginning? I mean the engine has been getting better yes but there is an extreme disparity in comments on the visual of the game.
Game first revealed on PS3 only - ZOMG WTF CAPCOM NEXT-GEN GOD!!!!1111
Announcement of 360 version, ice levels shown - Meh, doesn't look that good as it should. Multiplatform gaming FTL.
I find the HDR/tone mapping kinda wacky in some of these screens. Mainly ones like this where almost the entire picture is either under- or over-exposed.
I've never seen tone mapping this extreme before where so much detail is lost. But nobody else seems to mind? I would think the final product will look fine and not much like these screens.
