hawwwwwt

edit: hey threeball, you gonna be in San Diego the 19th for the Poinsetta bowl? Im goin (I go to NIU), should be a good game. My step-dad is TCU Alum, so we'll be sitting in adjacent seats rooting for opposite teams. :lol

anyway..DQ Swords and stuff woot!

DQ as a whole... blarrgh.

DQ:Swords.... mighty interesting to me.

revive King's Field, please

They still look very much like Toriyama designs to me, though with a bit more style. I think this game looks great, but I fear that the on-rails nature might ruin it for me.

Wow. Swords looks nice, it sounded like BOMBA total earlier, but the more we learn, the more appealing it gets.

When it was first displayed it looked meager and it was also given a ridiculously optimistic launch window (some info said AT LAUNCH :)), so I think we were understandably pessimistic, but now...

Holy shi... looks great.

pff... im not on the team yet, i will be next year, so therefore I WISH

I don't think DQS will be RPG-huge as far as size goes, but if they can give you enough courses to fight on and mix them up well to add replay value, then it'll be a pretty damn interesting and fun diversion.

At the moment, DQS looks "meh" gameplay wise after seeing that footage and remembering some earlier impressions. Just get the impression it would get old very quickly.

But the idea of using the wiimote for swords/knives/daggers/axes etc is still very appealing. Someone could make a great swords/knives game with a RE4-style camera position and using the wiimote for slashing/stabbing/twisting/butchery. Using a knife in RE itself could suddenly become interesting.

A series like Hitman could actually be awesome on Wii if done properly - much more interesting use of non-projectile weapons.

In other RPGs, the fighting is "on rails" which actually doesn't make much sense if you look at it this way. :]

What's the point of moving freely through a village with only a few places where you can "do" anything?

Game looks nice, visuals are solid enough and I really like that blond hair girl's design, but damn it all, I still know that I'll get tired fast of swinging the remote around to attack all the enemies over and over again, and that just keeps turning me off.

Bah.

Then you're not hero enuff :[

One thing that confuses me... How do cities and such places outside of battles work in this game? Are they just cut scenes?

Dragon Quest Swords looks not bad at all. My only concern is that it is developed by Genius Sonority.

1. Genius Sonority also developed DQ V and VI (back then their name was heartbeat)
2. It is not developed by Generious sonority but by 8ing (Naruto GC)
3. Genius Sonority is doing planning and design on it with horii yuji.. but their main focus right now is battle revolution (i mean.. it will probably be a bigger game then DQS)

it probably does get old after a while but since it's DQ, fans like myself are going to get it on day one.

come on man, beating up slimes by mimicking sword slashes! how can a DQ nut not like that??

This game proves that the Wii can pump up great visuals under the hands of competent developers.[/IMG]
Ummmm, why exactly ? It's on rails and there are 7 characters/monster on screen max.

Does anyone know much about the gameplay?

Like that's a shot of a town, for example. Are the towns on rails? :lol

I think it's just the dungeons, but maybe the roads and paths to the dungeon are on rails too...

Well, it looks like when you visit towns and move around in the world, you'll just be in 1st person. For cutscenes, it looks 3rd person as usual.

Ok, so theres something interesting about this screen. on the bottom it says there are two characters. I always thought this games was one player. I mean, how can you control 2 people? So does this mean theres multiplayer?

If there is, it would make this game even more awesome than it already is.

if three people noticed the macho manliness this character is projecting then there's definetely something wrong with the design

or with those three people

I said this in the Blue Dragon thread about 2 weeks ago:

This is the first time that I've seen Toriyama attempt somewhat realistic looking hair.. I also think that's probably the most attractive female he's done. No question which game will be better, but DQS gets the easy nod in terms of art.

I'm interested in the game, but I can't imagine it'll be very good.
